At what point will the teams around MLB start their own academies starting at the 8-year-old level? Soccer has this model in Europe and from what I understand MLS has started this in the USA. Baseball already has this in the Caribbean. They provide education up to the high school level in some cases. I doubt a lot of parents in the USA would go for this but I think there will be some parents who would.

You are correct about the MLS or at least by what a neighborhood kid told me. Now I forget what team because I'm not a soccer fan but he is "contracted" to a team and plays for them all over the US (we are from a small town in PA). Only thing I didn't like about it was he said that he could not play HS soccer when he got to that point (now in middle school). If I understood correctly, it was the organizations rule not a HS thing.

@@joerogers7359 Yes, I think that is right and it is correct in baseball too at IMG Academy. They do not play in the traditional high school format. Kids around here are even bypassing HS sports to play travel only and showcase baseball. And as Boras said, most of the kids who are in these programs will not be even play in college.

How can that be if you are a minor when your parents signed it. When you become an adult you can sue them

What sucks about PG is they are paying former and some current players to say how good the program is. If Tournament is rained out parents dont get reimbursed

I have been umping for perfect game the past 2 years after they bought out baseball nation in Tx. PG is a joke and all about taking as much money from parents as possible. While paying umpires bottom dollar and charging max dollar for teams and “ pg registration fee” fall and spring haha. Joke tournaments 10 month out of year every weekend.

How much do they charge to get in to see the games? We are up to as much as $50/ weekend for one admission. Completely nuts.
