VINwiki: Tell us a car story... Ed's 25th car story: I knew Lamborghini had a reliability issue before they did. Me: I got buy-one-get-one-free wiper blades.
Typical VW group, not issuing a recall on their faulty parts.. such a scummy thing to do, turns customers right off it! Where is the trust from that point? BMW are the worst for it ¬.¬
Every Ed Bolian video I see makes me a bigger fan of the guy. Intelligent, articulate and definitely the guy you'd want in your corner. Love the stories, guys 👌🏼
In 1992 I was a tech at the Ferrari dealer in Seattle. There were problems with the Ferrari 348TS's leaking in the rain, or in a car wash. Of course, rain is not a problem in Seattle, right? I was the lone tech sent to the training center in L.A. to learn how to fix this problem, which ended up actually being an upgrade on the entire car, because of all the other flaws in the 348 model. After the recall went out, these cars just piled into the dealership all at once, and my boss refused to pay overtime, so I went from working on project cars to an all-out 8-5 thrash. I had the cars of the 3 of the richest guys in the world lined up all overdue for this recall,(17 flat rate hours) with 'their people' calling at all hours of the day asking to pickup the cars. No pressure. Eventually I did 18 of these recalls. I am so glad that is behind me!
That's typical for a boss that doesn't "grasp the concept" of what product he's representing, and WHO is buying it. Applies to a lot of businesses. I had a "boutique" moving company and a LOCK on some high end repeat clients (who all knew each other). You bring you best soldiers, you make sure the have the best equipment and conditions, and you pay them accordingly. A lot of bosses? Hard for them to wrap their head around.
I don't know why but all these stories of Ed and selling cars makes me want to work with him. He sounds like the type of guy who'd make any situations extremely entertaining!
All these stories could be made up and how would we ever know? Like Rob's stories, some of them are pretty far fetched. They are still entertaining to watch but yeah who knows how true they are. Since almost every youtube video is faked for views it is hard to trust anyone.
yeah when a 500 dollar car break after 500 miles its expected i mean its cheaper then a good phone for god sake but a 400-500k car that a no no bastard like them have massive compensation and egos to break to have his fresh new supercar breakdown in front of his friends its a huge no no
@@joeyscleaninglady2877 That's easy to say but, Ed wont because he was just the salesman looking to make his sales, the manager/gm wont because they are a dealership with a 6 digit cars that need to be sold, and Lamborghini wont because they dont want to fix every car if its not life threatening, or affecting most vehicles. It's a bad situation for everyone, especially the customer. The only people that didnt do their job properly was the engineers and bean counters budgeting the build cost.
When you're trying to work, but a Vinwiki video with Ed Bolian appears in your inbox. I wonder if Mr. Bolian has a podcast. Could listen to stories all day XD
iLupi I just figured out how to officially break the Internet: Have a long video of him and Mike Rowe swapping stories. Doesn’t matter what they’re saying.
I don't know and I'm just asking but isn't lying to the insurance company about the car being his and using his insurance to tow it some kind of fraud? I'm not being shitty and saying he committed fraud! I'm just genuinely curious.
Maybe there is a loophole because it was the dealerships car and one point and he works for them. I don't really know and was kinda thinking the same thing.
pretty sure it was, and if he hadnt done that he would have been in the exact same position the lady he was talking down to was in. pretty shitty honestly.
@@HerecomestheCalavera That depends on if he was using his personal insurance (which I doubt) or the insurance of Lamborghini Atlanta (much more likely). If it's the latter, he's not defrauding them because since the car is (at that point) going to be be going in for service, it is temporarily property of Lamborghini Atlanta.
Funny how it's unacceptable that somebody couldn't get a tow truck to the car. Yet the dealership let this guy leave with a car they knew in all likelihood was going to fail.
This channel has been very interesting for many reasons. As I listen to the stories one thing is abundantly clear. Many of the super car brands are super high maintenance and super unpredictable. From simple stuff (battery staying charged ) to quick burn clutches it is clear to me that a non 1% income earner should never attempt to own a car like this even if it is a great deal on a used model. My goodness I did not realize that it was that bad. I am grateful for real world information. I was seriously looking at a Lotus Evora 400. Not anymore. Not a super car but not cheap either. Love the stories even when they make my gut tight as I imagine myself in these situations.
I work in shipping and logistics. For your top clients it is a 24 hour never say never job. I love the “I’m going to make sure it happens”. Get it done dude!
Not to me, customer service is above and beyond. I'd expect the dealership to replace the possibly defective part before my half million dollar car is delivered to me. Btw, after this video, I wouldn't buy a car from him
I randomly discovered these stories after watching like two car videos and they're just so interesting I can't stop watching idk what it is they're just really enjoyable lol
Ed seems like the kind of guy that would have your back in a bar fight and then afterwards try to figure out how it happened and how to avoid the situation next time lol. Love your vids!
Austin's Garage and as a bonus you will never have to deal with adoring crowds mobbing you wherever you are. In fact no one will even know you're there; unless they happen to know the model, at which point the only reaction you will see will consist of finger pointing and laughter
Love your videos Edd. I’m a Chevy & Cadillac Sales man, my dream is to work for Lamborghini and with your stories It makes me just want to work harder at it.
This reminded me of the time my car's clutch started slipping, after VERY few miles. Took it to the dealership, they gave me some story about how it was an oil seal fail and fixed it free of charge. Three thousand miles later, the same thing happened. Both times, the guys there made it seem as if it was a one-off, only my car was affected. The third time it happened (and I'm getting suspicious now) I was in the office discussing this failure when a guy came in from the shop floor and, on overhearing the conversation, said "Oh we've had a lot of this model with the same fault." You could have cut the air with a knife.
Sounds Familiar. I had something similar happen when a rabbit decided to eat to eat the wiring harnesses of my brand new car. The salesman never heard of anything like this happing and seamed very puzzled. When I googled “wiring harness, cars and animals eating” I came up with so many articles and it turns out it an industry problem because the moved to soy based insulation instead of the “evil” oil based insulation. Needless to say when I asked the mechanic about it, he told me they usually get two or three in a month that need new wire harnesses. Turns out they already had a solution to fix the problem and had I know about the problem I would have had them fix it. So the moral of Ed’s story never trust a car salesmen. I guess we already knew that but it needs repeating.
Yea he should of offered 1000 over what ever the tow bill was that would go to the tow driver. Because if its christmas eve, im not working unless theres some extra in it for me. money talks louder than words.
Throckmorton: *"ED!!! YOU HAVE MADE ME THE LAUGHING STOCK OF BUSHWOOD!!! I shall not give you the Christmas Present, I bought you. I shall give it to the Colored Boy who Manicures our Lawn.* Ed: *NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!..........................(sobbing)*

The level of professionalism on this man is high. In total honesty I admire this man. My manager and assistant manager always get mad when I go all the way for a customer.
Honesty by selling a car to people knowing it has a 75 percent chance of breaking within 300-500 miles... come on man stop acting like a fan... dude has good content but he was dead wrong in this instance
Have you thought of having a VINWiki booth at DuPont Registry's next cars and coffee? It would be a great place to get the word out about VINwiki and also would be a great time to showcase some of your collection and get face to face with some of your supporters. Mr. DuPont is a great guy and I'm sure he'd be happy you came out.
been waiting for another Ed story which was so worth it,. If the story sucked, it would still be great just the way he says it,. Also besides the lambo's break downs, Ed had such a cool job, touring Rome in a new Aventadore!
Fascinating stories, having been on car sales myself here in UK with plenty of new car quality issues with British Leyland in the 1970s. Great story telling Ed.
My car story: "My Fiat Stilo broke down 2 times in a year because of coil stress". Ed Bolian, car story #20: "I knew of a fault lamborghini put in their cars before they themselves did". God damn I love this channel, but I feel like a poor consumer...

I’d ordered a new Cayenne Turbo S that couldn’t be delivered on time because not only had it failed to pass State inspection but had myriad check engine messages - everything from the air suspension to modules controlling the transmission and differentials. I sat inside of it momentarily to thank it for revealing itself so early in the relationship - then promptly cancelled the sale and bought a new GMC Denali XL; which served us faithfully; including leaving on a 3mo vacation throughout Canada and Alaska as well as every National Park we could work in; departing with only 1,700mi and returning with 21,000. We were homeschooling our daughters and teaching them geography at the time; allowing them to weigh in and help plot our path and destinations. It was an amazing experience for all of us.
Yes because a car just being a Lamborghini sitting in front of a uplevel neighborhood entrance is more important than a car probably wrecked on a major highway that possibly had hazardous chemicals leaking on christmas to tow.

Ed's 25th car story: I knew Lamborghini had a reliability issue before they did.

This was a crazy time. Lamborghini build quality has been exceptional for the past 10 years but this hiccup made my life hard for a little while.

I know how you feel, My collection of ultra rare Chrysler sebrings broke once.
The Mojo FloJo Chronicles
You owned more than one?
Chrysler sebring?
Rare?
Collection?
One of these is not like the other, one of these does not belong.
That made me laugh
Jajajajajajjaa
GhostlyGamerYT yeah having a collection of them is crazy

That sounds like a difficult position to be in. I am selling you this car and it is probably going to break really soon. Have fun!

Congrats on getting that check mark VINwiki!
Gus Kipper what does the check mark mean?
Octavio Espinoza it verifies that's it is the real channel and not a fake
Congrats to Ed on sounding exactly like Dave Chappelle imitating a White Guy.

Another great Ed story. Thanks Ed for bringing us these stories and creating VINwiki in the first place.
HEY! I see my Murci wheel in there. :-) Nice one! :-) Behind his chair for those who don't spot it.
It fits in well, don't you think?
Being for a Murci, I figured you'd have it up top. :-) I'll want to have it up top if/when I can tell more. We'll see the reaction we get in the comments on how mine go I guess. ;-)
Great dedication to your business, thanks so proud to say we have people in the world today like you !
Vinwiki in the morning is the best way to start my day.
Thats nice healthy take on the subject, I know many dealers whose take is not this pragmatic and willing.
I love this guys voice 😂😂
Ed is the best in this video series, more of ed!!!

I have learned so much from ed, please keep the videos up!!
Next week I will spend some time explaining how exotic car financing works.
Great Customer SVC Ed🤓
Glad to s👀 You made it happen for the customer ...
Love your stories, keep them coming!
My dad and I were about to pull the trigger on a '13 Aventador, and I showed him this video and now we backed out. Thanks for saving us a headache ED!
I am generally not envious of others, but goddam Ed! You've had some adventures!
Yassss, ed's stories are so cool and interesting
Also love all the others too
I get excited when I see Vinwiki when they release a video
I know one day it won't be a everyday thing
So I won't be very sad, still happy to just watch the videos
That's why I subscribed
Much love, thank you

We will try and add more diversity.
This guys voice is so soothing n relaxing...been binge watching these videos today 😂😂
I had a boss that is just like Ed, as calm as he looks like you REALLY don't want to answer "I can't do it" to them...
“They were breaking”
What a powerful line
If I ever get to be able to afford to buy a Lamborghini I’ll only buy one from Ed. He really knows his stuff
Ed.
The Man, the Myth, the Legend...
Great video, interesting guy with good stories! Keep it up.
Is it just me or does Ed always have the best stories?
I don’t even particularly like cars, but this guy has some great stories.
Can Ed do ALL the stories?
The way you tell the story is just so damn good keep up the good work sir
Smart guy and tells a great story I like the Ed stories the best

Ed should do audio books
chalz108 his voice is so smooth lol
Ed's story's are always so good
Yes because a car just being a Lamborghini sitting in front of a uplevel neighborhood entrance is more important than a car probably wrecked on a major highway that possibly had hazardous chemicals leaking on christmas to tow.
Stephen Schafer it's about business, not morality.
