    About time you checked out a Ford Transit! Plus, Pleasure Way is one of the best constructed van out there, and it is backed by a 5-year warranty. At just under 6'3" in height, the Pro Master and Mercedes do not have the headroom, especially with shoes on, but as you discovered, the Transits have the best headroom of the van chassis options. Two other well made Transits are the Coachmen Beyond and American Coach/Midwest Automotive Design. If you have a chance test drive one, it has the most powerful engine of any van option as well, and you will be impressed. Also, the 2024 model will have a 600AH lithium battery, 3000 watt inverter, and the truma adventa AC. The models up to the 2023 have a 200AH lithium battery and 2000 watt inverter and the AC you saw. I am actually looking for a low mileage model up to 2022, cuz they enlarged an already large bathroom for the 2023 model, shortening the bed from 79" to 76" (grrrr!).

    • @toddodle8688
      @toddodle8688 Год назад +1

      The 2024 upgrades sound huge to me. I wonder with the upgraded inverter and batteries if you could run the AC and the convection oven at the same time? I have read this was not possible on the 2023.

    • @JohnSeitz
      @JohnSeitz Год назад +2

      @@toddodle8688I believe AC is connected to generator only.

      Though the transit is narrower… and the cab is much smaller tighter than a Sprinter. I’ll take the better cab and driving position of a Sprinter.

      I like the mercedes, but need the headroom of the Transit.@@JohnSeitz

    • @johnthomson5730
      @johnthomson5730 Год назад

      for the 2024 you can now run the AC off the inverter, but not sure about running both the AC and convection oven at the sametime. Pleasure Way is retaining the generator even with the inverter/battery upgrades. I spoke to one of the factory reps, and he said they were not comfortable not having without the generator as an additional charging source. Pleasure Way is known for being conservative with their builds.

    We had an Ontour as we loved the Transit chassis. WE choose this over the Coachmen Beyond due to the better build quality and great warranty. BUT we traded it in after only a year as we HATED the rear lounge area and having to make and break the bed everyday. AFter a few months it was ONLY in the bed position (like many others) so with the bed made we had no lounge area options (except the front swivel seats) which help but isn't a lounge. any of these couch to bed sets always require a mattress topper to not feel the seems between the cushions. so when you make the lounge you have to store the topper, and all of the bedding somewhere. total PIA
    I'm also tall, but love the pizza oven.
    Expensive lesson learned, having a fixed bed and lounge is critical.

We got a 2023 Ontour 2.2 a couple months ago and are currently on our first long trip, Jupiter, Fla to Mt Gretna, PA. We are loving the Ontour. I drive a Transit at work and already knew I loved that chassis. Drove the BlueRidge parkway on the way up and it handled like a dream. We are so happy with our Pleasureway. Got a good price too. $140k sale price. Going to Hershey RV show on Wednesday. Can’t wait to see the new 2024 Pleasureway. Thanks again for your videos and safe travels. 😊

      I owned a Pleasureway van for 15 years built on the old E-350 chassis. When I bought it I believed the advantage of the Ford is that everyone would service it. That turned out not to be the case. The Ford dealer in Portland was happy to service it, but my hometown Ford would not. Even the commercial Ford truck dealer in my area would not service it. I ended up doing my own oil changes and having an independent garage work on it. Their service bay was not tall enough for the van, but they serviced it outside their service bay. I live in California and even the smog check cost more because it was an RV when really for smog purposes it was just a boring old Ford van.

Another Great small Canadian manufacturer that takes pride in what they build instead of pumping out a poor quality subpar product that will constantly be at the dealer. Ultimately we went with the transit. The RAM chassis still lacks power and the AWD/ or dually wheels in the rwd. The Ram finally caught up a bit with their new digital dash and large screen and transmission update. They are finally listening!

    Another great video! I looked hard at a Pleasure-Way, but they still have 90-degree angles everywhere. The cabinets above, the kitchen counter, etc. I can see a deep, dark blue bruise from each of those sharp corners when I bang into them (which is unavoidable in a van). Did you see that edge of the kitchen counter nearest to the bed???? Omg, it's a double-90-degree edge that would impale you.
    All they'd have to do is router them into rounded corners. It makes me think that none of the brass at Pleasure-Way (or most other manufacturers) has ever lived in a camper van.

    No on that AC. It is LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. Also, that wasn't an ice maker, that was the freezer! Not much space. Don't give up on your twin bed floor plan. That sofa/bed system is not that comfortable and the back of the sofa stores a bit but once the bed is down you lose a lot of space plus you smell what ever is back there. I had a similar floorplan (Grech Strada). I agree about the Ford chassis though. I hated the Mercedes and it is much more expensive to have worked on. I like the Coachmen Beyond (Ford Chassis) but the back windows don't open 😞and the Nova is on the Ram but I like it. Keep bringing the videos!

      The MB is a better platform for a class B, the higher side door being one of the reasons and I would love a good diesel. A little research on MB reliability makes me willing to put up with a lower side door. The 4 cylinder MB diesel is reported to be better than their notorious V-6 diesel but the Ford has stronger statistics behind it at the moment. A red flag is that MB has a warranty that is the industry bare minimum.

This is not with Lithium batteries? Also, what do you keep in your pizza oven now & where would you store it in here? The puzzle bed layout may not be what you want. You have to chance from bed to table all the time. Panoramic rv has a always on bed and living room both. Check that out.

    Ive wanted an Airstream on a Mercedes for as long as I can remember. Watching recent reviews and vloggers have issues with both, the Transit would be my next choice. Grech and Pleasure-Way would be two manufacturers id consider now.

    Anybody know what these "really" sell for when purchasing? I've also looked at the Entegra Expanse, Jayco Solstice which are also built on the same Ford chassis but don't know the quality difference between those and the Pleasure Way for an additional 30k more.

    As a '23 Thor Tellaro 20J owner, I would really miss the front lounging area similar to your 20A's front "lounge" area. We swivel the front seats and hang on them and the bench and play boardgames and cards every trip. Our 20J has the identical rear lounge/bedroom convertible setup as this Pleasure-Way does, but like yourselves, we leave the bed perma-made (too much hassle to make a bed everyday damnit!). Didn't see Bob mention anything about power (batteries/panels/invertor/generator) etc but did see x3 panels up top? Really appreciate seeing a Ford interior vs the RAM, but couldn't bring myself to buy a Van with a model name that sounds like a "made for her sex-toy" :P

    I was a big fan of the Transit 5-6 yrs ago, but I know too many people who've had quality issues in the past few years & the Transit now feels tired & dated to me. The extra 6" width in the Promaster is a big plus for me, too. If I loved everything else about a coach on a Transit, I wouldn't rule it out, but I'd proceed with caution.

      Dual rear wheels provide extra stability and give the advantage of extra weight capacity. Aside from the expense of buying two extra tires, I don't see your point. What price do you put on your personal safety? I love having dual rear wheels. Just make sure you have a tire pressure monitoring system.

      @@lynnknight2046 - Of course 4 is less expensive than 6 tires.... that's obvious.
      Lynn, my point is focused on safety, not the cost. Actually, it's all very expensive. And, even though I love the benefits of driving a diesel, excellent fuel economy, and, the possibility of the engine living longer than me ( LOL). The diesel engines have been known to go 300,000 to 500,000 miles. That's not to say that other stuff besides the base engine won't fall, but, the motor is very robust. I don't think I have the time or energy to drive 500,000 miles... that is a very long distance....
      Maintaining a diesel is more expensive as well....
      So, you make choices....I wouldn't trade my 6 tires for 4..... that was a prerequisite for buying my RV.....If you think about it, the vehicle is almost 10 feet tall.... losing a tire is very dangerous. I have my tires replaced every 60 months regardless of mileage. That's very expensive too. That was $2,000.....

Give me a fixed bed. I like the comfortable bathroom but it is literally against the driver’s seat and you can’t recline. I would also need a full fridge, especially a bigger freezer. And lastly, the price tag, I could not justify paying that much for a class B when I can get a B+ or C and even a class A for the same and even less. Ok I get off my soap box now.

    I like Pleasure Way quality, but they need to stop putting all the ugly cutouts and huge branding on the van body. It ruins the clean look of the van and makes it impossible to stealth camp since it stands out like a sore thumb. They also need to offer an all electric package that eliminates the propane system and Onan generator, and uses the chassis fuel for heat and hot water. A lot of buyers simply don't want the added weight and safety concerns of propane. This would be easily doable since they now offer a 600 amp lithium battery, 3000 watt inverter, 300 watt solar, and they can add a 2nd alternator for fast charging while driving. I also don't like any of the interior color choices. I prefer a darker look and it's a mistake not offering a darker interior option. Also, the chassis needs the upgraded LED lighting. Halogen headlights on an expensive coach like this is inexcusable. These simple changes would make the Ontour one of the best B vans on the market, but as it is currently I would pass.
