Growing up in Seattle in the 70's, our family would visit Victoria every summer to tour the museums and gardens. Craigdarroch was one of the highlights of our trip--it was like stepping back into time. The nearby Government House in Rockland was also impressive. We'd finish off the afternoon with Tea at the Empress (it was $3.50 CDN back then and the tea set was silver plated!).

So beautiful! To think how they did feel and wer of course rich for that day, and to have indoor bathroom and they had to feel so blessed, or should have anyway! They lived quite a life!
Takes much time and work though to restore and bring a home as this estate, back to the original look, (and probably a little better even) in this large task they had, they did a great job.

I noticed an ethereal being was left out. When I visited the Castle I had a most lovely sight greet me while on the 3rd floor, the window seat that looks out the right side view of the house was where I saw the lady ghost. She turned and looked up at me for a split second it felt like I made a connection 😊
The lady dressed in the white flowing dress that stands out on the lawns and looks up at the house…..

why do people call large estate homes castles - they are NOT castles

A lot of the great stately homes in Britain are called "castles" but they are clearly merely residential and that is because they were castles originally in the Medieval era usually but later got converted to residential use - prime examples are Castle Howard in Yorkshire (very beautiful!) and Warwick Castle - same reason why some stately homes are called "Abbeys" because they were once medieval monastic establishments or abbeys and king Henry VIII had all the church properties confiscated and gave many to his loyal supporters who converted them into palaces etc but kept the name "Abbey" as in Bath Abbey.Jane Austen's fictional "Northanger Abbey" is another case in point.

If you are going to do a tour of a special building like this castle you need to slow the pace of the camera shots down. Slow panning, focus on specific bits of interest, not whizz the camera round like you have. Your'e not a pretend fly trying to zoom about in order to escape a fly swat! At your speed, your viewer becomes dizzy very quickly. I stopped after just 1:32 and I'm afraid it was me who gave you the thumbs down. Very poor photography of what could have been a wonderful experience. Shame.

Thank you very much for the feedback. It was very helpful to fix my flows and grow. I do my best to eliminate these mistakes in my future videos. Thank you.
