    Very well explained. Now I am also temted to upgrade my old laptop. Does it involve any software/OS compatibility issues? Or once we install these, we are good to go irrespective of the OS/ Version?

      Thanks for your interest! There's no compatibility issues as such, as far as you are using upwards of Windows 7. Win7 onwards it's simply plug and play. However, I recommend to do a clean installation of windows on SSD to make use of its full speed potential.

      Thank you sir! It worked for me, should work for you as well. Make sure to do a clean install of Windows on SSD. Do not simply reinstall. And yes, do not forget to backup your data before clean install.
      Do let me know in case of doubts.
      And please share the video with your 'suffering' friends.. 😉
      Have a good time upgrading your laptop.. 😌

      Ome more thing, if you wish to upgrade multiple Laptops, I suggest to go for lower capacity SSD - say 250GBs, to load only your OS and important apps. That will boost your overall operational speed. You can store rest of the data files on HDD.

    This is super explanation. I have an Ideapad 330. Can I upgrade it as your have shown here? Also would I be able to keep both existing HDD and new SSD? Where should I install OS - on HDD or SSD?

    • @GauraJaReviews
      @GauraJaReviews  3 года назад +1

      That's a very good question! I believe Ideapad 330 has a DVD ROM drive. So yes, you can keep existing HDD, and install new SSD as well. You'll have to get rid of DVD drive though - to make space for SSD+Caddy.
      I recommend to do a clean Installation of Windows on SSD - meaning NOT reinstallation. You get Option of whether you wish to reinstall or clean/newly install the Windows. Make a choice of clean installation. It shall wipe all your data and install Windows on SSD. MAKE SURE to backup all your data before doing this. And DO NOT make an image of existing HDD. Just backup your data files, and reload them after clean Installation.
      Do reply in case of any doubt. Happy to help 😌

    What is NVMe? Are there diff types of SSDs? Can I use same procedure for all?

    • @GauraJaReviews
      @GauraJaReviews  3 года назад

      NVMe stands for Non-volatile Memory Express. It's totally different protocol compared to SATA, which is shown here. Hence,you can choose right type of interface for your laptop depending on your laptop's compatibility. If your laptop is older than 4-5 years, there's high possibility that it's SATA compatible.
      I am not well versed with installation of NVMe based SSD. However, it's also plug and play protocol. Hence process will be similar if not same.

    Which type/version of RAM is that? I checked DDR2 RAM, costs hefty 7k+ !

    • @GauraJaReviews
      @GauraJaReviews  3 года назад

      The one shown here is DDR3, which is comparatively newer than DDR2. DDR2 being outdated for long, it must be costly. Moreover, there's a good chance that it's used/refurbished one. I suggest to go for a new basic laptop instead, if your usage is not heavy.
