We’re back with another episode of the Players to Watch’ series, taking a look at the premium, budget and value options amongst forwards for the 2018/19 Premier League season.
Having scored 104 goals across the last 4 seasons, Harry Kane sets the standard for a top FPL forward. His tally of 29 goals, 2 assists and 217 FPL points last time around means he comes in at £12.5m, understandably making him the most expensive forward option.
But besides the Spurs man, who else should we consider upfront next season?

Premium Pick: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.0)
Since arriving at Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made 12 starts between Gameweeks 26 and 38 last season, where he returned an impressive tally of 10 goals, 4 assists and 87 FPL points.
During that period (GW26-38), the Arsenal forward’s tally of 19 efforts on target was level with Kane and only beaten by Salah (22), while his involvement in 13 ‘big chances’ was on par with the Egypt international.
Aubameyang’s average of 6.7 points per match was more than Kane (5.9), Firmino (4.9) and Lukaku (4.8), while only Sergio Aguero narrowly managed more amongst forwards, with 6.8 points per match.
With a full pre-season under his belt and no involvement in the 2018 World Cup, unlike Aguero and Kane, we can surely expect even bigger things from the 29-year-old in the coming season.
Budget Pick: Marko Arnautovic (7.0)
After playing as a striker for 16 of his 31 appearances in the 2017/18 season, Marko Arnautovic has been reclassified for the new season and is now a forward in FPL.
He was directly involved in 18 of West Ham’s goals last season (11 goals, 7 assists), with 9 of his 11 goals coming when playing as a centre-forward.
In 2018 (GW23-38) only Kane (13), Aubameyang (14), Sterling (14) and Salah (20) provided more than Arnautovic’s 12 FPL involvements (6 goals, 6 assists).
His 20 efforts on target in that time was beaten by only Salah, with 27 and Kane, with 29, while only De Bruyne (7) and Sterling (10) provided more than his 6 assists.
The Austrian international has lined up as a forward during West Ham’s pre-season matches so far, so looks set to continue that role under new manager, Manuel Pellegrini.
Value Pick: Roberto Firmino (9.5)
Roberto Firmino enjoyed his best ever Premier League goals tally, finding the back of the net 15 times last season, while providing 8 assists.
He’s now spent 3 years in the Premier League, providing a total of 36 goals and 27 assists in that time and looks completely at home, alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané.
Firmino’s average of 4.9 points per match last season was more than Lukaku (4.8) could manage and bettered by only Kane (5.9), Aubameyang (6.7) and Aguero (6.8) amongst forwards, who have each been given much higher price tags than the Brazilian.
The Liverpool forward’s tally of 38 efforts on target last season was 4th best amongst forwards, with only Lukaku (43), Aguero (43) and Kane (76) producing more but no forward provided more than Firmino’s 8 assists or his 57 attempted assists.
With strong underlying numbers like these, Firmino looks set to once again provide value amongst forwards, offering a reliable alternative to the more expensive premium picks.

I know the bench is pretty weak besides Gray, but I don't know where to downgrade and if it'll be worth it to have a slightly stronger bench. My thinking behind this team is that once the WC players come back, I will drop Salah for KDB and Lacazette/Firmino for Kane

Downgrade Fabianski to a 4m keeper as Ederson is a set and forget. Frees up .5m to spend.
Surprised to see David Luiz ownership so low. There's a good chance he'll start for Sarri (he has been in pre season) & could definitely pick up clean sheets and goals. 5.5 is an absolute bargain for him
Aubameyang will be superior to Kane this season as he will match him for goals and also Auba is more likely to get more assists and BPS
who is the better choice for the first 4 fixtures tosun or arnautovic? i think arnautovic will get overall better numbers but everton has easier first 4 fixtures.

I have both ramsey and richarlison. Richarlison could easily transfer to jota or walcott if he busts. And ramsey could transfer to mykhi or martial if he busts.

The Idealist wouldn’t risk Zaha or Arnie for a few games, West Ham have a new manager and tough fixtures until November, and for Zaha he might leave and if he doesn’t he may struggle since palace aren’t gonna be great probably so he may lack goals

I'm actually in favour of having a half decent bench. Their prices will increase if they perform well rather than 4m players decreasing and reducing how much money you have to spend.
I'd replace all of your midfield apart from Erikson. Put Sane in as he's had no WC and is guaranteed a start. Get Salah in there as well.

Yeah, that is a concern. If he returns with 1 week to go, I think he has a chance but we'll have to wait and see.
not just Firmino, Im very surprised there are still tons of players that are still yet to return to training with the like of Jesus, Aguero, Otamendi and so on

For a £7.0 forward, would you go with Arnautovic, Zaha or Tosun? I’m tempted to go with Zaha, considering his kind run of fixtures. Arnautovic’s first several gameweeks look quite tough...

I wouldn't go with him I'd take firmino or drop to arnie/tosun/zaha. Brady relies on pace and he's coming 32 so his legs might be failing a bit. Also vardy and mahrez together was such a good partnership one of the best in the Oren even last year and now mahrez gone I don't think vardy will score as many

West Ham have some tough fixture so can be risky and
I wouldn't leave the bench that weak unless the plan is to wildcard in the first few weeks.

Would you recommend Zaha over Arnautovic for GW 1-4? I have Zaha in my team right now.
Depends where Zaha ends up or whether he stays at Palace really - there's still a chance Spurs/Chelsea could go in for him. But I think Arnie's first 4 fixtures are alright on balance - with the two home fixtures against BOU and WOL.
