HOW TO SAY & TEACH "T" & "D" SOUNDS: At Home Speech Therapy Minimal Pairs // Speech Sound Hand Cues

The T and D are made in the same position of the mouth - tongue tip is slightly flat and behind your teeth at the roof of your mouth! "Explode" the 'T" by pushing your tongue away from the roof of your mouth! That's how you make the "T" sound! Do the exact same, but just turn your voice ON to make the "D" sound!
Use touch cues and visuals to help your child remember which sound to use in the word!
As you decrease cues, take away the verbal imitation first, and keep the touch cue/visual!

Typical Child Speech Error Substitutions:
/t/ sounds like /k/ sound (ex: "cap" instead of "tap" - Phonological Process: BACKING)
/t/ sounds like /d/ sound (ex: "dop" instead of "top" - Phonological Process: VOICING)
/d/ sounds like /g/ sounds (ex:"gog" instead of "dog" - Phonological Process: BACKING)
/d/ sounds like /t/ sound (ex: "time" instead of "dime" -Phonological Process: DEVOICING)
