It's a beautiful story of two amazing women Petra at 16 being a translator and helping reunite children with mothers and Clare taking everyone in. They are both saints.
@@avrilpeters5900 Andrew I take it was Claire's spouse and he must have been something great because can you agreed to do as his wife wished to do, that takes a very special man.
@@bananacheese2 actually she did that because without Petra can you translate for them and tell them what was going on they would never have known that these children have been separated from their parents and what they had experienced they were in need and a child of 16 a young woman of 16 acted like a mature woman twice her age to be able to do what she did indeed they are both saints. A beautiful humane story. Francis Assisi has a sensible saying: Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
One thing to notice in this story is how Clare was so worried about the trauma on Petra, being a 16 year old with this situation thrust upon her, and relaying what these children witnessed. Clare felt guilty about pulling this additional child into the storm. I think a large amount of the catharsis in this story is Clare seeing Petra grown up and happy. It must have been such a relief!
I agree with Petra the world needs more people like Claire, but the clearest of the world meet people like Petra because even she was 16 years old she came forward and did right thing and that takes a great ill courage too.
It’s not just how fantastically big hearted Clare was to do this, it’s how little she thinks she deserves praise as, in her eyes, it was just the right thing to do. I watched the full programme when it was on BBC & I’m not in the least bit ashamed to admit how much it made me cry.
What an amazing woman, & what a remarkable 16 year old Petra was.. not just to be a translator, but to take on all of that traumatic information & pass it on. I’m so glad they were reunited, & also reunited with some of the children they both helped from Bosnia. Beautiful story. 💗
The world needs more “Clare’s” and “Petra’s.” What beautiful women. Yes they truly were meant to come together. God was watching over those children and their moms.Petra means “rock” and she was definitely a rock for those families! God bless them both!
Funny how 'god' turned a blind eye to the kids and their parents murdered in the other car. Or the whole war thing that led to the refugees and separation from their parents. Very selective in when to watch, that 'god'.
@@JaneAustenAteMyCat I'm sorry if your country is having trouble with that. I live in the US where legal immigrants commit fewer violent and nonviolent crimes per capita than native born citizens, and illegal immigrants commit even fewer crimes per capita than even legal immigrants. Wherever you may live, I urge you to look for statistics on refugees' criminal activities objectively, looking for trends rather than singular events and acknowledging all of the innocent refugees who have done right by the country that has accepted them. Often, it's people fleeing violence and unrest that damn such atrocities the most. So many politicians and news outlets put attention-grabbing headlines and rage bait above reason and truth. They have made outsiders of all kinds out to be monsters, but we're all human and we're all deserving of safe homes where good people can prosper.
I think of the children being orphaned and lost now by war and violence and hope we can help by continuing the legacy of love and caring these two women exhibited.
I think this is the kind of passion and fervor we need to demonstrate during a refugee crisis. We shouldn’t just assume children are orphans. We should do all that we can to reunite. It reminds me of the recent-ish crisis in Haiti and how children there were being illegally transported to other countries for adoption without this same due diligence. PS. So many tears from this video. The humanity of it all.
My heart, I have no words. I cried because of the tragedy and for what the children saw. I cried because children were reunited with their Mother's. I had never heard of this before and I'm thankful I now have this knowledge.
They are all angels...I’m crying my eyes out here...So happy to know that there are still selfless people out there..our world will be a much better place only when people think less for themselves but more for others..❤️🙏
As someone who was served in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time, this woman and the young translator have my utmost respect. It wasn't a great place in the 90's, it was fairly sh*t for most people. This is a lovely little plus point against the hatred that was then.
A woman who has a beautiful soul and is full of kindness and generosity and selfless love. This act of kindness and humility should be second nature to ALL of us across the globe!✌🏼
This made me VERY emotional & cry: such good people helping those (humans = 'foreigners') who'd suffered terrible atrocities & helped kids said to be orphans find their mothers and prevented even more heatbreak and trauma; a HUGE thank you to the 2 amazing women here and to ALL who helped, from all of us.
Wow - I am crying. These women saved those moms and kids from a lifetime of sorrow and separation. Doing whatever your heart calls you to do is never a mistake.
This woman has a heart of gold and I am sure those kids will always be thankful to Petra also because thanks to her they when back home (to me a home is where your family is ) she really help them alot
Happiness out of horror. What lovely people to save and reunite those children. Petra and Clare and all the people of Elgin are wonderful humans. Wish I lived there ❤️
wow what kind blessed souls !!!! it sounds like something in a storybook it’s all just so happy and everything worked out perfectly !!!! God knows the exact opposite happens way too much.
