These are great!! Ronny, are y’all able to show the rest of the ejection clips after they show their answers? I think we’re missing out on the payoff of the actual video answer!
“These are all cut and dry, either a hit or an error” - literally talking about a play which is an infield hit and then arenado advances to second on an error
First Round: Both (Single, E5) Second Round: E8 Third Round: Hit Fourth Round: 40 Games Fifth Round: 10 Games Sixth Round: 5 Games Seventh Round: Eject Eighth Round: Eject Ninth Round: Eject
Nailed it, for precisely the reason Jack stated: Arenado beats out the throw no matter what. The initial "bobble" is already beyond ordinary effort for the fielder given how hard the ball was hit, and how far the fielder had to move away from his base - particularly to his right. So good call by the OS, good call by Jack, good call by you. 😊
In the last ejection video, the umpire pointing after the hitter slammed the bat down was calling an equipment violation. That’s essentially a warning (possibly a fine?), but not an automatic ejection. If the player then slammed something else down (say, he slammed his helmet after the umpire pointed at his bat), then that’s an automatic ejection. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t show the entirety of the play/ejection, because it would have been more obvious. The bat slam didn’t get him ejected, but he almost certainly did or said something afterwards that got him tossed.
"The No. 1 rule of scoring, do what's obvious." Unfortunately, that's very often not the case (unless ordinary effort itself is obvious). The number of times a very makeable play is ruled a hit is staggering to people who've never scored a game. In the case of Betts' fly ball to right (3:16), the outfielder misjudged the fly and went too far back. Then he had to dive forward in an effort to correct for a bad route. Common sense suggests this should be a caught ball - i.e. an error seems "obvious.". However, the OBR ("The Official Scorer shall not score mental mistakes or misjudgments as errors") and the MLB case book ("Taking a bad route is a mental mistake and not an error") both spell out this scenario. Thus, once that OF has to dive for the ball, it's no longer ordinary effort, and thus, the batted ball becomes a hit. This is why fans, players and especially coaches/managers are often shocked to see how rarely we charge errors. Based on the rules as interpreted right now, they are surprisingly hard to give.
Oh boy, depending on how new to baseball you are, that's kind of a tricky one to answer because there are a lot of scenarios, but it all boils down a player's statistics (or as I like to call it, Baseball Math). Let's say there's a player on third base when a batter steps up to bat. He hits the ball, makes it to first, and the batter on third scores a run, BUT those two things only happened because a player on the fielding team screwed up the play and it was ruled an error. That means the batter wouldn't be awarded an RBI (run batted in) or a hit. A proper hit would have improved his batting average (and other stats, but I don't want to get too far into the weeds). They're basically saying that the batting team only got the one run and a man on first base because the fielding team fkd up. I hope that makes sense. That's the quickest, easiest example I could think of.
@@manuell4355The umpire does not score the play. There is an official scorer who is judging each play. The umpire only calls the plays based on what happened. The official scorer decides if it “should have” happened, essentially. Hits/errors come down to statistics, but do not affect the outcome of the play or of the game. The umpire calls plays that determine the outcome of the play/game. So, this video is unrealistic (which they state at the very beginning), because the umpires would not be making hit/error determinations.
Petition to make them ump a little league game
Fr
Why would you do that to those poor kids?
Facts
Here
When does little league start?
zo getting 11 seconds killed me that was great
“I have a phd”
ADHD confirmed
We got umps
We got shoulder pads
We got great RUclips videos
We got great wiffle ball video
We got zo being bad at umping
Do a segment where they hear a post-game interview question and have to say whether it got an angry or calm response for MLB manager video
As someone who is scared of silence I called Zo's time right when I saw the segment lol. No way his attention span was letting him get close
Next week we find out Jack's been gambling on the results of UmpQuiz.
You guys should ump a little league game
We need to see another weather segment
That first one was a hit and an error. So Zo wasn't wrong, especially after you said "its hard cut, hit or error"
Thank you. I was gonna lose my mind if no one else said it.
They need to do a segment where they look at umpire cams and judge balls and strikes
I think that was the 1st episode
Zo should have gotten 15 points off for that hahaha :)
this is my fav umps yet I was cackling at Zo's one liners
I love this series
Best channel ever
Uppies Cabrera killed me, underrated joke.
Thank you for existing.
3:28 "Not JUAN of SOTO's finest moments" hahahahahha
I cracked up in the first 30 seconds. That mask is ridiculous LOL

Let’s umpire a game sometime!
👀
“These are all cut and dry, either a hit or an error” - literally talking about a play which is an infield hit and then arenado advances to second on an error
I love hit or error bc umpires don’t decide that
Exactly... that's the OS job.
4:40. Classic baseball joke from jack 😂
that a single with an error for him getting to second on the first play, surprised zo was so confused on that
Keep making these. Maybe football versions too
First Round: Both (Single, E5)
Second Round: E8
Third Round: Hit
Fourth Round: 40 Games
Fifth Round: 10 Games
Sixth Round: 5 Games
Seventh Round: Eject
Eighth Round: Eject
Ninth Round: Eject
I would've ruled the first a single with an error on the throw. Easy solution 😂

Blip Tonkrel showing why he's the best worst coach out there
Love the series ❤
Good lord zo is the goat
“This is circa old”
Dude the Big League Chew hat goes hard
Randomly also had 12 games in my head for Odor
losing the ball in the lights isn't an error lol that soto play is a hit
Favorite series
I think you gotta cut the ejection vids a little shorter. If an ump starts pointing at you like that, you are likely getting tossed.

Yall should get pink ump shirts
new hivemind baseball video dropped
Whenever mom says we have food at home this is the food at home
12:37 I don’t think Zo could have beaten Jack WITHOUT THE COVER
Would be nice if we could see the actual ejection/non ejection after they give their answers in that segment!
4:56 Mariners minor league system has a man named Milkar Perez
Do a check swing segment!
The ump traveled before taking off his mask. Moved both of his feet
i also guessed 12 games on the door suspension lmao
25 seconds ago is crazy
First play should be ruled both hit and error. Infield single with the throwing error allowing the runner to take second base
We got w umps ngl
Best umps ever!
A round of eject or warning plz
Pardon me for not knowing all of my We Got Ice lore, but is Jack a former player?
Yeah he was a pitcher in the minor leagues for the Swamp Donkeys
@@shabbajoey Cool, thanks
did he get the cycle
Umps are not in charge of hit vs error.
Get me on this jomboy segment I would run this game
Zo is not much competition
The 1st 1 was a hit and error
I got 16.8 on my 15 second test… I need a bit of work

Did Jack get stung by a bee on his lips???
I LOVE WGI
5:35 i got it right!
Can someone explain how the Soto play was a hit? He muffled the ball when it could have easily been caught.
Swamp donkey radio coming back any time soon?
I'm pretty sure it just got moved to a different channel.
Singal error1 on the hit or error.
Let me challenge you to a game of blitzball Jack or zo.
Guys I'm new to baseball why does an ump have to call hit or error like how does that effect the play?

I tried the 15 second thing first and my first try I got 10.73, then 19.3 and then finally 14.3
3:19 hows this a hit?
zo is 100% and NPC
Hi
nah that first one was an error i'm sorry

If a player shows emotion, chances are they're getting ejected. No emotion! No fun! Not in MLB!!! 😡🤬 😆
