- Super Easy Rum Cake
1 package of Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
1 box of Yellow Cake mix
5 eggs
1/2 cup of Water
1/2 cup of Canola Oil
1/2 cup of Rum of choice
1 tablespoon of extract of your choice
garnish (walnuts 1 cup or shredded coconut)
Glaze:
1 1/2 sticks of butter sorry not cups
1 1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of Rum of choice
1/4 cup of water

Haven’t had rum cake in years and your recipe, along with hints, looks delicious. My grandchildren are gluten free so I will be using a gf cake mix, I think it will adapt well. We are, also, at a high altitude so will probably add a couple tablespoons of gf flour. If anyone else is above 5,000 feet and has used this recipe, I would love to hear about their adjustments. Thank you for sharing this amazing looking cake recipe! Can’t wait to try it.
Thank you I had watched a couple of videos on how to make a rum cake. Your personality is awesome. Just made this cake and per your suggestion I checked my cake at 45 minutes and it still needed a few more minutes per your suggestion I turned off the oven and let it sit in there. The cake the glaze came out beautifully Thank you so much. My first rum cake.

This is how my mom always made rum cake. Thank you! It brought back memories she always used Bacardi.
Another way is to take the cake out the tin skewer it , and pour half the rum glaze into the tin then put the cake back into the tin and let it soak it up then skewer the bottom of the cake and pour over the rest of the glaze , leave to set then turn out onto a cake stand and enjoy !

Hi!!! I used Captain Morgan's for my regular one and Malibu when I want a coconut flavored one. When I get my hands on Tortuga then I use that but that is special occasion

You can store it up to 3 days in the fridge, after that it needs to be discarded

You didn't specify the measurements in the ingredients
I have them in the description box so they are easily available to go back without pausing the video
I just want to confirm: one tablespoon extract (like vaniilla)? And I read elsewhere that it's good to let the cake/glaze sit for 24 hours before serving so that the glaze sinks into the cake. What do you think of that idea?

Hey luv I did the part right but my glaze was thick n not thin like yours. N I follow u step by step. Wonder what with wrong
Hi Dianna, if your glaze is too thin once you are done cooking it you can refrigerate for a bit to thicken it up. If it's too thick you can add more butter and rum to it. Thick glaze is good too since the cake will soak all those flavors up once sitting

I sure do, I put it towards the end so it burns off the alcohol
How would the measurements change of I want to add more rum?
I would suggest two things:
1.Make Pipettes with the Rum of your choice and have them for each slice of cake then squeeze directly into it a couple hours before serving it to adults
2. Add more to the glaze and adjust the amount of sugar so the glaze keeps its integrity
