Yes but the internet began as a US military communications system designed to function after a nuclear war, similar in concept to the UK's national electricity grid. That said, UK military bases and government bunkers were already connected via underground cables for the same reason during WW2 and the international comms cables were installed by the UK for trade and imperial reasons, so can they really claim to be first?
As much as we like to dunk on the states, I do think we have to give the internet to them, yes some other nationalities were involved in the tech (shout out to welshman Donald Davies) but the vast majority of the work was them. Hi Neal, he said U.S. cops kill more people in a month than the U.K. do in 20 years. What he should've said is double the number in a month than the U.K. did in the entire 20th century. 110 vs 52.
@@ummbop1296 I don't see how you could break it down to compare individual states, the only way I can see to compare is, the U.S. population is roughly 6x the size of the U.K. which drops the figure down to 18 per month, still a little higher than 52 per 100 years.
@@tonycrayford3893 So, do we use the figures for Oregon, Texas or California? The size of the landmass or population difference is inconsequential, the real difference is in the training and attitude of the two police forces.
I wonder how many more countries had flaes which incorporate the Union Jack. For instance, before we had the red-and-white maple leaf flag here in Canada, we had the Red Ensign flag... which had the Union Jack in the top left corner.
The US' full use of the Imperial system is better than our mixed-up halfway house 😂I know both systems and always give both but I wish we'd just go the whole way to Metric. Well... if we're talking an ideal world I'd want a base 12 number system and change Metric to match that but it would be chaos for a good while 👍 Amazing video as always ❤
The difference in sports between the UK and the US is the number of international matches. How many US sports are matches played between different countries at a professional level? American Football? Baseball? Basketball? Ice hockey? UK sports played by several different countries at a professional level. Football (I refuse to call it soccer) most of the world, Cricket, at least 8 countries play international matches. Rugby Union, at least 12 nations.
You don'y have the metric system, you use the Imperial system (which fair enough did come from the UK). The UK can be said to use a hybrid system which is mostly metric but with some old imperial units (such as miles). Oh! And sorry but Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee an English computer scientist invented the World Wide Web 🙂
Internet. In the UK, I currently get speeds of just under 1000Mbs for which I'm paying about £31 per month. I'm guaranteed a minimum of 900Mbs, but have never been any where near to being that low. The internet, as we know it now or the World Wide Webb, was invented by the British Tim Berners-Lee. My wife's family in California can't get anywhere near this but they're paying an astronomical amount for the service as they also do for their cell phone plans. Why? There's more competition because there are far more service providers.
Check out some videos about british mega hovercrafts and the hovercraft industry, if you didnt know giant hovercrafts became the fastest way to travel from england to france for a while and the british built hovercraft so huge you could load cars and hundreds of people on them. yea the internet was technically a united states military technology. The world wide web and basically how the modern internet functions was technically invented by tim berners lee from the uk. In general military tech and other stuff today is so closely worked on by british and americans collaberatively, we pretty much work together on most things.
Documentaries? 50/50 but roundabouts those are very annoying in the US or maybe it's just me since we don't have them everywhere and they are much smaller idk?
we are never going to fully embrace the metric system, because its a culture thing, we are happy to get petrol in litres, buy good by the kilo, because we look at price and no weight, Bu there is no way in hell, we going to order beer by the litre or 4 litres of milk, its alwayd going to be the pint, can you imagine a btit, saying to the wife, popping the the pub for swif half litre, never going to happen,
I've always said that the US has severely underestimated the UK there's a reason its also called Great Britain and the USA "Greatest country in the world"? I don't think so
@defizr I know but you know what I'm indicating they don't call the USA 'Great America' do they besides the USA wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for the British colonists

I used to agree with 25 but now I've realised I'd prefer the US way because there's no way we'd have a 20% VAT if it was on our mind every time we bought something. Highest in the US is around 10%.
I recently had a check-up, because of my response to one question I was asked my doctor sent me for a scan, that led to a follow-up with a specialist, I then got the all clear. The timeline from start to finish was three weeks. Don’t believe everything you read. The NHS may have suffered under the Conservatives, but it still provides excellent care.
