- Fix under $10. You can use foam strip, electric tape, plumbers tape, small rubber bands, etc.
This video will show you how to reduce, dampening the vibrating / rattling / clicking / brrr / trrr noise that seems to be coming from the front of the cabin dashboard or trim. It is actually located in the front air intake cover panel under the hood. There is also noise coming from the frunk.

One less noise is gone. Thank you. Now the back seat noises.
Judging by this video, it could be the plastic inside of the trunk lid. It has the same white clips most likely. Worth checking out I suppose 😊.
I solved the back seat noise. On my car, it was because the backrests were not well maintained in contact with the trunk structure. Just fold both seats and put some foam horizontally between the structure and the back cover. It will push the backrests forward, avoiding them to move, which causes the noise.
I had the same thing! It was the passenger head rear seat head thing! It wasn’t pushed down all the way and would make noise! It was killing me. Hopefully that helps
Thanks for this video.
It's amazing they make such complex electronics and engineering, but these little things that are so easy to prevent, they are somehow overlooked.
Ignored is probably the case
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and share these tips!
THANK YOU!! I swore this noise was from under my dash by the windshield . I put foam tape under my things like you do here and solved!
Excellent!
All I had on hand was some yarn. Remove each clip and wrapped the yarn around the gap 1-1/2 times and inserted it back into the panel. All the white pieces are now secure and rattle free.
Thank you! We were wondering where the noise was coming from.
I see you have the newer Model Y with the giant HEPA filter system. Tesla Service is now offering to retrofit the older models made before mid 2021 for $300. This includes a software update for the HEPA menu options.
Clever way to fixing it brother, good job and thanks.
Valuable video. Thanks. As for Tesla, shame and accountability are non-existent. They just don’t care.
Tesla quality strikes again!
This is a silly issue which is easily resolved. Shouldn’t happen in first place. But Tesla isn’t alone. Google “poor bmw quality”.
this noise is bothering me every day! your video gives me hope, I'll try!!
Me too!
@@guy7622unfortunately it didn’t fix the problem for my car
Thank you! This was driving me nuts!
That sounds like it's coming from my AC vents. I'll check the clips. Thank you.
I am missing the proof quality check from the end....
These white clips are actually Obtanium listed but when asking the service centre it should be possible to score a bag of them if missing them or for later.
Oh wow, thanks for the tutorial! This will be very helpful to my Tesla👍
Glad it was helpful!
I hope Tesla rake note of all these fixes and make some changes
My guy you can for sure make this a business!
Thanks for the video. What year is your Model 3?
MYP 2022
Also, a dab of silicone or caulking on the tab might keep it from rattling
Totally wild. I used furniture felt pads. Fit perfectly.
That’s amazing….. thanks for sharing the fix buddy …. Do you know any fix for noise comes from rear while driving ..?
I have a rattle coming from my right rear passenger roof where the light is. As far as I can tell, a screw came loose. I don’t know how to take the cover off. So I try to reach it with my fingers but just can’t get to it
I thought the front rattling noise was on the inside where the front dash speaker was. So is that not the case or is it really on the frunk? If that is the case, this is a much easier fix than trying to remove the front speaker grill area.
Can you do a test drive to see how the sound looks like now with these fixes?
Hello, you can try to tap on the intake cover see if it rattles. My rattle noise in the front is gone now. Really depends on how tight fit the car was assembled. Overtime they can become loose since it's all plastic.
OMG, you might be my f… idol!!
Excellent! Very helpful!
another tip: using elastic band helps as well (thin ones)
Great tip!
Is this the same for the model X?
Thank you.
Great video!
Thank you that helped
Brilliant! Thank you for doing this to help us! Tacky Elon should supply weather proofing strips with each car sold.😂 Subscribed!
I wonder if this was fixed in M3 Highland...
you think these noises could be heard from the cabin?
Yes
Can't find 3/4 by 1/2 at walmart, any other dimensions work? The rattle is driving me crazy.
You can get online eBay or Amazon, or home Depot? Other than that I guess you can buy smaller or thinner option then double the layers when you insert them
Mobile service techs will fix these rattles under warranty. I had rattles from the screen in the back dash.
Thanks!
mine rattling noise is in the front doors left and right..tesla fix it but the noise is back now...pretty annoying..so i just crank the music up
put the foam in first , than slide in the christmas tree white clip
Teflon tape won’t work?
Teflon/plumbers tape should work too.
Fixed mine with spray foam. Make sure you choose the kind that stays soft, not the insulation foam getting rock hard.
Mine is plagued with rattles and bangs front and rear
Tesla quality =)
Best solution SELL IT
I think Darth Vader is in your garage btw, just letting you know.
USE CLEAR OUTDOOR SILICONE & IT'LL LAST FOREVER
I don’t hear anything on my Y
TapeLa
It’s endless loop :) no point to compete with Tesla design :)
If Tesla doesn’t pay attention on all these bugs 🐜 then race is over…
I am going to try a squirt of hot glue under each clip.
This is so much crap.
Thank you!
