Always love your videos! And I really appreciated the off script talk about Paris traffic. Wish you’d release an entire vlog of your trip there. Take care!
16-35 G Zoom is the better option in 90%+ of cases, and it's $100 less. Also, the 16-35 is 50 grams lighter despite having 10mm more range, a fair trade for the F4 vs F2.8 shortcoming.
$100 for an extra stop, and sacrificing the power-zoom, is absolutely worth it from my standpoint. But... I'm the dude who spent the money on the 16-35 f/2.8 GMII and now wish I wouldn't have given the reviews this lens is getting. XD
Pricing in Australia 16-35mm PZ is AUD$1255 (best price) and 16-25mm is AUD$2,199 RRP (Best price $1899). So that's nearly a $650-$1000 difference for us.
I have both of these lenses as of last week. I prefer have a 2.8 and with my A7RV, cropping from 25mm to 35mm isn’t that much of an effort. I’d rather have the extra stop especially when I shoot in lighting conditions that would need me to bump up my ISO to at least 12,800.
Great review as always . I have the 20mm 1.8 and debating selling to get this lens for the versatility. I do some video more photography but think this would be great for travel
I am starting from zero, had cannon in the past with very light hobby photography but now I need to record some product videos, video blogs for my company and get back into city and landscape photography. I have been looking and I am thinking of a one lens set up and that is the Sony 16-35mm ii - I know its super expensive and it will hurt but I get a wide angle and my favourite 35mm and a year later I can think of adding the 85mm and just having a two lens setup period.. Would love to know peoples thoughts on this. Paris and Italy for thieves are terrible, I live here in Europe but spent a lot of time in South Africa so I am super cautious but doesn't mean its not possible. Stay safe....
This is the first lens that has made me consider selling my 20mm G. That said the f1.8 comes in handy when photographing dimly lit interiors and for astrophotography. I just need to decide whether slightly worse images in these situations is worth the extra focal range.
I’m gonna need a longer review of this 16-25mm to the 16-35mm GM2 . I have a student discount from B&H that allows me to get the GM2 for $1950 , but still waiting for the edu price for the 16-25mm , I’m thinking it will be about $1050 . Trying to see what’s the justified price for a hobbiest that does paid gigs about 1 or 2 times every couple months . I have a Sony A7IV. Been looking for a good wide angle zoom lens .
Get a zeiss prime used, save massive $, image will look better, the sony is sharp enough you can easily crop the 9mm difference, you wont be one of the morons buying a 16-25mm LMAO
I would love to hear your feedback on my budget setup.. I have the A6700 and purchased the Sigma 30mm f1.4 ($285). I am thinking of getting as my next lenses, the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 ($549), and then get the Tokina 11-18mm f2.8 ($399). I'm doing mostly portraits, some weddings and occasional travel videos.
@@hvchimi Yes! I’ve been looking at an 85mm too, however, the crop factor changes the 85 to 127.5mm (a 55mm is the closest to a 85mm equivalent - APSC). That’s why I thought about the Sigma 18-50mm (27-75mm equivalent) as the next lens.

😊Hi Manny! Like you, I’m from Chicago and I’m constantly looking over my shoulder when I’m out with one of my cameras! So your comment on your time in Paris I can certainly relate. May I suggest that you and your family visit Tokyo, Japan. It’s a photographer’s paradise. Imagine centuries old temples next door to the cutting edge new. But best of all it is one of the safest cities in the world! I was shocked by how clean Tokyo is; Chicago can’t compare. The food is amazingly good and with huge variety! Last year I was there and did some nighttime shooting and I was out until 3AM. No one bothered me and I felt perfectly safe! Perhaps you’ll put Tokyo on your bucket list! All the best. Roy Harris

Hi, nice and informative video! Did you have the chance to get a lens profile for Lightroom yet? If not, do you use another lens's profile or correct it yourself? Thank in advancefor any tipps.
Do you think the Sony is worth the $300 over the Sigma for video AF performance alone? Really love the 28mm, internal zoom, and colors of Sigma glass, but this would be my only wide-angle for real estate, music videos, and some wedding work, so I'm trying to buy once and be done. Shooting on an a7S III btw.
I’m not sure stopping at 25mm is smart, the point of using a zoom instead of a prime is for versatility, this doesn’t really give u that. You didn’t mention it but I’m sure I saw it had an aperture ring If thats right? That’s huge and definitely something that may sway someones decision especially those coming from Fuji or Leica.
Nice lens, shame it’s not a 16-35 but to get the size it’s going to be F4. I use the 20mm F1.8. Great for low light. Why does physics get in the way of the ideal lens?
There's already 3 of them.. The 16-35 F4 PZ, GM and GMII. Why would you need another? The PZ is not even 2 years old. This seems more logical. Both GMs are F/2.8 already too
