Idea for this. Because of the glitch. Pico is blind and shoots at whatever he hears. There may be larger notes that when hit are extra loud and it causes Pico to shoot at BF causing him to loose a large amount of health so you need to not hit the notes BUT you still lose health for missing them so either way you still loose health but a lot less when you miss the notes
so Pico would also have to have enhanced smell and taste as well to live in a broken, corrupted world like this one, his hearing is his strongest ally though
With the lose of one sense the others become stronger
So this make sense in most ways
Idea for mechanics: Certain notes trigger loud sounds, which will bring a dodge mechanic. He can hear the sound of a note being missed, which will cause him to take 50% of your current health.
So basically, if you want to beat the song, you need to be good at the game.
But he has eyes
love how you did pico's voice in this, pico can spit when the composer knows what their doing and clearly you knew what you were doing

After a long and hard battle, Boyfriend stood there desperately grasping at any strand of air he could pull into his lungs. The black sludge that distorted the reality of which it violated started to seep from his opponent's eyes and mouth, and his smile became wider by the second-stretching far enough to where his face nearly split in half.
His opponent, however, did not feel the same level of fatigue. Words came without breath, rhythm without meaning, rhyme without beat; it allowed him to speak words within words-as if he had six mouthes.
Boyfriend had no time to back down, he had to come back with a rythem of his own, but just as he managed to gain some footing bullets whizzed past his head as his old friend was firing a barrage of bullets only outpaced by the bars he was spitting. Dodging back, stumbling, Boyfriend held each note for dear life as the sea of impossible black kept itself at bay, unable to approach. Even so, the barrage of bullets that came from each hand was becoming too much for the blue-haired victim. A breath had to be taken, a beat had to be missed, and just when Boyfriend held his tongue he noticed that the distortion on his friend covered his eyes, and the shots became wilder and wilder in his silence.
He couldn't be seen.
He could only be heard.
Sadly, he didn't have enough time to take in this information as the bubbling and deformed ink sloshed its way around his feet, forcing another note to leave his lips-choice was no longer a tool in his kit, for it was the only way to keep the impossible at bay. At that moment, he could physically feel the mistake as he watched the ears of his opponent perk for the briefest of moments as every wild shot began to make its mark once again. Grazing his shirt, skinning his leg, cutting across his head, each bullet was just narrowly avoided until Boyfriend finally made a fatal mistake and fell on his back heel. Before he could even wince, his eyes stared down the barrel of a gun.
And with Boyfriend's last note, every muscle in his body tensed as he closed his eyes-preparing himself for the worst.
At that moment, all he could hear was the sweat falling from his own head, until another noise joined the cacophony of fear-shaking metal. Within the grasp of his opponent, the gun which pointed at his head shook violently; not out of some strange distortion but out of hesitation. Just as the finger pulled back on the trigger, every new mouth his opponent had sprouted had closed as words began to leave from their proper place.
"N̸o̷ ̷P̸i̴c̴o̷.̴ ̴N̷o̸ ̸P̵ico. No."
Iron met cloth as the gun in his opponent's offhand quickly slammed into the arm which threatened to execute the blue-haired rapper, and from it came a barrage of bullets so heavy and great that his arm went flying off. Desperate, Boyfriend quickly rose to his feet as he hit an almost unheard-of state of flow. His words, his rhythm, his style hit so heavy that it bordered on impossible, and it hit so heavily that the corruption that engulfed his friend began to recede. However, it would not be enough, as Boyfriend could see a different type of smile before the corruption swallowed his friend whole once again; a genuine smile, one he had seen before. Words needn't come from his friend, his message came out loud and clear.
_Do what you got to do, man._
Just as quick as it came, the present was defiled as the smile spread impossibly once again, almost mockingly this time. With renewed vigor, Boyfriend picked up the gun from the severed arm, and with a single flick of his wrist the sludge which resided on it slid off as he pointed it directly forward-pointing it right at his friend's head. The two stood there in a standoff-one gun pointed right at the other-until an all-out barrage came from both sides.
The dark alley lit up like fireworks from the muzzle flashes, bullets bouncing and ricocheting off the walls and floor, pinballing and whizzing around the two of them. Whistles of steel in the air scraped against each of their ears, and noises became so loud that his opponent couldn't focus on the blue-haired boy's location, and in a single moment of weakness, a bullet made its mark right between his eyes.
It was not enough.
A stumble, a fumble, each bullet that made its mark only seemed to made it bleed more black until it hit a point where there was less flesh than dark matter which spilled from the orange-haired gunslinger. However, with each successful hit, Boyfriend stepped closer and closer forcing the mass to recede back further and further out of the alley, leaving the corpse behind. Boyfriend rushed back and held his friend, who could only barely hold open one eye. With a weak thumbs up from his only arm, he spoke out his final words out of blood-filled sputters.
"Go Pico. Go Pico. Go."

Probably how pico died:
Sacrificed himself trying to fight against the corruption, buying enough time for bf and gf to escape. Gave one of his trusty guns to bf, probably giving him a little kiss (since bf x pico is canon, stfu) to show that he still cares for him after all this time.

OK LOOK i know im supposed to be all confident and fear nothing but THAT THING SCARES ME
Well after reading most of the comments I thought up a special health bar. Instead of reaching full health, there would be a target at the left end of the bar which upon reaching you'd get shot causing instant death. The right end however would be a glitchy pool of black ink, meaning if you don't fight back enough then you'd be consumed by the pool on the ground. I feel like that'd lead to a unique battle where winning doesn't mean hitting every note!
