Asexual Awareness Week 2018 - Oct 21-27th
This is a mixture of Canon and HeadCanon Asexual characters.
As someone who identifies as Gray Ace I think it is important the Awareness week. As Asexuality is something I did not hear about till I was 19 and did not fully understand it till a few years later when I started questioning myself.
Canon
Shadowhunters - Raphael
Riverdale/Archie Comics - Jughead (is canon in comics not in show so far)
Emmerdale - Liv (Never watched but heard about her asexual story)
Varys - Game of Throne (Not really confirmed but based on the conversation with Oberyn he is Asexual and Aromantic)
Sirens - Voo Doo
HeadCanon
Harry Potter - Luna
Pushing Daisies - Ned the Piemaker
Sherlock - Sherlock Holmes
Doctor Who - The Doctor (I based then on some of his regenerations being more Ace than others, Eleven for example I don’t think is but Ten to me is Demisexual only for Rose and Twelve is just Ace)
Pacific Rim - Mako Mori
The Hobbit - Bilbo Baggins
Community - Abed Nadir
Supernatural - Castiel (At the beginning he was Ace to me but then the show made him more sexual. Also most people think he is gay for Dean)

My upsetness at Jughead not being asexual is large. Apparently Cole Sprouse also wanted him to be ace, but NOPE.
To be fair, Jughead isn't ace in every version of the comics I don't think, but it would've been nice.
jughead was aro-ace, in some comics he was just ace, but HE WAS ON THE SPECTRUM and they totally erased his sexuality - if he was gay and the show turned him straight, it would've caused a big upheaval but for aro-ace eraser, nothing happens, cuz its NoT ReAllY tHaT sRs
I know right! I try to head canon him as demi, since don't recall him showing any interest in someone he wasn't friends with before hand.
While I'm not ace myself, I'm really happy asexals are slowly getting more representation in media! They are a real sexuality, no matter what any ignorant people say!
Thank you 😭
Thank you bro ❤️
You forgot about the greatest ace icon of all time
*Spongebob*
Actually he isn't asexual as in no sexual attraction, but he's asexual in the scientific term
@@no.8Y In the Spongebob universe, I believe sponges reproduce sexually, since his mom was seen pregnant with him. I recall Spongebob just not having any interest in those matters, rather than being asexual scientifically speaking.
@@no.8Y Spongebob was confirmed by Hillenburg to be Ace back in 2002
@@amycampseros4829 yes. but not the asexual you are thinking of.
@@no.8Y It was related to a discussion on Spongebob's sexuality, so I find it highly unlikely that Hillenburg was talking about reproductive methods.
The scene between 12 and river is great cause she 100% knows and he is trying to be all romantic like and she's just like "It's very sweet of you to try"
100 %
Who and who?
Oh, Doctor Who? 2:00?
yes
Male asexuals lovely.
It would be amazing if we could find some of them in real life
I know a lot of Male Asexuals
@@thedramaclub2198 Hello I am an asexual trans male 👋
@@JEXICAN hey i am also an asexual Trans male! More Demi really, but still counts.

Well joke's on us Riverdale's directors decided to fuck it up
Never seen Riverdale what did they do?
@@emmabelles7727 they made him straight basically
Literally
The fact that I’m a huge shadowhunters fan and I’ve only just realised Raphael is asexual makes me feel so stupid but I love it
He is also aro! So two amazing reps right there
I only realized it after I watched it again when I came out!
The docter isnt exectly ace
Thay are the whole pride flag
Ace, pan and every thing inbetween
Different regenerations are capable of having their own individual orientations. the 18th regeneration could come out really horny for all we know.
@@normaldavid yeah but hornyness aint sexualety
The docter is at least bi
Prob pan
But sontimes acts ace
I think we can just both agree that time lords are space aliens with different cultural values that might confuse humans, and this is simply a matter of perspective.
@@normaldavid no
The doctor litterly said that gender en sexualety dont mean anything in the future when talking about him and jack
I guess it's up to interpretation, I think he's ace I also believe that for Sherlock (in thinkin specifically Benedict cumberbatch) but others interpret him as gay
as someone who's asexual, correcting the definition at the beginning. we're not sexuality attracted to *anyone*. not men and women, anyone. not a single person.
Yeah someone's who is asexual can still be romantically attracted to others
Actually, asexuality is best described as someone who feels little to no sexual attraction
@@izabela8686 yeah. we're not sexually attracted to anyone. the 'little' would be greysexual, which while in the ace spectrum, is not ace.
@@sonicSnap really? I thought asexuality was the umbrella term. Sorry, I'm not that educated on this but I'm trying to learn because I'm considering that I might be asexual
I'm 14, am I too young to know?
@@izabela8686 ace means asexual. and no, i'm like. 13 and i know for a fact im asexual
OMG I also forgot about the King of the Asexuals, Bilbo Baggins himself!
That makes my ace, LOTR-loving heart so very, very happy.
Hi there! I'm ace but I've never seen any representation. I've also just started watching the Hobbit and I love the dwarves, bilbo, Gandalf, radagast etc.
Can you tell me how is Bilbo exactly Ace, tho? I just like to get it confirmed.
(I've also never read the books so my knowledge is very low)
@@Ranahi_Itma Happy to help! (As a late-blooming aroace, I never quite realized why I liked Bilbo's character so much until I realized the following things):
- Bilbo never expresses romantic or physical attraction to anyone, ever, in either the books or the movies (#Bagginshield is a crackship, born of Bilbo and Thorin's very well-rounded, emotionally laden friendship).
- Bilbo never dates anyone, hobbit or otherwise, throughout his entire documented life
- Bilbo never marries
- When Bilbo does decide Bag End is feeling a tad empty, he adopts Frodo, a recently orphaned relative, who refers to him as 'Uncle Bilbo' from that point on
- In short, although there is always room for creative imaginings and reading between the lines, Bilbo Baggins never has any canon romantic/physical relationships of any kind, never fathers his own biological children, and only ever cohabitates with his adopted nephew
If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck.... #itsprobablyaduck/ace ;-)
@@TakaraoftheElves mind. Blown.
I now see what you mean.
I NOW SEE WHAT YOU MEAN!!!
😆😆😆😆😆😆🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I'm so happy, thank you. 💕
Edit:
I'm also pretty late. I found out about asexuality a couple of years ago. All this time, as a religious person, I thought I was mastering the whole "do not look at another with passion or else you're committing adultery" thing like a pro. And those who wait until marriage or never marries have a natural inclination to being celibate or maintaining abstinence, despite learning it's actually a choice, not a natural inclination. And I considered myself to be a late bloomer during my teenage years.
But when I learned about asexuality/aromaticism/demi.
It all became clearer to me. 😆🥳🖤💜♠️💚
@@TakaraoftheElves wouldn't that make Frodo ace too tho
@@lemin0u Bingo. 😉
I love this!! I just want to point out, re your list in the description, that I’m pretty sure at some point Moffat said he thought Eleven was ace. Or at least ‘more ace’ than the other incarnations. Which was one of the greatest revelations of my life, haha.
Eleven is my doctor and I was so happy when I found that out.
That must be one of the reasons eleventh is my favourite doctor
Then Twelve came along and Eleven was quickly demoted to the second most ace.
you can find compilations of him being horribly unaware and incredibly and awkwardly ace
@@billyswift5394 the doctor having river doesn’t prove that, it proves he isn’t aromantic and they aren’t the same thing
This is so beautiful, and I love the representation. Also love that you used pushing daisies
Beth Parker Same!
Sherlock is believed to be Ace by most of the writers
it’s no secret cherlock is ace let’s be honest
I haven't seen the show. But I know what ppl talk about. And whenever they ship Sherlock with someone (let it be Watson or some chick ) it just seems.... off.
Like ehh... no. Thank you but, no.
@@Ranahi_Itma hes clearly ace in the show watch it and then have ur opinion
Sherlock is not only ace, but he is aro. It is completely 100% sure when you read the books. ^^
I didn’t realize I was ace until I was 18. I was never interested in sex, and every one of my past girlfriends took it as an insult. A lot of people think I’m a closeted gay masking it as asexual, but that is just not true. Being with someone, anyone, sexually is uncomfortable to me.
The asexual is not the only invisible sexuality, but yes the most. Loved this so much
Also, can I get a shirt which says, which type of sex you prefer and a big fat NO in the ace flag
@@toocoldforyouhere8353 I don't know about that, but you can get a T-shirt with the word "Nope" in the colours of the asexual flag.
Am i the only one who just clicked because of David Tennant in the thumbnail but almost ended up crying?
Just me? Okay
I may have clicked too because of that. Lol!
I saw raphael in the first clip and almost started sobbing.
One of my best friends is ace, as well as a youtuber i love, Shubble, but neither have rlly talked about it to me. So when i saw raphael on shadowhunters and saw him and izzy and him explaining asexuality i was shocked. Couple months later and i realize im asexual and it just all makes sense now
I love shubble!
This is so good. It has been a long day of questioning myself and it's just good to see myself reflected in all these characters, canon or not. It's like a reassurance that it's okay to be me. Thank you 💚
I've been dealing with a friend (who I have to continue dealing with bc we're both part of the LGBTQ+ group at college) who says some fucked up shit about ace folk (and has for a year) so seeing this just makes me cry so thank you
Sorry to hear that, that sounds rough. I hope your friend realises that they are wrong soon.
@@sturmklinge9642 Unfortunately they didn't but at least they're no longer in my life!
@@Khearts530 oh, that's probably for the best then. I hope you have a good week!
I love this! As an asexual its nice to be represented. But I would like to point out. (not being rude, I just wanna inform) being asexual is mostly not having /sexual/ attractions to people. We /can/ still have romantic attractions to people. Not feeling romantic attraction to people is aromantic. Not feeling romantic or sexual attractions usually mean the person is both aro and ace.
I just wanted to point this out, because a lot of the dialogue in this was
“I don't like girls or boys”
And for me, I can't relate (I'm a hard lesbian)
And I'm letting people know! I don't mean to be rude, I just wish to inform.
I'm not hating on this! I'm very happy to see that these things exist, I just wish to help people understand us better :)
Thanks for pointing it out :] I'm biromantic and asexual, though im also on the aromantic spectrum somewhere, so people acting like aro and ace are the same thing annoy me quite a bit^^'' always glad to see im not the only one trying to educate folks that do that
I only just realised abed was asexual. That makes me happy.
Same I love that
I too enjoy the thought of fictional characters suffering socially
I don’t think he is though. He has looked at Annie’s “chest” and recorded a s3x scene with Troy for his movie. He could be, but it isn’t likely.
@@azumarill964 I forgot abt the Annie’s chest scene. Your probably right. But still, it’s possible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wow, there's more people than I was expecting! That's good
*Radio Demon intensifies*
You know, I like to be loved. I like to have a special somebody. But it's buried under layers and layers of anxiety and stress and insecurity and trust issues. What if I can't satisfy them? What if they don't love me like I love them? What if I let them down? What if I let my gaurd down and they laugh at me and leave me like everyone else does?
I want love but I'm scared. And I've got no time for heartache. Life's too short. I guess I'll be.
i felt that
The fact you included Jughead-
So beautifully done. I legit cried. We never get mush representation and this was just what I needed
It’s making me emotional to see the representation 😭😭
this is so well made
y'all aces are epic
Thank you for including Doctor Who!!! The doctor is super ace coded and I believe 11's actor said that the character was asexual :D
Multiples actors who played the Doctor did it in fact :)
David Tennant (10th Doctor and 14th)
"It's usually not a sexual thing with the Doctor he's a fairly asexual character"
Matt Smith (11th Doctor)
"No The Doc's idea of an orgy is playing chess with an ostrich, his brain disentangle work in that way. He would find it weird and peculiar. He is quite asexual."
Tom Baker (4rth Doctor)
Colin Baker (6th Doctor)
"I made my Doctor to be asexual and aromantic, love is a human emotion and The Doctor is not human"
@@gay4sswhovian :O that's so neat! I didn't know about the earlier versions of the doctor being talked about as asexual.!
@@emerald3960 The Doctor being asexual is an headcanon (canon now I guess lol) since the Fourth Doctor who said once "you're a beautiful woman, probably." The probably was added by Tom Baker (the actor) and since then lots of Whovians (including the new showrunner) just accepted that they're asexual so yeah
I’m crying! Literally! This was lovely and I said to myself, I hope Sherlock’s in this video because he is my ace icon and I really relate to him in a ton of ways (not just the head cannon ace wise but also with the brain thing)! So it was awesome to see him included in this!
Anyways this is going on my favorites playlist because I’m going to watch it again and cry later no doubt
ABED TALKING ABOUT FARSCAPE IN A BAR WILL LIVE IN MY HEART FOREVER.
Seriously, most relatable ace rep I've ever seen.
"What is WRONG with you that you can sit here this whole time and NEVER pick up on the fact a man is hitting on you?"
"Oh i actually did pick up on it after a while"
"AND?!"
"I just really, really like talking about Farscape."

So happy to see some of my favorite characters in this video (Abed, Luna, Sherlock, the Doctor, etc) *happy asexual noises*
As someone who is ace and demiromantic and pan this makes me happy.

Too bad this didn't come out a year later. Alastor would of messed up this video so much.
It's sad that Asexuals only have 1 week to show the world who we are..

Bollocks. We can show who we are whenever we want. It's not limited to one stupid week. And yeah it might piss some people off but those people are gonna pissed off no matter what so fjuck them (not literally)! Be proud, all the time, even when it get's difficult sometimes.
@@medeaworbs6970 ok
Spoilers for doctor who below
Isn't river the doctor's wife though? And didnt the clone doctor go live with rose? I don't think the doctor is asexual. Prolly just pan
well my little confused friend, yes he has a wife, but asexual people can still experience romantic attraction and get married. He's likely much more towards not being interested in the act of sex itself, because Time Lords don't have sex to reproduce, its all scientific machines and stuff. And the reason the clone doctor who went with Rose might not be asexual, is because he's now human, and he got that human desire to have sex and reproduce through it. It does make sense because asexuality is very complex and it can cover most of the doctors behaviour, I'm not sure but if there ever are any mentions of him having sex before it could be because his partner asked and he wanted to make them happy, I'm pretty sure he can experience romantic attraction just based on actions through the show and yes I am just using "he" because I'm currently watching Matt Smith's series and also I think the doctor would be fine with any pronoun, given that they could be any of them.
Is this reply structured well? No, sorry bout that.
Yeah! It was fuckin gridlocked this afternoon. Is now a good time to tell you that might be the end of our awareness week?😩😤😩
As someone who is asexual, I know this is years old but some of this is also coming across as aromantic. For example the one clip where she says something about “I just don’t like anyone.” I know the creator definitely intend on like that or Wtv. I just wanted to remind everyone that there is a difference between being aromatic (little to no ROMANTIC attraction), and asexual (little to no S3XUAL attraction). And I just see that the two are often combined into one, even though you can be just aromantic or just asexual or you can be both (me fr). No but just felt the need to ramble honest =)
me trying to see how many shows I'm gonna start watching for one character...
Shoutout to my fellow deities✨
Ooh, look, Kenebick Bumblecumble
Why is luna in so many of these? Her character literally gets married to Rolf Schemander, who is Newts Schemanders (from fantastic beasts) grandson
And??? Asexuals can feel romantic attraction, just not sexual attraction. It's completely okay for an ace to be married x
@@SophieHanleyx "She eventually married Rolf Scamander, the grandson of Newt Scamander, a famed Magizoologist, with whom she had twin sons, Lorcan and Lysander."
Because I thought it was weird she is so many ace comments considering she not only got married but had children.

I relate so much to this.
Awe 🥰🥰 thats beautiful love the song as well 🥰🥰
Luna Lovegood isn’t asexual, she has a child with Rolf Scamander ._.
Having a child doesn't necessarily mean not being asexual, as it's more a matter of attraction to sex in itself. Some just don't really want to, but if their significant other wants to, they can do it. (Or if she really wanted a child she could have done it for that goal too)
But i agree on the fact that she doesn't really appear as an asexual
wait why is Cas in here lmao
I didn't know about Bilbo
I only came here for Doctor Who.
I don‘t know most of them but Luna Lovegood had two children with Rolf Scamander und the entire Hobbit trilogy almost never focusses on sexuality. So why are Luna and Bilbo here? xD
Dude. Asexuals can have children?
Asexual means not being sexually attracted... one meaning is you don’t really do it for the pleasure. You can still be asexual and choose a partner to have children with just to have the idea of having kids.
@@ventisprout1119 Really? I always thought they just adopt.
@@bastianp4600 they can if they want. People have options lol. There’s many ways to have kids. The act of doing it with someone, donating eggs/semen, and adopting. Some aces wouldn’t mind have sex but they wouldn’t particularly enjoy it but it’s the act that counts when you do it. Not the sexual enjoyment.
What about Jack Sparrow? 😄
I wouldn't say he's ace... at least I never viewed him as such personally. Too touchy and flirty, making deliberately sexual remarks at both Angelica and Elizabeth... but if you headcanon him as ace then that's absolutely valid of course
Can asexual people get married
absolutely. why do you think not?
I didn't think they was interested
@@ExhaleToDecend while ace people do not feel sexual attraction, they can still want a romantic relationship with a partner. and in a romantic relationship you can absolutely marry. some may not be interested in marriage, but that is also the case in nonace relationships. it really depends on the person and not their sexual preference. (on another note: aromantic people can also marry, not because of romantic feelings but for other reasons.)
