One Pic Per Year: Brampton, 1900 to 1924

- Rewind to the first quarter of the 20th century, when Brampton was a small town surrounded by farmland and a few other hamlet communities, like Churchville, Huttonville, and Woodhill. Here are a few pics of that era, as industry grew locally.

00:42 1907: Merchant's Bank, 1 Main St South, the southwest corner of Main Street and Queen Street, Brampton
00:48 1908: Brampton Lawn Bowling Club, George Street, Brampton
00:53 circa 1909: Morrison log house, Toronto Gore. The log house itself was built in 1840, and the land later became the site of Castlemore Golf and Country Club.
00:58 1910: Groat cheese factory, at Lot 17, Chinguacousy, near Norval. In modern terms, this would be just north of Bovaird, between Mount Pleasant Village and Norval.
01:04 1911: Fire insurance plan, showing the CNR station and industrial lands around the railroad.

01:14 circa 1913: Main Street, Huttonville
01:20 1914: Planned drill hall site during the First World War, submitted to the federal Minister of Justice. The hall would have been located on the northeast corner of Queen Street West and George Street.

01:30 circa 1916: 126th Battalion CEF, A Company
01:42 1917: New steel bridge, Churchville
01:47 1918: Fundraising parade for a field kitchen for the 126th Battalion.

02:11 1922: Brampton Citizens' Band after winning CNE Band Contest
02:18 1923: Certificate of record, transfer of ownership, The American Jersey Cattle Club, for Gertie's Golden Oxford, sold from Mrs. E. M. Kimball, Enosburg, Vermont to B. H. Bull & Son, Brampton, Ontario. "Gertie" was born in 1921.

02:30 1922: Queen St, looking east, Brampton.
My maternal Grandfather's family was from this area. They had a huge farm that is now the Armstrong Brother's farm (Smith/Armstrong House). I live in the States, Ohio and I am doing historical research to find out more about my Canadian Family.
