- Who Am I.
Written by Producer Pip Williams and Peter Hutchings.
Eden explains the multi layered backing vocal process that went into this recording and the changes made to the intro due to the technical issues involved in the recovery of these 34 years old tapes. The end result of pain staking hours of work paid off and this song made it onto the album. Please subscribe and comment below.
Great stuff again John. This has always been my favourite track on the album and the remix version is superb. Good to see Status & Quo chilled out to the mighty Quo!
Appreciate your feedback.Status and Quo will be in a new video coming soon !
So much better than that tinny sound the original mix had, the production ruined the album.
How on earth did I not come across this channel before now? - this is great stuff! I love the background info and the extended outros - Thank You
TG. John,u bring this album back to what it shudda been.great tnks
Much better. 👍 Love the ending, not too keen on the pause at 12:54, it seems to be what a limp would sound like if it could make a noise, on the whole though its far easier litening.
Cant believe Quo had an outside guitarist on the album! That would have been unheard of on Blue For You and all the albums before .....just saying.
I think to keep it in perspective this part was played on slide, not a style Francis or Richard were used to. Pip is the co writer of the song and producer and I think what he brought to the table here was excellent. Its a great vocal and solo from Francis.
The whole band really took to doing this song and having Pips input. In fact after I'd completed the remix I made a CD for Alan. His response was this was his favorite form all the remixes and he added still relevant for the US market. Yes I respect from a purest view point of Quo before its against the grain. I do hope however you found something positive in the video and the performances by the band. Cheers, John

Love sleeping puppies in the back ground mate!! Hehehe!!
They've grow a bit and will be in a new video being shot in San Francisco bay this weekend
Great mix John! One of my all time fav Quo songs and Rossi vocals. Just wondering John,is that Bernie Frost singing the high parts?
Yes
this album never had enough bass, always sounded tinny
Thank you so much John!! One of my all time Quo favourites!
It is Alan's favorite of all the remixes
Mix is absolutely crystal clear.....sounds like it could've been recorded yesterday
Yes when Alan heard it we chatted and he felt it would still be relevant for the USA market
Masterpiece of the album
A great song from Pip and Peter, I loved reconstructing this.
This is a wonderful mix, just wondering what Pip makes of this project John was he receptive or resentful?
Delighted you are enjoying the mix.
Thanks again John, am absolutely loving all of these videos!
Do you recall who sang the backing vocals on this track?
Great I think the mission is now complete
The one I've been waiting for...... an absolute belter of a track! For me the most improved track on the record! That guitar intro with the delay effect is magnificent....... and the drum sound is awesome. Thanks again John, superb!!!
Ahh thank you so much I really appreciate how you've summed it all up.
@@johneden-producer4614 john, when that bass drum comes in and the track starts to build...... my god, its absolute Quo at their best. This has always been one of the great Quo tracks for me, but heard years ago it was just an album filler as it was a pip Williams track. For me its a stunning track, especially the new mix. Thankyou for the video's John, absolutely terrific!
Good on you John! Thanks again, back in these days there was surely some magic in the studio. Working with real tapes and buttons must have been more fun than nowadays just looking ant a computer screen. A very good mix and the band playing at their best!
Thank you Wolfgang
that sounds fantastic / im loving how the mix process works
Great Martin thanks for your feedback
I keep on coming back to these video's every now and then. So interesting!
Great remix for sure. I've always loved that melodic lick at 11:47
It always amazes me the quality and clarity of sound which can be pulled from decades old tape, despite the increasing fragility of the tape. Also how far s/w like Logic & Pro Tools have come.
Brilliant - another gem! Thanks so much, so interesting again to hear your thoughts and the instruments broken down. And also the problems on the intro. Love the ending too. But John's drumming all the way through is just.... brilliant. He's like a machine and just gets in you! Can't believe Status and Quo slept through it! hehe. Thanks John - you're quite right in your 'biased' opinion! :-)
This is one of my favourite Songs from Quo and now it´s so powerfull,i love the voices and the guitars,im flying, thanks for your work, love and respect from Germany
Fantastic John!
So love this mix of it..my fave track on the album just got better! Cheers John, great work.
I love these videos, I find the fascinating
This one completes the set.
Stunning! Thank you so much, what a brilliant job...
super.............
One of Rossi's best vocals and just the right lilt for the song. The story behind the techniques used for the backing vocals, when it was very much hands-on in those days, has really added to the back story of the tracks. The extended outro sounds fabulous.
Glad you enjoyed it AB
Another fascinating watch John. I think I've played the remix edition in the nearly 4 years it's been released, more then the original album released nearly 42 years ago.
Is it not long ago no wonder I see grey bits !
Great job. Sounds like a Pip Williams song. Did he play the slide on it?
Yes Pip and Peter's song and Pip played slide and acoustic
Brilliant! When recording required more than a click here and drag and drop there.
Next month I'm back behind an old Neve in San Francisco
Awesome. Many people forget what an amazing blues band Quo were
That is definitely the stand out track, love it.
Great vocal from Francis on this... Almost as good as The Wild Ones, which was his best ever vocal, in my humble opinion!
Great mix, this one 👍
Cheers Jure, Yes I would agree, these are two examples of great vocals he did that weren't his songs.
Have to be honest. Overall, on this occasion, that asrehole Williams done a better job with this one
