Excellent video my friend. This will be beneficial to me in the future, as I have a few 8 3/4's that will inevitably need freshening up. And I have not gone through one completely before. Nice work...
Howdy Ya'll, I had know idea u could fit 81/4" backing plates on an 83/4" if I knew could have saved a few bucks when I pieced together an 83/4 for my Javelin. Makes sense now that I think of it because alot of owners put the later B van wheel cylinders on there 83/4" muscle cars because they have a smaller bore and prevent wheel lock up.
Stuff falling out or worse, getting into your teeth does happen. Somehow part of the spring plate in my LSD broke off in the 9.25 of my Ramcharger in 2009. It got into my spider gears and that debris destroyed my ring and pinion by the time I heard the noise..
Cool little vid Sir..and another job ticked off the list!! Now the colour....Hmmmm I am partial to the bright Ford red...I like B5 Blue too..choosing this was the hardest part of my A Body build and Ill be going through that nightmare again on my barracuda...Gloss Black looks tuff but I just dont think I like it
Question on your housing prep. I had my Green bearings installed on my axle shafts by a professional, reputable machine shop. I removed the button from the carrier. I cannot get the axles to seat in the housing now. It's like the bearings are a larger exterior diameter than stock. It looks as if there might be a race that needs to come out of the ends of the housing. Have you got any suggestions? I'm stumped!
Only one gasket. I used rtv on the housing side and a little grease on the pumpkin side so in the future the gasket stays and allows easy removal of the gear case. The copper washers came with the new stud kit... I assume they are there to prevent leakage passed the studs
Ok, could have swore I saw a second gasket but my eyes must be tricking me. Thanks for clearing that up. Great video, I had never seen those studs replaced before.
I m also working on an 8 3/4 that I swaped to disk brake using the mo 400 green bearings. now I'm wondering if the gasket gose between the bearing flange and backing flange so that the snap ring don't get crushed 🤔. it's the hosing end, backing flange then the gasket and Axle with bearings?
Nice job Plymouth Whisperer.
you have to really whisper at a Plymouth to get results!

Yep Mother Mopar used many of the same parts across all models
Nice work! I like Orange for this car but with a low gloss finish and then big white Plymouth decal on the back quarters.
Oh yeah that would be slick... A satin finish would definitely be cool
I like yellow or maybe a wrap!
Top Banana!

Hey DW, where did you buy the axle flange studs?
www.doctordiff.com/mopar-housing-end-stud-kit.html
@@TheDodgeWhisperer much appreciated!
No problem dude
Looked like you double gasketed the center section, was there a reason for that? Also, why the copper washers?

what's wrong with purple 🙂
I’m using green bearings, do I need to remove the old rubber seal it’s inside the axle tube first?
Nope. I never do.
I don’t even know how to ply yahtzee.🤣🤣
Neither do I 🤣🤣🤣
Why is the video out of sync with the audio? Is it the software?
sorry dude. 29.97fps doesnt work for you tube the problem should be resolved in future videos. thenks for watching!
@@TheDodgeWhisperer ,you don't have to apologise to me, I wasn't complaining just curious what caused it and what's needed to prevent it.
Lacking details - you say this thing for the thrust thing - what is it ? where does it go? Lame.....
