I'm a bit inspired to have a second look at this area of the city now. I walked by the museum and the ruin last week but didn't know much about it. Thanks dude

Sure! Definitely worth a few hours if you can spare the time when in Athens. Took me three trips to Athens to finally visit the site but well worth it.

Those marble sculptures are very well preserved.
It's nice to see that, even though it has partially abandoned by humans, at the very least it has become a place for cats and turtles to roam as they please.

I probably should have mentioned it in the video, but the major funerary sculptures are preserved in the on-site museum. The ones outdoors are modern copies from the last several centuries I believe.

But I think some of the marble is ancient, too. For instance the scene where you see my hand gliding over the Greek inscriptions-I believe that has remain unmoved from its place since the ancient world. Will do some more research on this site and possibly make a follow-up video. Was a wonderful place to explore, that’s for sure!

Are there any kiln remains to be found , I;ma potter in australia been making Ancient Greek black gloss pots for ages, and it is difficult especially like when the weather is hot and the wind gets up. rims dry out handles crack we have a drought so water is short, all those pots from one tiny stream i doubt it, you need water to make pottery,

Lovely, except for the plague killing 1/3 of the population 430 BC.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Yes, so tragic that so many lost their lives in Athens at this time. Reports are based on estimates and vary, but upwards to 75,000 - 100,000 is likely.
