Motortube Great Video I think it's awesome that your M3 Competition now has a JB4 tuner and I can't wait to see some racing content to see how much faster she is
jb4 isn’t a tune it just tricks your ecu into running more boost. basically just a boost modulator. at the end of the day you’ll still need a tune. jb4 vs a real tune is a complete night and day difference. still a sick car 💯
And running more boost requires a multitude of signal interceptions to be-dare I say: tuned. It's a pre-written replacement ECU in a sense-and a legit tune in my opinion too despite the program running on its 'cloud server' about 1 meter of insulated copper away.
@@G80tommyit's problem with the low end torque is due to short piston throw and a relatively low compression ratio. In layman's terms this is an engine which is designed to derive it's power from forced induction and high redlines.... It literally just needs the partial hybrid system seen in the B48/58 models and that car will be ZOOMING off the line and all the way through the power band.

Great content bro. But some information needs to be cleared up. The dealer can 100% tell that you’ve had a JB4 plugged in, even if you remove it. The computers on the car will show that factory boost limits have been exceeded. All dealers are different, and some won’t care about the JB4. But be advised it can still give them a reason to void your warranty if they chose to do so.
Been owning and modding BMW's since 2013, I laugh at the warranty questions when it comes to the JB4. JB4 is a piggy back, plug and play tune, It's not going to void any warranty at any dealership. If you're worried about blowing up your engine, it ain't happening with a JB4. Worry about voiding your warranty if you flash tune your car; a bad flash can hurt the engine and BMW will definitely see that even if you flash it back to stock parameters.
@@franklinwatson7767 if you really believe that, call some BMW dealers and ask them about it. Yes, some dealers MIGHT be more lenient with a piggy back over an unlocked DME with a custom tune, but the JB4 is still a voidable modification. Anytime You’re demanding MORE of the engine over the factory tune, your warranty can be in jeopardy. All the dealer needs to do is prove the higher output caused by the light back was related to the warranty claim, and you’re done. Naturally, if anyone is worried about a warranty, they shouldn’t modify the car in the first place. But don’t be mislead. A JB4 can void your warranty.

Absolutely, and the reason is for internal motor work, ie rods, pistons, blown gasket etc (Big money items). if you got a bad sensor, plug wires go bad, or coolant leak from an intercooler and you just happen to have a JB4 on a brand-new BMW, any dealership will replace and fix that sensor, plug or intercooler via warranty, despite a piggyback! *Your warranty is still voided* Over boosting leaves behind many physical and software traces, including considerably increased blow by on PCV and high crankcase pressures, and the ECU still stores the logs of you running high boost to name a few.. also the fact you have downpipes is an auto warranty void.
Was literally thinking about this today and how a recent history of engine performance parameters could probably be pulled from the ECU as part of warranty investigations. And ya, that output voltage going from the MAP sensor (among other voltage parameters) is going to totally squeak on us 🤐😬 we're not getting away with that
If you are dumb enough to think that JB4 won't void your warranty... lol you think if something breaks BMW can't go in and see that the car was running outside of stock parameters? Like they can't access the ECU,TCU, all the different computers in the car. They will know🤡🤡🤡
