- The Jackie bag has seen many changes since it came out in the 1950's, but the upcoming bolt snap clasp is my least favorite. Why remove the perfect piston closure? Perhaps Sabato De Sarno wanted to revisit an old design or have lighter hardware. Perhaps it's appropriate for the new creative director to update the every changing but always classic Jackie ❤️
I greatly enjoyed the show, but I'll be grabbing a current Jackie as soon as possible before the piston is replaced 😊

I totally agree I love a vintage bag and I love to use my older bags that are no longer available. My bags don’t need to be the latest.

Agreed, think the piston clasp really does add something to it! But I didn’t notice the change until you pointed it out 😅
It was hard to see tucked behind the model's arm! I'm a huge fan of the piston, and I'm wondering if the bolt clip will take more effort to open 🤔 but we'll see!

You make some great points. I think there’s a fine line when updating a classic. Dior does this a lot, and IMO they do it too frequently where they make a lot of their bags look dated quickly. On the plus side, there’s always the resale market if the piston closure goes away!!
That's a good point about Dior. I've heard people say they didn't want to buy the small size Lady Dior because the strap is changed so often. This may be totally wrong, but I've gotten the impression that the Jackie hasn't been a huge seller for Gucci. I never see them on the street, and I've never seen anyone trying them on in store. It's always the marmont or a canvas bag. If that's true, I'm wondering if they figured there was no harm in changing it 🤔

I wonder why that would be... 🤔 the great Jackie mystery! I'm curious to see the new bag in person because I think it might be more effort to open and close 💕
Not a fan of that new clasp either. Definitely makes it look like a Rebecca Minkoff bag. And, I do appreciate that they let a classic bag be updated. Some other fashion houses (Chanel, cough cough) should take a page from Gucci's book
