- "bought you a fur coat for christmas, a diamond ring...a big cadillac car, and everything"... I want that fur and ring and caddie too Ella!
Timeless stuff.
And dig that ridiculously cool es175d Joe's playing. He got that as a gift from a fan. Wow. 1974 Видеоклипы
I think there is something to be said for two older people (who probably are the best jazz guitarist and jazz vocalist who ever lived) who just sit there quietly and make fireworks happen. Don't need backup dancers, pyrotechnics, just a few chords and some slick lyrics. WOW!!!!!
U said what I always thought
I just so love this song. And Ella. And Joe.
my god, what a singer....what an amazing singer...what a remarkable guitar player....just perfection....thank you for posting.
Two Masters. Out of this world talent.
We got to see them perform this in concert in 1983 ! Then we got to meet her after the show!
She was the absolute sweetest lady ever!!!
Lucky u
Epic!!
Joe and Ella, like Django and Stefan - unmatched!!!
Best female voice ever!!!!
Thank God for her prolific work that there are still so many gems to be discovered and loved. Ella was it.
Unbelievable Vocals and guitar playing. It just does not get much better than this! A rare treasure that I am glad someone captured. Vocals like these are rare indeed!
Joe's guitar is sooo perfect for her voice. It's harmonically rich, yet so subtle and respectful of her voice.
This is still a banger
The acoustics in that room are steller
It just doesn't get any better than this!
JOEandEllla、Fantastic( ¨̮ )💕forever
Priceless. Best duo ever
Gold.
this is glorious
DEFINITELY the best singer ever!
Joe & Ella - love them both apart, love them both together
One of the best ever. I'm still blown away by her old version of Blue Skys. The band could barely keep up once she started to scat.
It's a real talent to accompany a jazz improv great seamlessly. Must be hard
As good as it gets.
Just found this in 2024!
Ella, tenía una voz maravillosa. Era Única.
What a pairing: Ella, Joe and a wonderful song by Don Redman and Andy Razaf. It really doesn't get more sublime than this!
Thank you for this video. It's always good to see Ella and good old Joe. They were both legends.
I wish Joe were still alive so he could profit on his youtube popularity. He was never this famous when he was alive. Amazing.
What a voice, what a woman
I love this song! The first time that I heard it Nnenna Freelon song it.
What a great combination of two of the greatest musicians to grace our planet.
ELLA FITZGERALD, TUDO O QUE VOCÊ SEMPRE FEZ ...SIMPLES INTELIGENTE, EMOCIONANTE, FANTÁSTICO, NOÓS AQUI DA PLANETA WEB RÁDIO E TV ON LINE E EU SILOEH SHEKIAH REPORTER, TEMOS SOMENTE GRATIDÃO POR CONHECER UM POUCO DE SUA OBRA. ESTUDA-LA MUITO...NOSSO CARINHO SEMPRE...

its like one of those songs u wished it played back when its friday night in christmas and u r alone in a bar drinking and thinking about her and everything that happened ...
It's so wonderful ! What a beautiful voice !
カッコいいです。ジョーパスおじさんの控えめギターが効いてます!
Such a star !!
Joe Pass, soberbio en la guitarra. Genio.
Joe's comping is masterful.
Both are legends in their own right. Musicians like that don't come around very often -- kind fo like finding a needle in a haystack.
Two departed legends.RIP.
Damn, that is SOUL.
IMHO_ Ella is one of the greatest.
❤❤
this voice the top ,Man woman or child Ella is the best.
wonderfull!
qué placer...... muchas gracias
Qué puedo decir...Magnifico.Muchas gracias.
Great!!
oh....my....sooo good
I'm going to play it again! Gee baby, ain't she good.
her early stuff will floor you never b another like ella
Absolutely agree with you.
Wow
Ella..you always good to me baby..
I'm going to try to do this with a girl singer. Note that Joe's timing is rock solid. Man that guy can play chords. And Ella's singing is so bluesy, melancholic. Great stuff.
muy bueno、いつ見てもたまらない、
wowwwwwwwww
Superb version, of course. Look for the version by Jimmy Rushing with Zoot Sims and Al Cohn. He was a great singer of Jazz and Blues, and was with Count Basie for about 20 years. He really deserves to be remembered. It's a fine version an obviously different, probably recorded at the end of the 50's but could be in the 60's. Haley Reinhart makes a fine job of it today although the recordings are a bit rough being done on handheld recorders, maybe even mobile phones.
@filmcomposition
I respectfully disagree with that. I'm with you that there were other incredible guitar contemporaries of Mr. Pass, and also some great ones who didn't get their due credit, but he DID forge an enduring style all his own. His modal methods of chordal melody established an entire school of jazz guitar. My teachers learned from him. He was uniquely brilliant in the way he conceived of and played standards
ENDLESS VOICING JOE HAD! I BOUGHT HIS IBANEZ SIGNATURE GUITAR HE IMPRESSED ME at a VERY YOUNG age WITH HIS TALENT. Took lessons from Ted Green just to get on that information road still at it lol
Ella, no more to say. Joe, same.
As blue as it gets !
This is a True Duet. Joe Pass can sure make that guitar sing. Thank You
Yea!
glorious
Moja młodość :)

Ken, Toronto
i wish she was my grandma
I wish she was my wife!
Love makes me treat you the way that I do
Baby, ain't I good to you
Nothing in this world too good for a girl so good and true
Whoa, baby, ain't I good to you
I bought you a fur coat for Christmas
And a diamond ring, yes I did
And a big Cadillac car, and everything
What makes me treat you the way that I do
It must be love baby
That's why I'm so good to you
I bought you a fur coat for Christmas
And a diamond ring,
And a great big Eldorado, and everything
Gee,
Baby ain't I good to you
I don't want to live in this world anymore.
does anyone have the sheetmusic of this version???
its not easy to find
It is in 'The New Real Book', A book every serious musician should have. I might have to buy a new copy soon as I'm close to wearing mine out.
I would have loved to hear Amy Winehouse belt this out
I think by Pablo CD
@TheCoughlm it has to have happened
yeah, jus throw money at the problem why not?
eh?
B.B.King with a wig
Es un insulto a Mercedes Sosa.
....no lo es.....pero fijate
...she shouldn't bye him furcoats for pagan festivals, that's the problem...
Honestly, this is the most annoying opinion of music ever. If you think music plateaued decades ago, you're horribly wrong and need to break out of your cocoon. Look around because great music is being made every day, but it's rarely found in the mainstream.
