I have collected rocks, crystals, etc. since I was a kid. I've never associated then with any sort of meta-physical properties and I cringe when I hear people try to explain how certain rocks have "vibrations" or "energies". 🙄 Why can't we just appreciate the beauty and wonder of God's creation!? You said it, Melissa...Worshipping the creation, not the creator.

really? some rocks do have vibrations and energy. They are useful. I mean its obvious and science can even prove it.

Although the whole "stumbling block" thing is really really important to me so the conviction to be expressly clear that what little crystals and gems I do have are not for spiritual purposes is heavy on me. My stepfather actively practiced various forms of witchcraft before being born again. One thing I remember him telling me about how he used crystals in witchcraft stuck with me. Be careful where any sort of crystal is from because demonic things can be attached to them. As someone who enjoys geology and finds it fascinating I have always gotten anything decorative or just fun to look at from shops that did not sell anything new age. Discernment is a very wise way to approach this. The last thing you want to do is invite the enemy into your house.

I just gave a girl two bracelets I made of jasper for her birthday as a gift, I noticed she had a matching gemstone bracelet so I thought she would like them. I make jewelry with gemstones sometimes because they are pretty and inexpensive, I know better not to attach significance to them whatsoever. Little did I know when she received them that she would. It was naïve on my part. She told me her parents gave her one made of whatever stone to help her anxiety. And that jasper was good as well. 🤦‍♀️ I felt like I was just reinforcing her delusional. At least I told her about Jesus, but this was a lesson in itself.

Everyone who went to look at her gemstone display heard about Jesus as "the Rock that was struck" for our sins. I grew up associating crystals with this woman and her outreach mission. I've never been new age, but I will say that when looking at crystal and stone jewelry, if it is marketed as "healing", "protective", "balancing" or any otherwise mystical, I choose not to get those. I believe it is ok to have crystal and stone jewelry and I have some necklaces and bracelets that I love, but I wear them because they're pretty, not because I believe them to have any mystical property.
However, if you were new age and had crystals and stones for their magical or mystical properties, I'm going to say you should probably toss those. Ultimately, that is between you and the Lord, so I'd give it lots of good study and prayer.
Also, if you have come out of the new age deception and are struggling with this, please know that as your sister in Christ who has come out of other types of deception, I am praying for you daily. ❤️

Thank you for bringing up this topic! Before getting reconnected with the Lord, I had bought some crystals at a shop that sold all types of teas, crystals, and such. These shops are often disguised or dressed up as being a holistic or "all natural:" store/shop. I was initially drawn to the look and beauty of the crystals which is fine, but then the owner started telling me how different ones meant different things. She told me to tell her which ones I was drawn to first and she would be able to tell me what those crystals meant. Reflecting back on it now, her doing that reminds me of what we see with tarot cards when people go get "a reading". I don't think it's a coincidence, but those crystals have been misplaced for a couple months and I couldn't tell you where they are. I still think they are beautiful, but because they are often associated with new age beliefs, I am definitely more aware of how having these can be misleading into what I believe.

Good presentation Melissa, I liked your practicality about these minerals and you note of caution for them not to be a stumbling block. l worked as a miner and saw at times amazingly beautiful crystalline minerals deep under the ground. I appreciated their beauty and mathematical precision as an example of God's handiwork and as a little glimpse of his majesty and ordered symmetry. I was surprised that people thought they had spiritual uses instead of just appreciating their beauty and industrial uses. I remember once seeing a wall of purple amethyst and golden hued chalcopyrite, what a sight over 4,500 feet under, but a few days later it was drilled, blasted and hauled to the ore passes. Amazing what comes with the correct mix of elements, chemistry, intense pressure and heat.

Ah yes, the moonstone. And the onyx ("black stones repel negative energy and protect the wearer from evil'')...oy! I remember those days and sometimes I cringe at myself! I still appreciate gemstones as a beautiful creation of God - but I praise the creator, not the creation. Actually, this is the premise for the jewelry I make now. I incorporate beautiful gemstones & also Israeli olive wood beads into Christian specific jewelery (crosses, fish, etc) to bring people into the truth that is Christ and as part of my ministry in warning others about the New Age. But I refuse to sell them in any store that promotes metaphysics ideology, or give them to people who I know will use them as a spiritual conduit. It is a tough line to balance for many but I have found I have had no desire or temptation to return to my prior use for them. Praise God!!

From Google: Quartz is a type of crystal used in watches, computers, and other devices to keep time. The quartz crystal vibrates or ticks an exact 60 seconds per minute when electricity is applied to it. The picture shows an example of a type of crystal you'll find in your computer.

Totally agree Melissa..Crystals were a primary aspect of my healing work as a new age practitioner... if you're wearing a crystal, people will believe you're wearing it as an amulet . Christians need to carefully examine their intention for wanting to wear crystals or geodes. However I did keep *some* of my crystals and geodes because I think of God's beautiful creations but only after praying about it and blessing them in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit.. I no longer wear crystals or geodes... that includes the bracelets I had made with various stones as a medicine wheel bracelet... God had me cut the bracelet and rearrange the stones into a "resurrection" bracelet that goes from white stone beads to red earth to black and back to white again ☝️

I just came out of the new age in august, and the first thing I did was throw out my bracelets since I used them as protective talismans. Then I packed up all my quartz crystals and gemstone bags that I used to carry everywhere. I felt so free when I did that. I now know that I was a slave to fear and superstition. I still have a few decorative crystals displayed, but I no longer “charge” them in the full moon, or attach any kind of worship/powers to them. Will I ever wear gemstone beads again? I don’t know. I’ll have to pray about that. For now, I will abstain since I am a new Christian.

Funny enough, this topic arose for me after hearing Beyonce sing that she "charges her crystals in a full moon" which I have gotten into interesting conversations with people about this verse (and would love to hear others' thoughts on it as well). Thanks for this video!

    • @laylascott6096

She also says she uses the pages of the Bible to plug her menses. No joke. Beyoncé is definitely not who you think she is or who she used to be. Be careful there. My spirit physically rejects her videos and concerts (I used to be a fan and watch vocal compilations but since being saved I can’t.) it’s pretty well known what she is, and Jay z as well. I don’t say this to be mean, I feel ultimately she was a victim of the evil music industry. That verse I said is in the beginning of the lemonade video, and stay prayed up if you watch it 🙏

What about salt lamps? Are they used in the new age? Do they fit into this crystal category? I've been told by people who use them that they "change the charge of the ions in the air to promote healing", but I've yet to see a verified study that substantiates this claim.

    • @jessiebird26
      @jessiebird26 3 года назад

So I recently watched a video of a guy talking about and testing salt lamps. In it he talked about how it is proven that ions help with depression and positive, happy feelings. There are many ions around water falls and things in nature, so ions are natural (God made) and helpful to well being. But the test on the salt lamps showed no change in ions.

You also still need to be careful where you are getting this "jewelry" or "pretty rock" from--could this item have been cursed by the person you are purchasing it from or receiving it from as a gift. Be careful what you bring into your home or put on your body. Use discernment.

You mentioned there are no studies to prove crystals have energies or power. I'm a mum of young kids, I would love to do more research on that but I struggle to find time. You have more knowledge and experience on this topic. Energies and vibrations do exist in physics and new agers try to use that as a scientific fact to prove we can shift moods/energies etc. I would really appreciate a video with more details. How do we separate the two? Physics and mystical/spiritual. What does the research say? I feel like I lack knowledge to be able to have a proper conversation with a New Ager.
Thank you for making your videos, they have been helpful to me. ❤

I also chose some time ago not to wear any jewelry anymore because I decided I do not need or want any attention from adornment, so that removed the jewelry ones too.

I started getting into Wicca and loved crystals as a teen, I believed they had "magical" properties. Now it's hard to not think of my old beliefs from all those years back, especially when I see them in certain jewelry shapes. It stinks because I *love* how they look and it's gorgeous as jewelry, but man is it hard, same thing with moon jewelry.
I know it's God's creation and nothing bad, but it's been so twisted that I wouldn't want people to think I'm into New Age/Wicca still. I figured it would have been better to remove them due to possible temptation as I'm fighting the slight longing to go back to neo-paganism, even with my stance against it.

    • @jansmith3613

My guess is that it is similar to gems/crystals. They are natural by-products of plants and have been used in perfumery and medicine for centuries. It is when the purely physical properties of them get wrapped up in mystic and spiritual claims that the problem occurs. Someone more qualified than I would have to speak to it fully though.

If the oil blend claims something that cannot be achieved by a plant, like financial prosperity, then it's not an oil, it's a potion. I use lemongrass oil to repel insects, orange oil and other oils with disinfecting properties in my cleaners and lavender or frankincense for a calming scent when I'm stressed. But I stay away from oils that proclaim to change my life in any way.

I’m in agreement with this 90%. My family does not celebrate holloween but we love bats and black cats and pumpkins which God created! However, what about the whole spiritual housecleaning of not bringing into our home objects that may have curses placed on them to influence our households family members? Some of this jewelry may be made by proclaiming witches who have placed curses on the items. We know this is done on music. I think you should have spiritual discernment on what and who you buy from. Just a thought....

Thank you for this! I have been collecting crystals since I was a child. I have them all over my house and office. I even wear them. Why? Because I think they are a beautiful reminder of what God can create. I don't believe they will attract money, love, etc. I have the same views with essential oils - which I use daily. Again, another wonderful creation of God. I wear Patchouli everyday. I love how it smells. Although, I must say.... cinnamon oil keeps roaches away. THAT alone is a blessing!!! 😃

Take the word “Crystals” and swap it with “flowers”....
If I decorate my house with “flowers” and that brings me joy - that’s fine.
However, if I start praying to my “flowers” or looking to them for spiritual guidance - that’s idolatry.

Crystals have vibrations- see quartz in watches and crystals used to make AM radios. How do vibrations affect us is the real question and how can/do crystals affect the vibrations?

We're just beginning to understand some of the health benefits of certain light waves and ranges. Much light isn't visible to the naked eye but it doesn't mean it's not there or has no impact on human, animal or plant health. I don't know about vibrations but I think perhaps different types of crystals interact with different types of light in different ways which can bring about subtle changes in our health. At any rate they are part of God creation and as such are safe to use provided we don't make an idol of them.

Great video Melissa.. I used to live by Rose quartz.. to attract love. I carried worrystones, slept with Obsidian under my pillow. I've repented, totally.
I did have my faith in their power. Oddly, I had awful dreams, no love came, and I got hugely sick. I regret deeply.. I was a #hotmess .. then went straight to Bethel. Lady was talking of her crystal pendant. It confused me! I was the one charging them up in moonlight. I think I was deluded. Christ called this Prodigal back. Hallelujah 🙏🇬🇧🕊✝️👍😇💕🤲
