I’d never heard of this composer and what an astonishing body of work, - a revival is needed- watch out Debussy, you’ve got some very serious competition my friend! 🌈
Consider another line of enthusiasm cuz trying to take down Debussy makes you look like a resentful sourpuss, so why should I ever listen to you? You sound like people complaining that Mozart's sister didn't get a bigger break in life.
Excellent, maaany thanks Clare for this work! )) Waiting for your LP of de Montgeroult late this year! Hope you'll record all her music anthology. As Bach was rediscovered after a century, de Montgeroult is now rediscoving after 2 centuries... Pre-Beethoven, pre-List, fresh and wonderfull and very actual music for now. Perfect for musical colledge classes as well as for concerts! Please note years of each ethude in the capture here (1788 to 1819 guess, important for history understanding). Clare, you play it very adequate and interesting! Only 111th is too fast, IMHO, it needs more 'pathetic' performance. BTW, for her time there was no modern piano instrument (only early pre-versions, which sound much different), it seems it would be interesting to play her music also in the manner of late Mozart, another color of her music. You can try! Good luck!
Some have been published by Editions Modulation (www.editionsmodulation.com/en/author/dorival/) or you can download the first edition from IMSLP - click on the 'Books' tab and download the 'Cours complet pour l'enseignement du forte piano' here: imslp.org/wiki/Category:Montgeroult,_H%C3%A9l%C3%A8ne
Debussy? Mendelssohn, surely? (And isn't no. 36 a slowed-down version of the finale of Mozart's Sonata in C minor?) Whatever, a lovely discovery, especially the first three. Thanks for posting.
I don't think why, but this good pianist doesn't convince me completely .... it is not always very clear, precise....i prefer someone as Ian Buckle. Anyway this music is wonderful ❤❤❤❤
C'est au château de Mongeroult que j'ai fait découvert Hélène de Montgeroult et son histoire, avant que sa musique ne m'enchante.
Gorgeous. I eagerly await the recording.
very good! I am a french musician and I have 14 years old
bonjour, qu'est-ce que vous jouez comme instrument ? la musique est une chose magnifique..

I doubt if the original was played so slowly. It was not the done thing at t he time. This style came with romanticism. and inceased in 20th c.
Why would Debussy have competition? They're from different style periods and their lives didn't overlap. Beautiful music, though.

Rather some enjoyable Mendelsohn's style to be admired

Simply wonderful!!! Thank You
Trés joli et admirablement interprété ! Merci
admirable music and playing
Beautiful. Thank you, Clare.
Il y a des gens qui disent H de Montgeroult se situe entre Mozart et Chopin. Je dirais plutoôt entre Beethoven et Chopin.
Anyone knows where to find the music sheets of these outstanding studies? Looking for them desperatly ❤

you probably mean the a - minor sonata......
A slow-down version of a piece of Mozart's ?? I think de Montgeroult doesn't need to take the music of someone else! 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤
So much easier on the ears than when played on the tinny and honkytonk fortepiano. Thank you for not being one of those original instrumental freaks.
