“You can make the decisions when you’re a Jedi master.”
“Well that’s the thing, how can I be a master if I’m always getting caught?”
“Well at least you’re a master, at getting caught.”
Somewhat parallels ANH. The first Hondo arc is a thing of beauty in terms of interactions.

@@ioannislelou6437 i smell profit!!! Haha, nice!
I remember I spat my drink out laughing when they said that
the "grievous never meets anakin" was my favourite running gag of the show. The lengths they go to make that happen are hilarious
What is more interesting to me is Revenge of the Sith also implied that Anakin didn't meet Dooku between the two movies, but that didn't bother the show, as they fought multiple times.
@@szabok1999 well, he only said "My powers have doubled since our last encounter"
And they don't see each other in the last seasons, so it still kind of fits
@@sasir2013 But they do. They met when Anakin and Obi-wan investigated the death of Sifo-dyas in season 6. What's even better is they fought Dooku together, which makes Obi-wan's line in ROTS ("this time, we do it together" or something like that) unnecessary.
And if they wanted to remain absolutely loyal to the dialogue in the movies, then Obi-wan shouldn't have fought Grievous either. Because if they have fought multiple times before, than why the heck did Grievous feel the need to say "I've been trained in your jedi arts by Count Dooku"?
@@szabok1999 oh yeah, I forgot that encounter
@@szabok1999 There's a line in the Revenge of the Sith novel that implied that Grevious could even battle Windu to a draw (or even beat him given sufficient time) which makes Clone Wars Grevious even more dissapointing.

I think in the "Trying to capture Dooku" arc, the pirates didn't actually drug Ani and Obi. They switched their cups with the other pirates next to them so they didn't have their drugged drinks. Plus in the next episode, Ani says that he "only had a sip" while Obi replies with "We were drugged, obviously." But they both have their cheeky 'I'm being sarcastic' smiles plastered in their faces lol. So its my personal head-canon that Anakin and Obi-Wan got black out drunk then woke up in a cell, and that makes the episode even funnier lmao
you made me actually like that scene, thank you
Interesting take on that scene.
*YES*
I always figured Hondo was just savvy enough to drug all the drinks and tell his men to act natural
@Mustard Bastard I didn't think about that. Maybe the pirates were always so plastered, Hondo didn't even need to say anything to them, he knew that no-one would be able to tell the difference lol
I loved the scene where dooku basically tells grevious he’s testing him and grevious is so done with his shit he hangs up on him mid call. For once, I can say I felt bad for grevious in this episode, imagine people breaking into your home and killing your pet because your master was “testing” you.
Grievous's story is actually very sad
He has literal brain damage and eletronics controling his actions
Dooku blowed his ship up and let him deformed and mutilared, shoved an shitty life suport suit in him that makes him suffer every second, didn't fixed his brain damage and blamed everything on the jedi
@@plaguedoctorjamespainshe6009 A fellow doctor I see.
@@plaguedoctorjamespainshe6009 I remember reading a comic about the backstory on Grievous. The best part was easily the end, where Dooku visited Grievous in a throne room of sorts on a ship, with a few magna guards posted there; it was probably their first time meeting face to face since Grievous gained his new form. Dooku said some stuff (Grievous not budging or speaking the entire time as he sat on the throne), and capped it all off by giving the general a lightsaber, offhandedly mentioning on his way out that it was a great gift to be given to a DROID. The next few panels you see Grievous still sitting there, but getting continuously more agitated and livid, until a magna guard comes closer to check on him. Grievous then snaps, and proceeds to turn every single guard in the room into scrap metal, all the while screaming “I AM NOT A DROID!” over and over again, finishing it off with “I… am… General Grievous” as the last guard fell.
Amazing stuff.

Count Dookula
When Schaffrillas said he was doing the star wars the clone wars season one review this month, I decided to watch it before the review came so I could form my own opinion on it and I don't regret it. The show manages to make the clone wars feel like a real war, since it's not just about going round the galaxy fighting bad guys. It's also about gaining allies, keeping old ones and keeping casualties low like a real war

@@gcsanimations2327 definitely. Plus, given the episodic nature of much of the series, said duds are usually easily skippable if you feel so inclined and know where they are
This one is pretty poopy son
Joseph Kempinger III I know, but the first half of season 3 is the dullest stretch of the show by a long shot imo
Ahsoka really is one of the best written characters in TV history. She starts off as a cocky kid and, despite being hated by fans, the writers don’t make her character do a 180 in one episode, but she grows over several seasons. In defense of Yoda's characterization.
Order 66 was centered on the knowledge that Jedi precognition was based around sensing intent. With the inhibitor chips stopping the clones from even knowing that they had the capacity to have the intent to kill Jedi. So until that moment on kashyyyk Yoda had absolutely no reason to believe the clones were a threat and treated them the same way he would treat any of his subordinates. But when he sensed all of the Jedi death, and the two troopers advancing on him had their intentions on full display, he quickly understood what was going on and knew there would be no reasoning with them.
Yeah I was thinking that too. Like he only really killed them because he had to.
It also works on the pre TCW canon. Where the clones (with the exception of ARC troopers and comandos) could not disobey orders due to their genetic manipulation. There was no reasoning with them and the Jedi knew that. Including yoda.
Also the reason he becomes so wise is because he learned what went wrong during the prequel era
@@LordTurg323 well... He is already like 500 years old during the prequel era, so I don't think that 16 year span is the part where he "got wise." I think that, despite being extremely wise in the prequel era, he is also too arrogant to accept that the Jedi order is in real danger, which is evident by the advice he gives to Anikan during Revenge of the Sith. It's not necessarily bad advice to give a Jedi, but he didn't realise that the reason Anikan really needed advice was because he had become dissilutioned with the Jedi. He was too arrogant to realise that Anikan angry with the Jedi, and not just with the loss he was about to face
It's also further strengthens his characterization.
His peers and students, exterminated - the act felt by him due their connections to the Force. His otherwise completely loyal clone subordinates- hijacked and used as tools of betrayal in the Jedi's weakest moment.
It's a testament to his strength that he did not fall to the darkside from this act of premeditated treachery. It adds to his character.
It's funny how out of all the characters, Hondo is the one to survive every era of Star Wars.

I say this because Anakin and Grievous never meeting is what's making me boycott CW, Prequels and Filoni. Not apologising.
I think an underrated aspect of the series is how they made Anakin and Padme''s relationship an actual romance between adults and not a badly executed parody of Shakespeare . Hope he still hates sand tho
Yeah, Clone Wars actually made their relationship interesting
@@masterchief9742 ? Why did you bring up Ahsoka?
He says the line in the movie, its dumb but funny.
There's actually a reference to Anakin's hatred of sand in The Clone Wars movie. But ironically it's actually written far more precise and natural than what George Lucas was attempting to portray with the line of dialogue from AOTC.
@@theonegoldengryphon it was always interesting, you can say it’s “cringe” or whatever but that doesn’t make it bad. TCW actually simplifies their relationship so much, you can make fun of how cheesy their lines are in the prequels but it’s like that way by design. It’s not because George is some incompetent buffoon like this sheep Schaffrillas likes to echo. It makes complete sense for Anakin and Padmé to be cheesy with each other, did you not cringe whenever your parents were all lovey dovey with each other, or your high school friend and his/her girlfriend/boyfriend? Anakin and Padmé are two people who have never even experienced romantic love before, Anakin is a literal abstinent space monk, and Padmé swore her life to public service. Of course it’s awkward, but it’s also endearing because of how honest and pure it is. It’s completely fair to dislike it, but that doesn’t make it bad, is my point.

It handled the subject of colonialism really well, and it actually made the daring decision to let "the good guys" acknowledge their mistakes and meet the demands of the Indigenous people rather than finding some kind of a middle ground like most media covering colonialism do. The episode is disliked by a lot of people, but I like it. I also like it because it's an episode that goes away from the "Seppie VS Clones and Jedi trend".
Agreed, I like that both sides are portrayed as questionable, even though they both have reasonable goals (expansion of their homeland's empire vs defending national sovereignty) and shows that neither side is just evil, they both have fair but mutually exclusive goals and the real evil is the escalating conflict that gets people killed when they could maybe come to a peaceful agreement.
I know this is a super old comment, but people sleep on this episode SO hard to this day. It annoys me so much because it’s such a well done one-off story
Rest in Peace, Mr. Patrick.

I'm going to say it, this show knew how to use Jar Jar, for the most part. I'm actually going to point out Gungun General on this one as the best example. When the clones realize that Jar Jar is a force of chaos and just point him at the enemy, that's hilarious and ingenious. As a previous comment I found said "The clones weaponized Jar Jar".
It doesn't make him a good character, and he is in this show way too much, but this idea that he is so terrible that people in the universe don't like him is funny. It's like the creators wanted to have fun and make people hate him more
R.I.P Patrick and Chris.
I think Duel of a Droid is an underrated episode personally. Downfall of a Droid is generally a mess, but Duel of a Droid really adds a lot of great development to R2 and Anakin's relationship, there's some great action and the soundtrack really hits in that episode.
Also, the point of the fight with Ahsoka and Grievous is that Grievous CAN easily beat her, but spends his time toying with her due to his overconfidence, which Ahsoka uses against him.
I love Grievous and Ahsoka's duel in that episode because it plays Grievous off like he's a horror movie slasher. Wish more episodes treated Grievous the same way as Duel of the Droids and Lair of Grievous.
I love how Dave Filoni and crew gave an origin for the "Hello There" meme way before it even became a meme.

actually George is heavy included in everything of every TCW 1~6 season episode, he teached Filoni how to make Star Wars, he deserves more credits

George does not.
With his ideas and Dave’s execution, it’s why the Clone Wars is so good.
They should honestly just do Star Wars together more often. The franchise would be better for it.

@@squirt3299 That's the point. George and Filoni should work as a team, and both produce weaker works when working separately.
Also, The Mandalorian is amazing, the fuck you talking about?
@@Marcelelias11 the reason I think Mando got as big as it did was because it was competent star wars after years of bad star wars. Competent doesn't always mean good though. Most of the show just has horrible pacing while baby Yoda does something cute to keep the audience glued to the screen because without that him no one would watch. Season 2 was just a collection of cameos. Some good and some being on the level of jingling keys in your face. This doesn't mean it's completely bad because like rebels it has some good stuff in it that some people refuse to acknowledge.
They also should've saved Mando's face reveal for the season 2 finale.

A secret message, boi!
What does this mean. I have not seen the spider iron house video by Shaffer differ products. Please explain.
wow, i understood the in-joke!
I genuinely don’t understand how people found Ashoka intolerable in the beginning, she just seemed like a kid (kids are annoying guys) and growing up I saw a lot of myself in her (maybe that says a lot about me…and perhaps not in a good way haha) overall though she was (and still is) very relatable in the way she acted. Being able to grow up with a character like Ashoka weirdly taught me a lot, especially when she’d do or say something stupid and there’d be an almost immediate consequence for her action. Which I think was great for the younger viewers of the time who acted a lot like her as they’d learn whilst she learned.
Just like Lex in the jurassic park novel
I actually loved the asoka and anakin relationship, I get she is naive but that's her character ,she is a coming if age maturing over the series
Contradicts the films thouh
I actually found Trespass to be one of my personal favorites of the season for its message and commentary on colonization, as well as for it being one of the animation highlights of the season with the snow environment it took place in. Also, the Clone-Trooper snow gear is awesome.
And as an added bonus, Senator Chuchi (the blue lady) is hot AF
@@SpartanChief17C she was literally my first animated crush lol
The ending line is kinda weird tho. "To die for one's people, is a great sacrifice. To live for one's people, an ever GREATER sacrifice." Obviously, it's supposed to refer to survivor's guilt and how sometimes it's not the best course of action to recklessly charge into battle for every situation, however, especially in an episode where so many people died in service of a virtually pointless battle, to imply that Senator Chuchi is the one with the greater burden comes off as tone deaf, even if the message isn't exactly wrong.

I didn't really have a problem following who's who concerning the clones. Most of the main ones, like Rex, Cody, Echo and Fives have some distinct characterization both on their armor and their faces. And if they don't, than the writers made sure that they were still somehow distinct from the other clones, like in the Landing at Point Rain episode Waxer and Boil, the two clones from the Ryloth arc, show up and they are the only ones wearing scout trooper armor. So yeah, I didn't really have a problem with that but I understand that someone might have gotten confused, they are clones after all.
When there were a lot of characters in a busy scene it got a little hard to keep track of, but I loved that they had those consistent distinguishing marks. When they weren't wearing helmets they often had differing hair colors or styles as well.
“Cad bane should be in more things” they heard you. Bad batch and book of boba fett are awesome
They did do a comic where R2 was never found back and R3 was kept there, it was a slow burn but it totally ruined anakin's mental state from the continous "curse" of failures.
The special thing about Innocents of Ryloth is it was made to show kids who were too young to understand or know about the war in the Middle East (which was really recent at time) with the city of Ryloth taking inspiration from Middle Eastern architecture and also showing that even the innocent people even children are caught in the middle, it really made what they saw glimpses of on the news easier to swallow I know it did for little me and others I knew, so props to the writers on that
Love how Palpatine sees how badass Cad Bane is and straight up hires him in the start of season 2

I feel like Grievous did improve a little, but it just took too long. By the end, he was finally starting to be like he was in 2003, definitely not to that extent, but he was getting there. Two examples I like to think about is 1) when he fights Obi-Wan during the youngling arc in season 5. Just before they start fighting, there's five seconds where Grievous tears his way through a group of clones and then brutally murders one of them.
The second, is in the unfinished Crystal Crisis arc in which Grievous is kind of scary sometimes. But most importantly, when he fights Obi-Wan in the last episode, he disarms him almost immediately, which is a lot more like the 2003 Grievous. I also like his entrance in Grievous Intrigue, in season 2, because for a second, he feels threating. He cuts through the door with his lightsabers, you hear the tapping on the metal, and then he suddenly kicks the door out and it ends up killing one of the clones. I think the problem with Grievous is that they kept putting him in situations where he had to run away or else he would die (which obviously can't happen) or he would only be fighting Jedi that have to be alive for RotS, so he can't be a killing machine and just slaughter them. They really should've introduced us to some new Jedi that aren't in RotS and then we would have disposable Jedi for Grievous to ruthlessly murder during the show. Also, his reliance on his Magnaguards also dulled his fighting. I don't think he could've reached the level of the 2003 Grievous, (I don't think anything will) but he could've been better. However, I do still like him because I always loved him as a kid and part of that wonder is still there. Also, come on, they started delving into his backstory a little bit in Lair of Grievous but then dropped it. Some of that stuff was actually kind of interesting. Part of me still wants to see what he looks like with his mask off
I really love how Dave Feloni intentionally made Ashoka a bad character at the beginning and progressively made her a better one. It really shows his skills at writing and directing. It really seems like he had more thought put into the show than George Lucas did for the prequels.

In regards to the slick episode, it makes perfect sense why he’d want to defect. The clones are slaves to the republic (and the Jedi). They may be clones but they are also people. Of course slick would want freedom for his brothers. I wish this had been explored more in the series or at least have to Jedi address it.
