    Gear inches comes from the old days of penny farthing. It is the equivalent diameter in inches of the front wheel of a penny farthing bicycle with the same equivalent gearing. So it comes down to how far the bike rolls per revolution of the pedals.

    Love the videos... keep em coming. Once you get those last two corners before the finish sorted you'll have a good chance for the podium. Maybe one of the other guys would be willing to ride with you and talk you thru those corners.

    6:10 Regarding feeling safer: Fixed gear riders, especially those racing are arguably some of the best bike handlers and well rounded riders in cycling. That’s been my experience at least.

    Get your gearing right. Use a narrow range in training and power data....true track frame gives better clearance than a road based "fixie"...You'll find your true power range with track events....points/scratch/sprints/unknown distance, et al

    You still have a surprised reaction when someone attacks, "WHOA or OH MY WHAT AN ATTACK". It's just an attack, be in a position to go with it. You were too far up and left the door open. So it's easy to get the jump on you and ride away. Like anyone who isn't a cat 4 would easily make a strong attack here.

    I know you're not asking for artistic advice but bro GoPro color mode looks like absolute ass for basically any outdoor cycling conditions.

    Did you feel undergeared at all? The last few track crits I’ve had to run 48x14 to compete. I felt the heavier gear was clutch for the headwind straightaway and attacks.

      Claudio is quite comfortable spinning and the lighter gear gets him punchy out of corners or to close a gap. I can't spin that high for that long so I lean to the higher gear too. But each to their strength.

    Of course you needed the $300 omniums haha, but if you love em and could afford them, that's what matters. You can get much cheaper track cranks that are plenty stiff and fast, don't let the 'fixie goons' fool you into thinking you need bling cranks.

    Do you recommend the left side power meter? I’m deciding should I just get left side or dual

      I have a dual sided Quarq that's $1200 and single sided Stages that's $600. They both do the job! With dual sided you can see your left and right power distribution but it's not a big deal to me.

      It's not uncommon for L/R power balance to be up to 5% difference (i.e. 45 left 55 right). It won't make a difference in terms of training as long as you're using the same meter but if the actual power number is worth the cost to you it MIGHT be worth getting dual.
      In the end you could find out your L/R distribution is exactly even and you spent that money for nothing 😂

    Fixed gear racing on a course with rocks doesn't sound safe but I've never raced fixed gear so I wouldn't know lol

      Super doable with 30c tires on honestly makes it to lock the bike up, the secret of fixed gears is that its intuitive like riding a bike

      It's $500 for new Stages crank arm here in Oregon.
