It may seem like a modern company but HSBC's roots as Midland Bank make it the longest held business at this stretch of Ilford High Road. Despite its ownership changes, the Superdrug brand has now passed the 40-year mark at this premises, as has Clarks shoe shop - evidencing that not all national retail is troubled and flirting with wipeout just yet.

In that old Burton after it closed down they removed the false wall to see the original wall of Woolworths tiles. They were spray painted and could see the remains of the removed original staircase. 1985 was sadly the time I left Ilford but will always cherish my childhood.

@@Dd-gamechanger well I went to the store last year 1 Sunday and wanted to see inside. As it was a pop up shop. If you go past look through windows on the right.
