I got the sigma 24-70 f2.8 the beginning of this year for wedding season and I've been really happy with it. I only used primes too except for a couple kit lenses and I do miss the wider aperture sometimes but it's a super solid and versatile lens. I definitely recommend having one, it's just too useful. I'm sure the canon is great too
I have the Tamron 24-70 f2.8. It's good, but I don't think it will replace your prime lenses. I loved my 85 Sigma Art f1.4 and the nifty. But I picked up the RF 50 f1.2 and I was in love! Try that lens and watch for a used or refurbished from Canon. I've shot several events and only used my RF 50. Good luck and thanks for sharing your advice and equipment. :)
You'll have to get an adaptor, but yes you can use them although eventually I would recommend getting RF lenses as I have found they are quicker and sharper than my ef lenses with the adaptor.
i love backlight portraits, i also love the look that the 85 mm 1.8 gives for portraits.
Backlit portraits are just so dreamy and with the bokeh the 85mm can give, it can be absolutely beautiful!

Awesome, I definitely think it would be a go to for wedding photography and overall sounds like such a useful lens, thank you for the feedback!

Good to know! That RF 50mm 1.2 looks like a dream!
Can you use your 5d mark two lenses with the mirror less?
