  • Live Coverage: WI v. Chandler Halderson - Dismembered Parents Trial
    Happening in Court:
Dep. Greg Leatherberry-Dane County Sheriff's Ofc.
    CHARGES:
    Victim Bart Halderson:
    COUNT 1: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 2: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
    COUNT 3: Mutilating a corpse
    COUNT 4: Hiding a Corpse
    Victim Krista Halderson:
    COUNT 5: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 6: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
    COUNT 7: Mutilating a corpse
    COUNT 8: Hiding a Corpse
A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

Familiarity with the area makes it a more comfortable environment to be in, he knows who to expect to be there/not be there, where to go, as far as Cres’s property goes he had an, albeit weak, excuse to be there. Perhaps he didn’t know of any remote/abandoned/unoccupied places to dump the parts and not risk being seen in a place where it’d be abnormal to see someone or where he himself clearly did not belong. I think he was so preoccupied and unprepared that he forgot or didn’t think to hide his location on Snapchat.I think he expected the parts to burn more easily/quickly than they did and he could reduce it all to ash that would be easy to disposed of. Most of all I think he was realizing as he worked away and too late at that that this was a massive undertaking and there were multiple complicating factors that he underestimated or had never considered at all. I don’t think he expected police to be as conscientious as they were, and thought they’d be more believing of his story and direct there efforts at looking for the parents and this mystery couple on traffic cams or store surveillance in areas all the way up to and beyond the camp. I think he was also quite exhausted and stressed by the amount of work it was taking and having to keep track of all the evidence he had to destroy or conceal, and of course needing to come up with a plausible explanation for things that were out the ordinary/suspicious. It’s likely that he ran out of time and had to do a lot of things with little thought put into it but just hoped for the best. He didn’t expect cat’s mom to be so suspicious of him or for her and cres to notice him not near the pool and then go looking for him, which ultimately led to the discovery of one of his dumping grounds.

I've been wondering the same thing!! Why go through all the traumatic work of dismembering your own parents only to dump them on your girlfriends property where her parents saw you there?!?! What the literal f*** was he thinking?! There are thousands of acres of forest in Wisconsin. He could have buried the weapon in a deep hole under brush when the water was low (so you couldn't see dig marks) and then randomly scattered his parents remains a state away deep into the forest and they at least wouldn't have been found for a long time. Don't take your phone with you so you can't be tracked. And he even texted from his moms phone inside his house! That how to get away with murder 101. Never have the phone with you! I'm happy he didn't get away with it but its painful how bad he was at it. Lol

    • @Nightfall-TCG
      @Nightfall-TCG Год назад +2

@@13ritneyannehe wanted to frame his girlfriends moms partner for the crime. That has to be the reason for it. I can’t see any other reason for purposely leaving the murder weapons on the same property that he left the “body” on. Idk if he had some sort of bad relationship with them or what it was but there is no way that wasn’t his thought process. But I’m thinking that he was experiencing extreme lack of sleep and possible exhaustion induced mania. He definitely wasn’t thinking clearly. He also thought that he had a good understanding of what police were capable of but clearly didn’t. He told the neighbour that they won’t be able to access his dad’s computer because it had serious safety features, he thought that as long as he turned off his moms phone and wrapped it in aluminum foil then they wouldn’t be able to access its recent locations not knowing that they were able to ping it from the last message it sent out (which obviously showed that he sent it from his house but acted like she texted him from up at the cabin), he said they can’t get a warrant for call logs and gps tracking if a phone unless someone dies. All these things are him thinking that he knows everything which ultimately lead to his easy capture.

Just looking at the axe creeps me out. This is such a horrendous and heartbreaking case.
Joel Guy looked disturbed, but Chandler looked like an average guy, who had a pretty girl friend and seemed to be living a normal life. Then at some point along the way, he became perversely adverse to growing up and cutting the apron strings.
So he moved to La La Land and became a looney toon.
I don’t know if he lost his sanity before he became a dangerous liar or if he became a liar and then lost his sanity when his dad found him out.
I so wish Bart had secretly done the checking up on Chandler’s fantasy life before tipping his hand. Maybe with a court order to have him committed if that’s even possible, then maybe he and Krista would still be alive. Such a sad thing for Mitchell, Cat and all who are devastated by the couple’s murder.😔
RIP Bart and Krista🙏🏼 You didn’t deserve this.

No, its not possible...not a court in the country would commit him unless Bart could prove he was a grave harm to himself and/or others. You can lie about what you do for a living, and where and if you go to college, to anyone anywhere anytime and you will not be psychiatrically committed. I wish Bart would've stopped playing head games with him. Pretending they had a "meeting" with the college when he already knew his son did go there. He should've said, "I found out you're not going to school and didn't have an insurance job. Though I am upset I'd like you to know we will get past this as a family. It's OK if you don't know exactly what you want to do yet at 23. I still love you as much as Mitch and always will fancy spacex job or not. I'm sorry I pried into your life, but I had to know the truth. Come talk to me whenever you feel better and we can talk about what we can do going forward. I hear Walmart/target/etc is hiring and I think you could start turning thing around by putting an application in there. I love you." Not, "I'm ready when you are (to continue this charade)".

I mean what can they do really? The evidence is so overwhelming, all they can really hope for is a mistrial or possibly parole once he’s convicted. He’s been lying to them too and it made them look like fools on cross-examination. They can’t go by anything he says so they really have nothing to go on. I don’t feel sorry for them but I thinks they’re doing what they can without looking like insensitive dicks.

I do believe, by going through this process, he knows that he knows he has to be punished, to what you say is the ultimate punishment. He knows he won't win this court case. He could have taken a plea and received a lighter sentence, but chose not to. Maybe I'm wrong.

You are not very smart aye?
You are not going to be getting less than a life sentence for pleaing guilty to two murders.
A plea does not automatically mean a lower sentence. Especially when the crimes are so serious.

    • @random19911004
      @random19911004 2 года назад +4

Everyone knows he is guilty. He is just making the prosecution do all the work and present everything. No use pleaing to a life sentence. Might as well go to trial and have the prosecution work, and have a 0.00001% chance of getting off by technicality or otherwise ( e.g. possible strange juror that doesn't want to convict).
