I've been running Ourys for years until this last season when I tried Meaty Paws. Game changers for my big mitts and the pattern feels better. Oury are awesome grips but they can feel vague when you get tired or your hands get moist.
SQlab 711 and Loam Lab are the grips I've liked the most for comfort. The SQlab ones have extra rubber on the outer palm and a pretty nice shape to hold onto. The Loam Lab ones have a more traditional round profile but a bit of the plastic core removed right where your outer palm sits so it's only rubber there. They are deceptively comfy for a thin grip. I prefer the feel of a thin grip (like the ODI Elites which I've also run) and think these are a pretty good compromise. If you also try their Counterpunch I find it lets me loosen my grip a little because the outward pressure you can generate with your pinky against the Counterpunch helps your hands stay in place without overgripping.
Love the 711! When you find how to roll them for your preference - they are sick! The ledges in the backside are just amazing and actually gives you gobbles of grip!
I'll take Rogue's over ESIs any day of the week and thrice on Sundays. The ESI's to me feel like they pack out over time, like an old ski boot liner. They feel good at the start of a ride, but crappy by the end.
S and m hoder push on grips are literal couches for your hands. The lockons have that plastic sleeve that cut down on the cushion the push on gets you max comfy without getting too thick. The rubber is extra super soft too. No break in needed
The GE1 are an awesome grip, in either the normal or factory compound. Have used the OURY in the past, it's what I went to after I broke my wrist 10 years ago, but I moved on in general ergo since then, and went the Ergon GE1. Rate them very highly, albeit Jack should be ok .. finger is one thing, broken wrist is another ballgame.
I was running ODI elite pros at Maydena Bike Park for day one of a trip there. I then swapped to Deity Supracush grips day two and they were the dream for all the hanging on you need to be doing.
For first race you should try ESI grip extra chunky, super soft and super comfortable. I love odi elite race too, but odi are really cushy. Meybe help you!
Odi Rouge BMX with the moto collar. Collar is nice and big to rest the hand when tired. Its made to be able to be trimed so it doesnt foul levers. Thick grip that softens up nicely
I broke my hand in a rock garden. Got back on the bike with revgrips. The larger diameter ones. They were worth every penny. I could not hold onto my bars with stock grips while I was recovering.
I came from ODI Rogues, but loving my Ergon GA2 FAT grips so much now I dont even think about them!! love the bike, good luck with this season buddy! I'll be watching! Rear shock looks super interesting...!! no screen grabs...
Regarding the grips, maybe try the lizard skin north shore lock-ons. I've tried both the OURY and those and i feel like they're a bit softer. The OURY diameter is also just a bit to much i feel like. Hope this helps, cheers
Dude, DEFINITELY get the Oury single sided lock on grips, that's what I run, used to run the double sided lock on Oury's, 33mm OD, also do run the Ergon GA2 Fats and they're pretty good, but no where near the Oury's. Hey Jack, you're hiding those brakes, but everyone's seen 'em already from your other videos ;-D 😆
I wonder if the reasoning behind the AXS mech being a direct mount is to help reduce movement around the hanger mount. With the current version there is no cable to help keep it in place, so it tends to swing forward while going over the chunky stuff or doing big drops. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the tension spring is firmer too.
I just switched to PNW Loam XLs and they are nice and chunky while being on the soft side, this is after running 2 seasons on Lizard Skins chargers which were also pretty good.
Sensus Swayze push ons for a conventional grip feel, Wolf Tooth Fat Paws for true cush but those silicon grips have a very different feel which you might not like. Good luck at Maydena boi!!!
You should try the Esi Grip Chunky, confiest grip you can get for big hands. They will make your life easier while your hand is like that.Actually have an hand lesion and i´m loving the Ergon GA3
Switched to the Sqlab 711 Tech & Trail grips a season ago. They might not look the best, but my hands love them. There's also 3 different sizes depending on your hand size. I could imagine they'd help with your hand(s).
Odi Rogue (thick and spongey) and borrow a set of Texi’s hand protectors no idea if they really help but might create a bit of a placebo affect for injured hand in a race run
Jack I run an ODI longneck BMX slip on grip over the top of a regular ODI grip on each side. I install with compressed air and it’s much larger and more comfortable even then a meaty paw.
Check out the LoamLab counter-punch to possibly avoid this injury in the future & to help your grip by being able to push against them! You could pretty easily cut the end off a normal grip to use them as well.
how did you like those DT rims you tried out during your testing vids? The FR somethings..? Also, are you not going to try the Crankbro's Synthesis carbon wheels? Sick vid and cant wait for RS to drop the new Vivid as well ;-)
Push-on Oury are more squishy/damped than Lock-On Oury, since they don't have the hard plastic inner sleeve used in Lock-On grips. I used the push-on ones in the 1970s & 80s on motos. The ESI Chunky and Extra Chunky also are incredible, but use a BMX style end cap. Wolftooth has a grip that's basically the ESI type also. These are what I'd use if I was dealing with a recovering bad finger sprain etc and had a weaker grip than normal.
you could look at fatbar grips for wieghtlifting/pullups. may be too wide a grip though, my workout ones are 64mm. What is that paddle shifter? Looks like great upgrade to AXS standard paddle shifters.
Surprised ya not rocking them flash new DT fr541's on that rig Kev! And chuck some of grandad's Ergon GP series on with the side bar so ya can bounce off trees no issues.
Great rig rundown. Never understood the love for the Elite Pros, easily the worst grip I've ever run, so uncomfortable. The OG Ergon GE1s were super comfy, only grip I've properly worn out. Wish they still made them.
You should try the rev grips there is a model that is presto thick but they have a anti shock technology where the grips have some play so it absorbs all the vibrations
Tried to screenshot n got a phone call from Ben 10 saying he was gonna box me chops, not worth it fellas
Brooo Why You trynna do that. Your chops are as good as boxed.
Dude the thick deathgrips with the super sticky rubber are the best
I've been running Ourys for years until this last season when I tried Meaty Paws. Game changers for my big mitts and the pattern feels better. Oury are awesome grips but they can feel vague when you get tired or your hands get moist.
Meaty Paws are the ticket for big hands.
Bro, you said the M word.
Try out the Sensus Meaty Paws. Big grips that feel great and help my hands big time on these rough tracks we have in Arizona. 👌🏼
Try the large/thick Revgrips bro, absolutely awesome for helping ease the old hand pain, even when not injured to. Well worth a look I promise.
I can never run normal grips again
I swear by Revgrips. They are the business. I run them on soft and zero arm pump or vibrations.
+1 for the revgrips. Game changer for my old man hands.
This. I just switched my larges over for the new ergo ones and love them even more. Life savers after I broke my wrist
Im a convert.
RS bringing back the vivid air it seems 😅
bro called it lamo
Deity Supracrush have been awesome since I've swapped to them, definitely help cut down hand pump for me. The bike is looking so fresh 🔥
Plus 1 from me.
@@nocrustracing Plus 2.

Try to rap a handle bar tape on old grips after you sandet dem down it realy helps on long rocky desends
Odi Rogues are some pretty thick grips with a lot of damping as well.
ESI Super Chunky are even better damping wise, but they might rip if you crash
Odi rogues are a personal favorite! Super sticky, very comfortable ✌️
I'll take Rogue's over ESIs any day of the week and thrice on Sundays. The ESI's to me feel like they pack out over time, like an old ski boot liner. They feel good at the start of a ride, but crappy by the end.
@@derp5489 have you had any last that long without them ripping apart in a crash?
Race Face Good n Evil push on grips if you can find them, I've tried every thick push on grip & rev grips and they are the one I go back to.
S and m hoder push on grips are literal couches for your hands. The lockons have that plastic sleeve that cut down on the cushion the push on gets you max comfy without getting too thick. The rubber is extra super soft too. No break in needed
regarding grips try the ERGON Grips GD1 EVO Factory. They have a regular and a slim size, so it might be worth trying both out.
The GE1 are an awesome grip, in either the normal or factory compound. Odi F-1 Series Dread Lock V2.1 Lock-On Grips
My fave. Foamy feel and hold up well. Super Cush.
Maybe hand guards to protect those digits!
I was running ODI elite pros at Maydena Bike Park for day one of a trip there. I then swapped to Deity Supracush grips day two and they were the dream for all the hanging on you need to be doing.
Ok ok Man's had boots on the ground testing
For first race you should try ESI grip extra chunky, super soft and super comfortable. I love odi elite race too, but odi are really cushy. Meybe help you!
Wolf tooth fat paw grips they are made from silicone and have a few sizes available. Not many grips on the market will be as soft besides esi chunkys
I did enjoy the ESI extra CHUNKY for comfort. The ODI Ouri grips were always pretty good.
ESI Fatty’s are mint
Fresh to death!!!! I knew it was new brakes and new AXS... So sick
You forgot to mention the soon to be released XO SL drive train...
“I’m just throwing around #’s and hoping nobody asks any questions” haha. Stole a play out of my everyday life playbook.
Some thick push on grips are going to be better. You get all rubber and no hard plastic sleeve
The sensus meaty paw is the best grip out there for biger hands and it help with arm pump
Odi Rouge BMX with the moto collar. Collar is nice and big to rest the hand when tired. Its made to be able to be trimed so it doesnt foul levers. Thick grip that softens up nicely
Got some of these to try!
I broke my hand in a rock garden. Got back on the bike with revgrips. The larger diameter ones. They were worth every penny. I could not hold onto my bars with stock grips while I was recovering.
Superstar components evo grips - excel.
👍
I came from ODI Rogues, but loving my Ergon GA2 FAT grips so much now I dont even think about them!! love the bike, good luck with this season buddy! I'll be watching! Rear shock looks super interesting...!! no screen grabs...

I agree. Oury grips for days. Remain tacky when wet to I find if your hands are nude

Been loving the PNW Loam grips. Used to get hell sore hands fingas. Squishing into the loam is lush 🤘
I just switched to PNW Loam XLs and they are nice and chunky while being on the soft side, this is after running 2 seasons on Lizard Skins chargers which were also pretty good.
Will have a suss!
Didn't realise they offered an XL version, might have to give those a try for the next set of grips and see how they compare to the Oury's.
nice rockshox vivid shock that you got here😅🫡
Can't wait till that shocks put looks so sic
Love the old school Oury lock ons nothing better!
That shock is the vivid air. Actually the best shock ever made in my opinion. Had one on my gen 1 carbon nomad and loved it

best cushy grips:
SQ-lab Grip 711 Tech & Trail 2.0
Sensus Swayze push ons for a conventional grip feel, Wolf Tooth Fat Paws for true cush but those silicon grips have a very different feel which you might not like. Good luck at Maydena boi!!!
Try those ESI Super Chunky Grips
Wolf Tooth Fat Paws come to mind, although I've never tried them myself. No rocks in Kev's toolkit, lol! 💪
Nah M8 tool kit is weight conscious
I got the fat paw on one of my bikes. Reebok Pump for your hands 😂
DMR Deathgrips but in the Super Soft Raceday edition. Definitely putting the Moi Moi sticker in the same spot on the YT Jeffsy Primus!
Helll yeeeeee get it on there 😎
Burgtec Greg minnaar grips work great for me big dawg.
All the best for the season.
Big up the yt mob 🤙
You should try the Esi Grip Chunky, confiest grip you can get for big hands. They will make your life easier while your hand is like that.Actually have an hand lesion and i´m loving the Ergon GA3
Deity knuckledusters are cushy as bro try them, I have used them at Maydena for a techy session
I reckon the Chunky ESI foam grips will give you some cushion
Chunky I liked, Extra Chunky didn't work at all for me, to thick probably.
Try a deity supracush or lockjaws. I think they have more damping than the ODI grips
Ergon GA2 FAT grips have served me well
Sick
ODI rogue grips bro they are the best for hand stamina.
The rig is looking fresh with the blackbox parts🔥
Red rocket lookin FRESH
ESI silicone or the Wolftooth equivalent, try the fat paw if you got big mits.
I go the other way with grips, I get less arm pump with skinnier grips as I can wrap my fingers easier, get grip without so much forearm strength.
hmmmm truuu, think i need some cush for the sore bone but
That rig's gonna make you famous bro 🔥🤘🏼
Switched to the Sqlab 711 Tech & Trail grips a season ago. They might not look the best, but my hands love them. There's also 3 different sizes depending on your hand size. I could imagine they'd help with your hand(s).
Ok ok
JetBlack is an Australian co that makes some super chunky soft grips. Love ‘em
Odi Rogue (thick and spongey) and borrow a set of Texi’s hand protectors no idea if they really help but might create a bit of a placebo affect for injured hand in a race run
Get the odi connor fields grips really cushy and the grip is insane
Jack I run an ODI longneck BMX slip on grip over the top of a regular ODI grip on each side. I install with compressed air and it’s much larger and more comfortable even then a meaty paw.
Try out the Rev Grips!
Maximum cush for grips means push-ons. You should try the Renthal Ultra Tacky - word on the street is they're ultra tacky.
deity supracush, fatter grips and good compound, can hold on to them for days
Ergon GA3 grips, with wings for comfort. Rode a hire bike a few weeks ago and the biggest difference I noticed was the grips.
The dad's amongst us want a Lawn Check - What's the hotness in Black Beetle removal Kev?
Will have to get one for ya, Mate, Multi pest if they are already there, and acelepryn to prevent
Kev got the lawn looking 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah trying to recover from the lawn grub attack
I just switched to those ODI grips for this year.
Definitely a big boy/big foot thing wearing your swing arms with your feet! I do the same.
Yeah it makes a mess of ya paint work real quick ay
I have hand/wrist issues and use the rev grips. They make a huge difference on long descents. Worth a test if you can get them in time!!
Maybe try the de spesh Bridge Comp body geo saddle. Best saddle Ive ever ridden.
Try some ESI Chunky Foam grips uncle Kev.
fuggin ell ESI's have taken out the number 1 vote for sure
Wonder if tennis racket grip would stick if you wrapped it over the top of the grips
Haha 🤔
interesting decal choice on the X2
Interesting to see the flat top chain.
You need Rev Grips mate. Game changing if you have shitty hands. Soft race series inserts & all the tuning washers for ultimate cush
What’s that seal looking thing just above the seat collar? Just a bit extra to keep the dirt out?
Check out the LoamLab counter-punch to possibly avoid this injury in the future & to help your grip by being able to push against them! You could pretty easily cut the end off a normal grip to use them as well.
Yeahh they might of helped Me this time, but I think they are pretty sketchy for grabbing vines etc.
i personally think smaller diameter grips help my hand fatigue more than thicker grips, even if they have less padding
after years im starting to think the same. also every year i seem to like different thicknes so idk rly.
Very nice
Hope your gonna protect that finger. There’s a mob that makes a tiny little alloy bar end that sticks out just enough to protect the little pinky
You mean LoamLab Counterpunch Bar Ends?
The new sram goods lookin 💯

how did you like those DT rims you tried out during your testing vids? The FR somethings..? Also, are you not going to try the Crankbro's Synthesis carbon wheels? Sick vid and cant wait for RS to drop the new Vivid as well ;-)
I've got the new FR541 rims so far they have been awesome
I just had one on the rear for a day, it was super cold and didn't notice much. Texi has been trying the crankbros wheels so will see what He says.

Give the large revgrips a go, suspension in a grip!
Fat grips probably best to run what the XC marathon guys are on. Foamies. I've got them on a cruiser and they're so damn nice.
Try the thick REV Grips
Been running Lizard Skins Northshore grips for years now and love ‘em, they remain tacky in all conditions.
Try the ODI lock on BMX grips
ODI dreadlocks chunky and soft 👌🏻
