    I m glad I came across your RUclips. This one reassured my decision to sign up for Todoist. I almost regretted it after figuring out the most effective way to use it. Your video clicked a light bulb in my head.

    I've recently started listening to your Todoist and Evernote videos. I feel as if I may be starting to get a grip on my massive task list. As I've been learning, I've had occasion to watch other people's videos. I wanted to say that I have found your videos helpful and to the point and that you are never boring. Kudos to you! I've also found that as your system has changed since some of your earlier videos 5 or 6 years ago that it has become more intuitive and easier to use (at least it works better for the way my brain sees things). Thank you!

    Ah great video Carl. I recently signed up & finished for your Your Digital Life 3.0 course and have just realised that i've been time blocking incorrectly 🤦🏻‍♂ I've been putting in times on each Todoist action and then syncing it with my Google Calendar. I didn't realise that you don't need times on the Todoist items. I thought it was getting a bit fiddly!

    • @Carl_Pullein

      That's wonderful to hear. Glad you found a way to make time blocking work better for you.

    Thanks Carl. I notice that you don't have exercise scheduled in your Todoist as a daily task, but you have a "routines" project defined. What types of routines do you think should be added to Todoist and what should be left out?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +1

      Hi Victor, Exercise needs to be done at a specific place at a set time, so for me, it is an event rather than a task. So, it goes on my calendar (every day between 3:30 and 4:30pm)

    You've changed your mouse and keyboard mat. I noticed the brown one the other day but now its blue. Perhaps a review on your favourite mouse mats? ;-)

    • @Carl_Pullein

      Hi Dez, I haven't changed my keyboard or "mouse". I haven't used a mouse for over ten years now. I've been using a trackpad for a very long time. I do have a new desk mat, though. The theme of my office is navy blue and white, so I bought a navy blue desk mat.

    Thank you for this. I have a question and can’t quite figure the answer. In the help section there is discussion of using Todoist as a habit tracker. I would like to track the days I complete my workout and show when I completed past workouts like in a streaks format. The help section talks about the “Don’t Break the Chain” system but I can’t see how to set it up. Have any ideas?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +2

      Task managers like Todoist are not very good at habit tracking because there's no easy way to see what you have done. For tracking habits, you would be better off looking at a dedicated habit tracker. This video by Thomas Frank should give you some ideas. ruclips.net/video/491oCCVMa04/видео.html

    This is great - thanks for this, Carl. The challenge I have is that I manage a team of people, and I while I do consistently block time in my calendar for tasks that require my focus, I need to be responsive to the needs of others; this can lead to frustration when I have my day planned out, yet need to make shifts in the moment. Any advice here?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mark, if part of your work is to be responsive to others, you need to bear that in mind when you are planning out the day. For that you will need to build in more flexibility and take advantage of the quieter moments with NET time. (No Extra Time)

    Very detailed Carl but as a life/career coach I'm concerned about you. Do you do anything other than work related things in your life?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +1

      Hahaha no problems there, Rob. I've been working split shifts from the first job I had (hotel management) so, a straight 8-10 hours a day is alien to me. I get most afternoons off to spend with my family and little dog. I prefer working split shifts. It works best with my natural biorhythm.

    Hi Carl, I see that you have "Send $ 1700 to my savings account" in your 2022 Goals/Finance folder instead of your Recurring Areas of Focus folder. Could you explain why? Thank you for your videos.

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +1

      Hi Charly, for my specific goals, I like to have them in my goal planning area. It doesn't really matter where you put the task. The important thing is the task appears on the today list when it is due. As long as that happens, then the system works.
      Longer-term goals (ie, not for just this year) are likely to be in my recurring areas of focus though as the details of those goals will be in my notes app.

      These are the two tasks I MUST complete today. I look at it only once first thing in the morning to remind what my objectives are for the day.

    I’m having problems adding an email to Todoist from Apple Mail. I use IOS exclusively btw. When I forward it puts in a link to what looks like an html version of the message but doesn’t open the message natively in Apple Mail. When I drag a message into Todoist it doesn’t even create a link. It puts what looks like the characters from the link but it is not clickable. It is not a link. I’ve read Todoist support and watched your videos but don’t find an answer. Have you experienced this?

    • @Carl_Pullein

      I Have blocks of time for the type of work I am doing. Todoist tells me what needs to be related to that type of work.

    I have 1000 pictures but the photos app takes up 10 gb whereas I have family members with over 1500 pictures that up less than 2 gb. My question is what should I do to bring the gb amount way down besides deleting stuff which I’ve already done. Most of my photos have been taken as “Live Photos” unintentionally, i’m thinking that could be the problem? If so what should I do?
