5:50 is very frustrating how elder toguro has a mediocre tier: he only has short distance and medium distance attacks. He has not a single long distance attack.
Your only dodging and blocking options cost a turn so you can't do them while attacking, and they're still partly luck-based. You can jump to put yourself out of range for melee attacks, and otherwise have some moves while holding back that block or increase your dodge rate for certain attacks. Since you'll be attacking most of the time, you have better odds of your attack succeeding depending on how full the attack gauge is and if you attack first. So while you can't meaningfully control dodging, you can control accuracy based on quick draws, as well as predicting the opponent's move to interrupt or reflect them. Some characters also have buffs that indirectly raise their dodge rate.
Dodge/Blocking option depends on three factors: How fast you anticipate your enemy's action (Activating the dodge/Block before your adversary does their attack), how much you filled the action bar and, lastly, random RPG probabilities that are affected by the previous two factors. I hate that the luck part is still strong after you take in mind the two first elements but it can make you have control of the fight with some reflex, practice and luck.

Esse jogo é muito bom, mesmo sendo totalmente desbalanceado. Muito divertido mesmo.
