My name is Keith and I am a 74 year old Scot and I fell in love with Cass Elliot the first time I heard this song but eventually Make Your Own Kind Of Music became my favourite song of all time and I listen to it every single day of my life and because I'm on my own now and I get very lonely, sometimes I smile and sometimes I cry because on the 29th of July 2024 it will be the 50th anniversary of the death of the greatest singer that ever lived, the one and only Mama Cass Elliot - R.I.P. Cass 😢💔🙏

She was a beautiful singer and I was privileged to be around when she was singing this song and others. My childhood was enriched by her music.....a true legend and a beautiful person
Unfortunately she wouldn't have made it today except maybe as an artiste with a cult following. Today's young generation only seem interested in listening to somebody talking over a backing track.
I remember the day Cass died. I was pregnant with my son. It came over the radio Cass was dead. I cried off and on for days. I absolutely LOVED her music while she was with the group and after. Amazing person and amazing voice ! My all time favorite song was when she was with the group ...creeque alley !

Thanks God we had Mama Cass and we learnt what music really was. Positiveness and Good Vibrations all over. Lovely singer and lovely compositions she sang. Whenever you feel blue, you can go back to Cass Elliot and get your batteries full re-charged!
Honestly, I clicked thinking it might be Mama Cass at a lower weight, cuz I saw a "nude" of her seemingly (it claimed) - Nothing was showing but you could see the begging of her butt or so and that girl looked like she had a waist though...
Not only did " MAMA CASS " sing in tune... Great range... Awesome pitch.... But she sang songs that had meaning. Not like the crap on the radio today. LONG LIVE " MAMA CASS "
Plenty of modern pop songs have meaning. You just don't fucking listen cos it doesn't sound the way you think music should. Try country or folk if you want something to listen to. You sound like your dad in 1962 or something. problem? You never fucking grew up and broadened yr listening, so you still rag on what the kids listening to, stuff you can never fully understand, cos all you have is the past. Sod That!
I just watched the 1970 army training film on RUclips and I saw this girl dancing. This dance was brief and very quick and this clip of her dancing to all the 60’s & 70’s songs is looped over and over and even her moves and the way her hair moves the film is in reverse then forward. The editing job is perfectly awesome 😎. Who ever edited this, either does editing or definitely should go into film editing! 👍 Brilliant!
I have loved Mama Cass since the day I first heard her my daughter and I were driving the car one day she was just tiny I was singing along with Mama cash and she asked me if that was me singing. What a compliment
A lead to the training film would've been nice to have. But, I'm replying to a five year old post, so not holding my breath. This take is impressive, but definitely not perfect. It's pretty obviously manipulated. The reversals and looping are right in your face.

jr johnston Aw man... I think I know what you’re talking about. For me it was “(you’ve gotta) make your own kind of music,” in about 1970 or so.. It hit this yearning, pensive, wistful chord in me... and I was about 10 yrs. old - WTF was I wistful for, age six or something? Anyhow, I second your emotion. I think she had a peculiar knack for hitting that particular spot.
