    This is an excellent and very informative session. Even knowing about IBS, there were still things to learn. I like her approach - it is straight forward and she doesn't waste time talking about the facts or still learning about them. I enjoyed listening to this very knowledgeable doctor.

    Thanks for sharing. I love cheese too especially melted on sprouted tortillas. Did you find an alternative food to substitute for cheese? or for making a pizza?

      That is a hard one to give up! There are many other alternatives for vegan cheeses, you should give a few a try to see what you enjoy!

    I was disappointed that nobody mentioned gluten. I would’ve liked to know Dr. Pasricha’s take on how gluten affects IBS.

    The protein rich plants like lentils are tolerated in excessively small quantities. Which plant based food contains protein containing all the amino acids ????

    • @GoodnessLover
      @GoodnessLover  2 года назад

      You'll be glad to know that it is not necessary to get all of the amino acids in one food or even one meal. All plants contain all amino acids, though in varying amounts. If one were to follow a balanced whole food, plant-based diet that met their caloric needs, it would be nearly impossible to be deficient in protein. It's worth mentioning that the meat and dairy industries have invested a lot of money in marketing campaigns that falsely made people worry about getting enough protein, while also positioning their products as the only solution. Protein deficiency is virtually unheard of and only occurs in populations that are not getting enough overall calories or in people who have disease states that alter their nutritional needs (like cancer).

    How can we feed ourselves with plant based food if they cause symptoms??? You ban animal based food and diary but what shall we eat?

      It is generally recommended to gradually increase the amount of fiber in one's diet. Fiber is essential for supporting health via nurturing the microbiome, but if the microbiome has become depleted, fiber will trigger symptoms. Anyone that has been on a fiber-deficient diet will be lacking in the necessary microbes for digesting fiber. The only way to get past it is to go just a little at a time, very gradually increasing the portions and variety of fiber as you go. As the microbiome bounces back, the symptoms should go away. This is a great time for consulting one's trusted gut health doctor for individual recommendations for healing the microbiome!
