As a person who always had dogs, cats especially taught me to respect boundaries and to ask for consent. Yes, I “ask" my cats if I can pet them. Since then they have been so much more loving than ever

@@joh632 you can hold your hand out and let them sniff you, and if they stay relaxed you can go for the pets :)
@@joh632 I always make a little snout from my hands (which sounds weird) but I keep it very relaxed my middle finger most to the front and my ring finger and pointing finger relaxed behind it (see Jackson Galaxy for examples), this way it looks familiar to the cat. When he or she allows you he or she will stay or even put his or her cheek against your hand. Then you can slowely pet him or her against the cheek, and eventually you might be able to go further back. I know my cat well and he'll just walk away when he's done with me so I just pet his cheeks and then furter to his schoulders and just above the butt (he loves that). But when you don't know a cat the method above is very calm and inviting and the cat has a chance to say no and t come back when that no turns into a yes ^^

My cat taught me what unconditional love is. He truly was my soul mate and best friend. I miss him and cry thinking of him atleast 100x a day.

I'm so sorry my little bug Pumpkin is 13 still jumping high on her cat tree cold here in Canada! Very lovely cat.
We're smugglers she sleeps beside me every nite.though she had arthritis it's calmed by supplements recc by vet.

Loyalty is so right. My cat never leaves my side. I cook, she's in the kitchen. I mop the floor, she's on the table near by looking at me doing my thing. I'm working on my computer, she's sleeping underneath the table. I feel the loyalty of the cat is so special and precious. Nice video you have there! Also, I rmb seeing your first video of adopting Uni and now she's so big! How fast time flies!

This video is so wholesome!! 🥺 I’ve gone from being a non pet person to adopting 6 kittens when a stray cat decided to give birth in our garage. I’d say I relate to everything in this video. They taught me so much about a part of myself I didn’t know existed. Now I can’t imagine not having them in my life

they seriously sleep all day and then get the zoomies at like 2 am before passing out again :') also uni washing dishes with you 😭💗 i'd love to switch Sushi over to a more raw/unprocessed diet but she's sooo picky with her food, she literally didn't eat for 5 straight days once because she got bored of her kibble flavor 😩

god she is utterly adorable T^T her face painting is so unique and cute. Extremely fluffy tri-color kitties are the best. We got one ourselves!
I really learned from my cat (whom I adopted just 5/6 months ago) to take my time, my rest, my comfort and to keep my house clean. Not to let food (packages) sit on the counter (because he'll steal it). I give him lots of kisses and 'I love you's' through the day. And he turned out to be one of my best friends!
I had moved to a new city for my new job 2 years back and obviously my cats also went with me….d job opportunity was great and professionally I was doing amazing but I didn’t have any friends or family there and due to covid lockdown, I was completely isolated…culturally d new place was very different and I just couldn’t fit in… and also had developed multiple health problems….I was really going into a black hole of depression… during that phase my babies never left my side whenever I was home…they were such solace to my aching soul…I’m very independent by nature and wouldn’t confide in anyone with my problems…my babies somehow understood… they r such magical creatures… I always loved them but after this experience they became my support system and Im forever grateful for having them in my life… I truly believe everyone needs to experience love of a cat once in their lifetime… it’s very different but so so warm and special…

As someone who currrently owns a cat, You must teach them a routine DONT randomly put ur cat on ur bed in the middle of the year do it everyday if they jump off put them back on they will notice this is routine oriented

My cat disappears for awhile every day, but spends a lot of time near me afterward. I always enjoy when she reaches a front paw out to touch me, usually with a gentle flexing of her claws. She's a senior cat, so she doesn't frisk about much any more. Most nights, she presses snugly against my left side.
I feel like this video was a gift sent to make me feel better today since I had a pretty exhausting one🥺💓 Cats are the best thing ever💞
This is so sweet, you’re love for your cat shows and its very beautiful. I recently lost my cat, who was my best friend of 18-ish years. He was a stray who we fed and just decided to come inside one day and made himself at home. I learnt more from him than i have from anyone, ever. I think, if we’re lucky, we get to meet and build a bond with our soul-cat and that relationship along with all of the lessons change us forever and shape us for the better.

OMG! I couldn't recognise it was Uni! I saw one her videos when she was a kitten, she's all grown up! I don't know how or why I really feel this emotional connection seeing her again after all this time! She's a darling!

i lost my kitty to kidney disease almost a month ago.. it's been really hard but it's nice to remember the things she taught me in the 16 years i got to spend with her. it makes me happy to see how much love your kitty is being given ❤ (btw my girl was a tortie just like yours!!)
Aww I saw the video when you first got her, she's grown so beautifully. Great reminder that we can see the difference in their health when we give them better quality food, and that it applies to us as well! Also that it's very healthy for our cats/pets to be active and should be encouraged!

Such a touching and heartwarming video I absolutely agree with!! Uni is such a beauty, and I relate to so many things in this video, especially the point about physical love. About the thankfulness point, I don’t know if your Uni does this, but my baby Fanny (not in my profile pic btw lol) gives me little headbutts every time I feed her, or I gift her something in general. Cats really do show their loyalty and thankfulness. Some people just can’t see it 🥰.
Native finn here! A little correction: "uni" means "sleep" or "dream" in finnish, "to rest" would be "levätä"

The lesson 14 (Warm welcome) really touched me, as your cat's attitude really reminds me of my own, who passed away in December 2020. Every day he'd be welcoming me at the door when I came back from work or other things, even if I was out for just 20 minutes going to the grocery store or the convenience store, he'd be there, purring and meowing, waiting for me to pick him up and cuddle with him. Some days I'd come home and he'd be napping, and hearing the door he'd get up from under the covers and come welcome me anyway! I miss him every day since he passed, cherish every moment you get to spend with your 4 legged friends ❤

This is the cutest thing ever. I can just agree. My cat has thought me so many things. I personally like the “appreciate nature more” part the most. Can I ask you how you feel about owning only one cat? Do you feel guilty in any way? And How long are you both gone in the day most of the time? Cause I have only one cat in the same age as your cat and I feel guilty all the time and try to not stay away for longer than 6 hours which is really hard
Hey! I feel with you, I also have only one cat, and I also feel teeeeerrible whenever she’s home alone. I also feel bad especially since I’ve read that you shouldn’t keep a cat alone. My cat for example is home alone for like 5 hours a day, which isn’t really much since she sleeps all the time, but I still feel bad.
Cats aren't pack or here animals so they naturally spend most of their time alone when they are wild so I don't see the problem.
@@msjujuz266 they are actually incredibly social. They need another cat to socialize with, cuddle with and be groomed by. Of course there's some cats who despise other cats and can't be kept with others but normally cats need cat company. Cats clean the inside of each others ears, cuddle for hours together, give each other company when you're gone etc. You should NEVER keep a cat alone unless it's an uncastrated male, or a cat that doesn't get along with other cats.
They might not be pack animals like dogs are, but cats still feel emotions and bonds with each other, and have a need for social interaction - they see humans as just other cats, and have been proven to seek out our attention and love and get depressed when they don't have much interaction with other cats /and or humans.'
I work at an animal shelter and when someone adopts they're only allowed to adopt in 2 specifically because cats NEED company. Only outdoor cats or cats with issues regarding other cats are allowed to be adopted on their own - outdoor cats also only because they go out and socialize outside with other cats.
And Wildcats don't have much choice. It's either staying alone, or sharing your food/losing your food, being in danger from attacks, your territory being invaded etc. If you mean stray cats though, they WILL seek out other stray cats and form little groups with each other. Most of their time is spent alone but that makes the time they spend with others SOOO much more important!

I've been a cat person since i can remember. I was born into a family of cat people, grew up with kittens, learned to respect them, became an adult next to them, went through many losses, learned to love again, and learned to learn more and more each day. Even today when i thought i knew it all and heard it all when it comes to cats, your video taught me that i need to stretch with my cat and appreciate life more. Towards the end of the video, i got so emotional that my eyes became teary. Your words sound so caring, so respectful and so loving. Thank you for this amazing content and for being an AMAZING cat mom.

Everything you said about your cat so lovingly I completely understand because mine make me feel the same. I see cats as companions in my life but with their own autonomy. We share the same space, enjoy each other's company but still use our time to fulfill our own needs. The care and thoughtfulness I give my cats is always reciprocated but in their own ways. Them standing up and coming to sleep in my bed when I call them, even though it's summer and the cool floor is preferred. Them following me from room to room to keep on napping where I am even though they could've stayed where they were to do that. Their need to press themselves into me on the vets table in fear because they trust me to give them safety even though they screamed at me on the way there. Most of the times I feel numb because of depression but my cats always manage to make me feel something sweet and joyful and I am so grateful for it. Please be kind to the cats of this world.
Animals close to their owners will start to feel the same emotions their owners have at the same time their owners are having that emotion
