6:52 made me jump from my chair
“Bend the spine, *and I break yours”*
Something I would tell a person when lending a book. Made me laught out loud for real
I am watching this like a suspense movie..never knew how to open a new book properly until I saw your video.. A very good tip
Hahaha, good to know that it is entertaining. Thanks, Alicia!
@@booksnbobs 99% of the books I buy are used but great condition but I fell like this wouldn't work on certain books
thank you so much, you’re a lifesaver! and it wasn’t boring at all, I felt like I was doing it with a friend!
not boring at all...i'm sitting here doing the same to my book.
this video saved my life! saw this video two years ago and have been following this throughout with all my non-hard covered books. thank you!
This actually worked! Have to see if it doesn't crack while reading but hopefully this works!
I saw this technique before. Can you comment on the difference between hardcover and paperback, as well as the difference between glued and sewn bindings when it comes to spine issues and this technique? Thanks for your video!
thank you so much, i just start read books a couple of days ago
It was not boring a bit... more an enjoyment! When the beep went off was exciting, one of the high spots of the demonstration. There is almost nothing worse than a book with cracked spine...sadness... thanks for your great lesson!
Thanks it worked
100% did not even change the shape
10:11 👁️👄👁️ Me who was doing the demonstration with the Diary of young girl pocket classic edition. (Fortunately it's not damaged😌)
I'm also doing this with my first book which is harry potter 😭 i really want to maintain it's shape cause it's my very first book😌
This is so cool, love it ❤️ worked amazingly for me 👍🏼
thank you for the video, very helpful
Thanks for making this video.
Thank you 🙌
Thank you ☺️💕
I have been doing this with all my new books, but I do it with every page not ten to twenty.
just bought my first manga and had to watch this, even though i bent the front a bit. but stopped and watched this.
Did it work bro ...i have omnibus edition manga with even weaker pages 😅
Cool video. 😎👍🏾
I think it all depends on how hard is the spine. Unfortunately my book's spine was not elastic at all, so this approach didn't worked for it, spine got damaged.
Some books have extra rigid spines especially old books as the glue on the spine has harden and became brittle. I'm sorry the spine of your books got damaged.
Does this work on old books as well?
Can you suggest me from where I can read how to keep books safe and life long . Tips and tricks . All about book care .
however i do it the middle of the spine always cracks even when i only do 10 pages at a time and go really slow it still happens. any tips?
Same. :'( I just cracked mine too
My tip: break the spine, it really doesn't matter. Books are designed to be read, if you are constantly worrying about the damage done by reading the thing, then it kills the whole point. I never care if the spine will get bent or broken, I just open the book whichever diddly damn way I find to be most comfortable, and roll with that. I will break a spine if it just means being able to look a word in the eye.
Here is a video that should help you come into terms that books are designed to be opened

@@omarhatem9575 that was a pretty nice poem
I wish i knew this before i finished harry potter and the order of the phenoex :')
I am that type of a person who don't even want that curve(;O;)
I hate seeing my books bent on the sides(where I hold while reading)
Well maybe you can open the book a quarter of the way and focus on preserving the shape orher than preserving the condition overall
@@gerardocastro1004 It doesn't work like that. You have to open the book completely to be able to read those words hiding in the corner
I have 1 question. Why some books open all the way to the sides, even without this technique. You can just put them flat on the bed, no need of holding it with your hands.. Like our school textbooks I remember, then theres a 1000 page book i have hitchikers guide to the galaxy. While so many paperbacks like the six of crows, we need to hold them and read?
Doing it to a couple of Omnibuses.
Also Hufflepuff Unite!
Did it work 😅
Please your name,l love you much
Yeahhhhh no my book is *TOO RARE* it started cracking *F THIS NOISE* just get a damn pdf . This *WILL* jack up your books spine bruh.
