Sometimes it's nice because you can be sure loot isn't hiding behind gore. I turn gore off when I want something from an event, where there are so many enemies dying that it's hard to tell what's being dropped
completely forgot how long it lasts in vanilla. if you play modded i recommend nyccs nohit mod, in the mod config you can change how long gore and dust lasts
Being able to turn off gore and blood doesn't only make things family-friendly, but also reduce lag from it, pretty sure most players that have low-spec devices uses this option (including me), though not all particles were completely removed, which a performance-optimizer mod comes into play
Still, the Chinese Terraria texture packs manage to bring bosses, even if quite different than the original ones, that hide the giga eyeballs, blood and all of the bosses, while still keeping their original *Terraria feeling* .
to be honest i use that option it just removes the right amount of gore for me most of the game is playable with someone watching you or smth it doenst need to change the bosses or the crimson
I accidentally turned on this mode and at first I was confused, I didn’t understand where the blood was, but I like that this option is there, it will obviously come in handy for people who can’t stand a lot of blood or who are not allowed to play violent games
I generally don't like overly bloody games, I have this option off 24/7. This is just how the game looks normally for me, everything dies in a poof of smoke. The crimson and blood moon are plenty.
I think this setting makes stuff like Crimson, Corruption, and Blood Moons more exciting. When the game is brutal and bloody these feel like normal things, they don't feel like scary events. When you turn off blood it makes these feel like terrifying places, giant corpses, and the Wall of Flesh is actually terrifying. Subverting expectations leads to some of the best moments people have had in games.
One time and artist I follow on Twitter uploaded a drawing of her character with a slightly bleeding nose and someone replied "hemophobia trigger warning please"
I'm gonna be honest, I totally played this game with blood and gore off until a few years after when I started to get annoyed by the clouds blocking the screen during hoards and stuff
Wait that means dreadnoughtilous is actually way easier with gore off since the most difficult part with his fight is seeing the dark blood projectiles in the dark red background that sometimes even rains blood So having white and light red projectiles makes it way clearer to see... That's an interesting way to farm him
I always have blood and gore off since it covers up items on the ground alot it does look better, but if they made items layer over the gore it would be a lot more usable lol
Its more focused on optimization then censoring things like blood, if that was the case the option would make the game like chinese terraria, that literally changes even bosses sprites. Still a pretty good option if you have crappy pc.
I keep the option off to prevent lag because my computer isn't the greatest. Also while I'm not disturbed by gore I'm also not so attached to body parts flying around that I would miss it being on.
I usually use this when using Fargo or any mod with something that boosts spawns to an unreasonable amount so that loot doesn't get covered by the gore and when in farms it helps my potato computer stay alive.
Even if the player turns into clouds when dying, it still shows the most brutal death messages and makes the most gruesome sound effect in the game. Unlike in other games, I had to avoid dying in Terraria at all costs even if it means pressing Alt-F4 as soon as health gets low. It developed into a phobia. This is why I quit playing Terraria last year. I am never coming back until Relogic fixes this.
When I first played Terraria back in 2020, I had Blood and Gore turned off so the game wouldn’t lag from all the bits. Nowadays though, I keep it on for the full experience.
When I was playing terraria at the age of 8 my dad took away the option of blood and gore to this day I sometimes activate it even though I am already 15 years old
There is an easy mode in Terraria, it is buffs and potions. A lot of potions are so obnoxious to make that players don't. If you do make use of regeneration, iron skin, and endurance you can cut damage massively and have passive healing. A worm scarf cuts damage even more. A food buff helps even more. If you want to be able to see how easy Terraria is play on Journey so you can get item duplication so grinding isn't a pain. Set the difficulty slider to normal or higher. The cry realizing how invincible a warrior really is and the constant nerfs to stop other things from being invincible was redundant. Terraria isn't hard, most people just ignored these mechanics because they aren't fun to interact with and outright obnoxious at points.

Yeah it’s kinda annoying how long it lingers and clutters up for a while

Same, or I just mistake gore for loot, lol
Accidentally turned blood and gore off, now I have cloud flowing in my vein.
CLOUDY HELL!
Lol
So I’m not the only one?
Beginners mistake
You imbecile! You were supposed to drain your veins and organs first! Now your going to explode in a very nonviolent fashion!
Nooooooo!
New response just dropped
Fun fact: that option also disables npc lines that are more "suggestive", so its basically a "kids mode" of some sort.
sad that i cant see all of the npc lines while having stable fps
Like “I don’t give happy endings” from the nurse
Im pretty sure little kids wouldn’t be reading npc dialogue anyways, but thats a neat fact
@@ruff1e well, it is rated for teens. i'm sure 12 year olds can read despite not being in the age range of the game

same here
I like the fact even kids can play this game without having nightmares
Thank you re-logic 👍
The crimson is way scarier in concept than it is in game

The turn off gore is very useful like against very lagging boss to make the game more fluid

Isn’t it the Chinese one
Chinese is censored

you turn off blood and gore because you don't want to be scared. I turn it off because my computer can't handle it. We are not the same.
It is not the same defeating a moving boss and watching all the chunks fly off-screen
I wish the gore off mode would change the sprites of the bosses into their Chinese counterparts. That would be genuinely interesting.
its quite useful in jungle temple to be able to see the pressure plates counting how much killing you do
to be honest i use that option
it just removes the right amount of gore for me

Blood and gore off deaths are like Undertale!
Monsters turning into dust upon death.
Those cloud effects should be confetti

I'm gonna be honest, I totally played this game with blood and gore off until a few years after when I started to get annoyed by the clouds blocking the screen during hoards and stuff
It's the first thing that I changed in the settings...
I'm quite glad this option is there, as I don't particularly seeing gore everywhere. The cancer-like Crimson doesn't bother me that much, though.
i usually turn this off when im building anything at all cause the giblets of little zombie corpses covers up what im trying to place, same with pets
I keep it off because im not a fan of blood and corpses. Nothing wrong with that
I keep it off because gore makes me uncomfortable.
Over the 6 years i’ve played this game, I haven’t even used the turn off blood and gore button even once.
At least the blood moon doesn't transform to a cloud moon or something else
I'm 23 and i always play without blood and gore lol, i don't like gory stuff
"killing bunnies are still cruel, and unfunny" meanwhile him getting the notification for killing 3800 bunnies
I'm also pretty sure that spiders die normally with this option on. It might be patched now, haven't tested it.
Blood and Gore off is the superior Gampleay option.
I turn gore off because it makes me feel less bad about killing bunnies
It might be useful for dreadnaughtilus, its projectiles are much easier to see with that option
TBH I turned off blood and gore because I just didn't really like how it looked
1:00 the zombie dying droppin a beat bruh
i use this because i thought the discombobulated pieces of an enemy would lag the game so i turned that option on
Wait that means dreadnoughtilous is actually way easier with gore off since the most difficult part with his fight is seeing the dark blood projectiles in the dark red background that sometimes even rains blood

Back when I was into Steven universe I used this option because I really loved gems "death" animation being a *poof* and this sorta looks similar
The zombie at the start was going crazy on that beat
Feels like it beats the point to swap out the excess particle effects with a different kind of excess particle effect
Its more focused on optimization then censoring things like blood, if that was the case the option would make the game like chinese terraria, that literally changes even bosses sprites.
Still a pretty good option if you have crappy pc.
I do appreciate the option to play a less gory Terraria, anyway.
As a person who didn't even explore the settings, i can confirm that this is an Adamchrome video
I keep the option off to prevent lag because my computer isn't the greatest. Also while I'm not disturbed by gore I'm also not so attached to body parts flying around that I would miss it being on.
I use it for convenience, because bodies hide items sometimes, so basically clarity and it slightly helps performance
loved that clannad reference at the beginning
I thought you were gonna talk about something else, tbh. I knew about this from nearly day one.
This option was the only reason I was allowed to play the game at a young age. Now im used to it so I still have gore off.

I have it turned off on mobile to reduce lag, the dust disappears faster and I swear there's a lot less particles overall
thank u so much I was playing terraria over haul & calamity there was so much blood I had to clean
Disabling blood and gore also disables a quote from the nurse due to being a sexual reference. I think it was "I don't give happy endings"
there are tons of sexual references in this game lmfao. "master bait", "mourning wood", and I'm sure there are more

what other games are you playing anyways? most other games scare me more than terraria
I don't kill bunnies in terraria. Instead, I cook them for that sweet buff.
i sell them to the arms dealer for a quick buck
Haven't watched it yet so dont notice if i mention something he did but the funny part is that blood becomes air for no reason lol
I'm suprised Blood and Gore also censors things like the Blood Rain Bow and Skeletron's arms, even though I play with it on.
they should add bloodbath mode for this option
When I first played Terraria back in 2020, I had Blood and Gore turned off so the game wouldn’t lag from all the bits. Nowadays though, I keep it on for the full experience.
They should add an option where blood and gore is permanent on your world until you close the game or turn the option back off
I wish they made the enemies tip over before dying like in Minecraft
I used to turn it on when I had a toaster that lagged out a lot in this game. Effectively as an attempt to increase performance.
Blood and gore Off = Bosses are magically dissapearing...
Unironically... I need that option (the no gore) to play the game better...

would be funny if the crimson turned pink when gore is turned off danganronpa style
I used to have it on when I was little cuz I didn’t want my mom to see the blood, but she didn’t even care 😅
That is absolutely hilarious.

So... Blood Moon becomes... Moon?
I use it to reduce lag in events
turning blood and gore off should change boss textures to their chinese counterparts imo
What if we could increase the gore
Well, some people are not into blood and gore, I myself rather have blood off
ITS MORTAL KOMBAT!!
I turned gore off on my switch because i dont know if the game can even handle it lol
The only reason i turned blood and gore off because i play on an absolute potato
I actually use this option.... lol
To me this just helps with lag.
i did this when i was a kid to convince my parents to let me play the game.
Convenient for lower end devices just to make things run a bit smoother
