Ed Bull Bike tech hits the pits with the scales in hand to find out what the modern day enduro world cup bike really weighs. Like share subscribe #yolo
@@daswienerle3018 Yea, the enduro frame itself is 3.7kg (8.14lbs) without a shock. My '22 Process 153 Med Alum Alloy w/o shock is 3.72kg (8.2lbs), for reference. She thic.
well... there's a limit to the weight... let's be honest. not many can handle a 42lb to lug up the climbs or have the brute force to handle from being top heavy
I think this video is great in that it shows the range of weights up to 40lb bikes. A lot at 37lb. Seems pretty important for many that they have those DH tire casings and rear inserts for the heavier riders or hitters to have extra insurance. I don't see why you wouldn't for racing except for the pain to install, to get working right or getting stuck w/ difficulties or spare part when needing to put a tube in. Flats suck in everyday riding too so it's worth the extra weight and getting fitter =)
I think my propain spindrift alloy with the 38 and dhx2 weights in around 17.8. People make it out like weight is the end all, be all when it comes to climbing but i feel like anti-squat and seattube angle is much more important.
Suprised to see such heavy bikes with full carbon parts. My commencal meta with DD tires is at 37lbs. Thats with low end parts and full aluminum build. I dont feel so bad about it now lol!😅 I swear a few years ago these weigh ins wrre coming in all below 34lbs.
These bikes are just pushed further and further each year, so even though you might have the most high end carbon frame AND rims, it will all add up in the end because it all needs to be able to withstand hard abuse over and over. Just tires alone can way a lot and chuck in some inserts as well and then we're cooking. Everything gets beefier and with that comes weight no matter what materials you're using.
OMG they are so heavy my Scott Gambler is 16.5 kg + Big cassette and has 200 bike park days. My Xprezo Ad hoc is 12.8 kg and my Norco Sight that cracked after 3 days in Whistler was 15.6 kg ( what a POS bike lol).
I never knew there was a weigh in...why? Just checked the rules and seen none about weight of the bike. But...what gives? Can it be too light? Too heavy?
Ed this is my new favourite channel. When you get a chance can you please do a weigh in of all the bikes loaded with tools and all? Would be interested to know how heavy they get. No need to include those jerks at Commencal.
I wish they show the lightest one they have(without saying so) just to get a wide variety of ranges for aluminum but they could be adding even more weights like they do for tire balancing and maybe they don't have a light one that's standard. Don't want to scare off the customers with false advertising.
they only have aluminum bikes so maybe have an unfair "advantage" when others were probably carbon. Who knows, maybe they have frame weights added on the race bikes to help with stability and don't want to give away their' secrets.
Great video! The bike weights very interesting, good reminder how tough the bikes have to be for Enduro. All the riders reactions and feelings on the weights considering they are pedalling / racing them was just as interesting! Thanks for the video. Next event rider weights.. haha
Wrong. I'm riding a trail bike weighing in at 25lbs approx. Hardtail with Chris King bearings and XTR groupo. Mavic rims with DT stainless 2.0 spokes, 32 spoke 3 across lacing. I weigh in at 130ish and can ride it as hard as anyone, and ain't nothin going to break nor has it.
I pushed my Norco range (XL) below 17kg with only enduro/DH parts and a coil( no tools, pedals or waterbotles) I guess a modern enduro is not only as capable as an old DH bike but also as Heavy
Cracked my XL Norco Sight after 3 bikepark days in Whistler mine was around 16kg. Meanwhile my Gambler is around 16.5 kg and has more than 300 bikepark days.
@@skippylegrandgourou2069 its alöways hard to copare because the conditions are never the same. but the gambler has more travel which helps reducing the loads on the structure
Hopefully Norco covered it. Mind explaining details? You hit anything or land hard on something? Bikes can only handle so much load. I had one crack on me as well on the front triangle pretty badly on a case.
Hanging them by seat down is 100% the worst thing you can to your dropper post! Of course if your factory mechanic is just gonna service it or throw on a new one, then I guess who cares.
ed bull tv never dissapoints, dh bikes next please.
Will be getting the scales out next week in Val di Sole
excellent stuff mate.
Predicting 0.5 kg more then the Enduro Bikes? So around 17 kg…
Can't wait!
"This is a weigh in, not a bike check." 😂💀
The Ancillotti is crazy light for a full metal bike, with coil suspension all around.
and then you have the spezialiced enduro... crazy how heavy that one is
Ancillottis are pretty sick, i have a Xprezo Ad hoc is 12.8 kg aluminium/steel frame. This bike is a beast and handmade in Canada.

The stats we needed but didn't deserve
Really appreciate this! Always nice to see real world weights vs. listed
There’s nothing “listed” about enduro race bikes 😂😂
Hopefully this shuts up the internet comment squad that always say "ENDURO BIKE SHOULD BE 14KG OR LESS, ANYTHING HEAVIER IS UNRIDEABLE"
My ransom is just over 15kg, it's alloy it's a chunky bike , it's not that much heavier than my stumpjumper😊
Man those bikes are weighty aye?!
this is a great format for killing time, can you please do this at Val di Sole?
Damnit Ed, now I have to explain to my wife why we need a hanging scale…
I think this has proved to me that weight doesn’t really matter all that much. Ride your bike kids!! Don’t be a weight weeny!

Straight Bangers Mr. Masters, keep it coming!!!!
The hero we need doing the lords work
Made me feel good about my SB165! It is 17.something with DH casing tools insert on the rear and coil front and back
What fork ya runnin?

That's actually such a great video idea, cheers!
this is science😁
I don't feel I can use the excuse of my bike being heavy anymore seeing as it weighs 17kg dead on! LOL
And great idea for a video, by the way
That Ancilotti bike😍 I want one!
Who would have thought I love watching bikes being weighed. I didn't know. I do!
more to come soon!!
Needed Mathew Fairbrother's bike in there to with or without the bike packing gear
I don't feel like my XL Starling Twist with steel frame, coil front and rear and a rear insert at 17kg is so heavy any more!
It’s chunky especially considering that it die not have the toughness an ews rig got
@@harrie205 it's a steel enduro bike. It's as tough as any bike in the video
@@jamesrussell7982 its a simple designed steel bike which is not comparabe to modern carbon and alloy frames regarding strength and toughness

The lightest bikes probably skimped on the sealant...
awesome idea just like UFC weigh ins froffffinn these
Commencal didn’t want you to weigh the meta because they’re all cracked
OMG they are so heavy my Scott Gambler is 16.5 kg + Big cassette and has 200 bike park days. My Xprezo Ad hoc is 12.8 kg and my Norco Sight that cracked after 3 days in Whistler was 15.6 kg ( what a POS bike lol).
The 15 seconds of standing ovation at the end of the video was not enough
I thought my Commencal Meta AM 29 was too heavy cos' it was over 17k point something AND most of the riders has the same weight 😂 I'm more relax now
This is the best video I’ve seen since the last video I watched
The druid is a 17,5 kg 130mm bike lmao
You heard em’though “race winner”
So cool bikes are definitely getting heavier no doubt. Would of like to know the weight with full tools/repair kit and water.
The life long bike geek in me had to change my shorts multiple times! That's some damn fine interwebbing!! Oh and that Ancillotti is gorgeous 😘
Great video
I never knew there was a weigh in...why? Just checked the rules and seen none about weight of the bike.
But...what gives?
Can it be too light?
Too heavy?
What size was Jack Menzies' Polygon Collosus N9?
My giant reign 1.5 2018 ALU (27.5) medium size weights 14.4 kg with 2.5 tyres front and back. I guess I should keep it 😁😁
"Lightweight" seems to mean less from this video. Put the best blend of parts regardless of weight but always make the rider happy.
Interesting how most of them, if not all were on Medium bikes, atleast for the men.
This was hilarious. Mush have weights in the commencals lol
we all know commencel bikes are HEAVY!
Ed this is my new favourite channel. When you get a chance can you please do a weigh in of all the bikes loaded with tools and all? Would be interested to know how heavy they get. No need to include those jerks at Commencal.
The commencal guys are all good. Maybe just a little confused about my intentions
@@ed.mastersThey’re not a French from by any chance?
Yeah, they have the disadvantage of being aluminum and not valuing weight so heavily as many perceive it to be.
Does Rhys use his right AXS controller to trigger his dropper? Weird.
Someone I read about uses left for downshift and right for up. With seat on both tops. Something like that.
Makes sense
Polygon bikes make you strong
My 23 scott ransom alloy heavy nx gear etc weighs just over 15kg these carbons are like 2 kg heavier
surprised by the stumpy evo and the giga
haha that's why they called Andoran Anchors
Come on Commencal!! I own one and I’m curious of the race weight! I expect it to be a bit heavier, because it’s made better!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Before you weighted Maes bike I was going to say to get your hands on some Orbea Rallon these are 15kg with light tires and air shock
J.m. the crackhead of endro
even with air shock, polygon is heavier than my sins
What a bummer for the sponsored riders....... have to ride the heavy stuff
why does everyone ride a medium lol
That white Zeb tho!
Facts!
New favourite channel. Loving it.
My 160 front and rear intense sits at 13.6kg
makes me wonder what you opted out on to make it weigh less ;)
So good, need a DH bike version at the next round
Val di sole weigh in next!
@@ed.masters That will be epic mate :) Can't wait ....
What's with Commencal??
I find it funny when roadies say 10kg bikes are heavy
they only have aluminum bikes so maybe have an unfair "advantage" when others were probably carbon. Who knows, maybe they have frame weights added on the race bikes to help with stability and don't want to give away their' secrets.
I still don't believe that weigh-in for Nigle (sic).
Neither did I but we double checked and it was legit
What dost the weight-weenie sayeth to that? 😊
Ed you hero, please chase down Alex Rudeau & weight the new Meta 👀
😂😂😂
Hard to believe Jesse's bike is 40ish lbs.. even with some bits on it.. pig.
Makes you see how heavy duty these enduro riders are. Overall bike weight is not the main function to winning.
That 170 giga is very intriguing
BOO COMMENCAL!
Real fun to watch! Make this a thing pls !

Mr. Ed! Love your work!
Hard hitting facts. 🤘
Shout out for Katy W 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Now i want to go weigh my bike
Go to your scale and hold your bike, then subtract your weight.
I didn’t need anymore proof that Moir should’ve made a dream switch to Nukeproof, thanks EdBull 😞
My 190/200 Pole Voima with a Fox 40, 750w battery and Bosch race motor is 50lbs even. 🤘🏻😎
Reason enough not to buy Commencal
if weight is your concern, probably but I thought it's pretty bad ass that they have gone the aluminum route and stick with their guns.
Hanging them by seat down is 100% the worst thing you can to your dropper post! Of course if your factory mechanic is just gonna service it or throw on a new one, then I guess who cares.
Dudes it’s fine
" 100% the worst thing" .....surely crashing is worse then that
What i thought😵💫🫣
That's bullshit
Wahh
Thanks for including lbs and kg. You don’t know how much that means as an American ❤ 🥹
Yeah, UK bike weights = pounds mostly too - still PSI for tyres too.
