Its amazing to look back and notice how much music was a part of EVERYTHING. Even some of the most mundane everyday items had an entire orchestrated song and dance number attatched to it, everything had its own theme. Even deoderant had its own devoted 30 second jingle. Never noticed it growing up, but its so obvious now why Gen X was so obsessed with music. It was in everything, all around us, all the time. Wow.
I was just telling my son this when he asked how it was for me growing up in the 80’s. Music was everywhere. We were the generation of Friday Night Videos/MTV. Music was everywhere. Even in the commercials. 🎼🎸🎹🎧
Music was also a part of my Generation as well. The 90s and the early 2000s had a lot of music right next to Animated series. If your child is in their early to middle 20's they'll understand.
The beginning rice krispies ad, I've never seen a kid so happy eating cereal. I bet the directer kept yelling, 'BE HAPPIER, ACT LIKE THE CEREAL IS LIFE'!!!
I had an Etch-A-Sketch Animator but at no time was I as goofy as the kid as at 1:24! Rio Blast is pretty badass! Legions of Power was just as motorized as Capsela but they didn't go on and on about it! Cool to see the Galaxy Rangers end credits but I remember the "Rangers Are Forever" end theme better. It was on at 4:30 on WPIX in New York!
I still get the monster cereals every October. I would literally save my allowance and do extra chores for money just to get the cereals. And for a treat my mom would always buy extra boxes for me after Halloween when they’d go on sale. It’s my treat to myself that’s remained consistent throughout my childhood and into adulthood.
1:00 - I got an Animator for Christmas that year, and for the life of me, I could not figure out how to use that thing. I could never get any drawings or animations to work.
Galaxy Rangers-why oh way hasnt there been a live action adaptation of this..(for some reason im picturing Jason Statham as Shane,Jamie Foxx as Doc,Sophie Turner as Nico and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau as Zach Fox Count Chocula/Frankenberry-nowadays those cereals taste like theyre made with wax lips :( Legions Of Power-liked that early CGI in both these ads and on Galaxy Rangers Capsela-we heard you the first time Bravestarr-that episode"The Price" is forever etched into my memory Transformers Sharktacons-glad that these guys were left untouched by the M.Bay films
Galaxy Rangers, He-Man's Deputy Rio Blast, and Bravestarr...I guess 1986 was the year of the Sci-Fi Cowboys. Still, the Galaxy Rangers had amazing music for an 80s cartoon, as evidenced at 17:17. Although personally, I preferred the other ending theme from the show, Rangers Are Forever. ruclips.net/video/IvWtI4NZjTI/видео.html
A lot of it has to do with how easy money was to get as a toy company. Now you have to compete with Internet videos, video games, etc. If you want a hit toy, it needs to integrate with other media formats to keep kids engaged or they will just drift off to the other dozen things they can do when not at school.
The tape these are from had multiple episodes of Galaxy Rangers recorded over several days, possibly even several weeks. I've kind of given up trying to accurately date such recordings like this, but the "An American Tail" ads do give a general timeframe of mid-late November.
80sCommercialVault can confirm! An American Tail is the first movie I can remember seeing in the theater, and it was very near my fourth birthday, which was in early December 1986. Thank you for posting these! They always bring back great memories!
I have some of those WWF Wrestling Superstars figures. The commercial shows the boys playing with them, but they're really not that good for playing with, being that their heads, arms and legs don't move and they're just stuck in whatever pose they were designed with. Those figures are more for standing up and putting on display than anything else. Bad move on the part of LJN for making them without any moving body parts, but hey, what do you expect from a bunch of Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts?
That's pretty weird that they were just statues with no articulation...even the Starting Lineup figures that Kenner made back then had movement at the arms and neck.
The only decade I know and love. Nothing will replace it. Just please take back to the past and just leave me. #80srock

Agreed! Proud Gen Xer right here. Luckily, I have passed on my love of music to my Millennial Children who are 24 and 25 now. 😃

Got to love June Foray
voice as the Gypsies in the Froot Loops
commercial.
86....the year of transformable toys, reconnecting toys and the start of the laser toys that would last through 87.
I missed my time the 80s and 80s commercials
The beginning rice krispies ad, I've never seen a kid so happy eating cereal. I bet the directer kept yelling, 'BE HAPPIER, ACT LIKE THE CEREAL IS LIFE'!!!
That's really cool that DJ from Full House that girl from Small Wonder and Alan from Punky Brewster did an Alf commercial!
Yo know 80s tv good
I miss the good old days
Three sitcom kids all in one Alf commercial.
I had an Etch-A-Sketch Animator but at no time was I as goofy as the kid as at 1:24!

“American Tale” and “American Tale: Fievel Goes West” are still some of my favorite kids films.
3:20. I still have my Alf. He's sitting right here :D

More great fun ads!

My cousins had it and I remember it was beyond my abilities times 1000!
You definitely needed to read the instructions - they not only explained the buttons but there were also button combinations that did certain things.
Guys
Rio Blast had a sweet mustache.
Damn, back when Fruit Loops only had 3 colors.
The chewing gum companies wanted to get to the kids first before the tobacco companies did.
Galaxy Rangers-why oh way hasnt there been a live action adaptation of this..(for some reason im picturing Jason Statham as Shane,Jamie Foxx as Doc,Sophie Turner as Nico and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau as Zach Fox
Count Chocula/Frankenberry-nowadays those cereals taste like theyre made with wax lips :(
Legions Of Power-liked that early CGI in both these ads and on Galaxy Rangers
Capsela-we heard you the first time
Bravestarr-that episode"The Price" is forever etched into my memory
Transformers Sharktacons-glad that these guys were left untouched by the M.Bay films
wow petster and capsela I'd forgotten about til this video! also majorette cars were one of my favorites to collect back in the day!
I didn't know the Etch-A-Sketch Animator was out in 1986, or I just wasn't interested in it until a year later. I still have mine.

I almost included that credit song too but the video was getting long. But yes, that song is awesome.
Fort he longest time i had thought that was Night Ranger singing that one
Honestly, if they ever released a longer version of Rangers Are Forever, I would buy that song in a heartbeat. It has such a great 80s rock feel.
LOL @ Wrinkles
Majokit makes me think of that episode of ‘Rugrats’ where Tommy stays at Chuckie’s house and he jacks up Chuckie’s play town
The best toys ever was in the late 80s and early 90s. Only thing that wins these days are toy drones.

This would have been sometime within the week of November 21st, 1986

Yep, these would have been recorded on weekday mornings/afternoons or whenever it aired on this station.

That cat toy at the start is hilarious. Why have a real one when you can that?
Those Sylvanian toys are worth boat-loads of money these days.
I think I missed it. Is Capsela motorized?

26. I'm surprise. They never made a cartoon of them!
‘Extendar, because what little boy doesn’t want to extend?’
Check out ‘The Toys that Made Us’ on Netflix if you haven’t, the He-Man ep is great.
I've seen that documentary it was good the Barbie one was good too!
“I’ll use my night-vision helmet!”
But it’s daylight...
Taste the claw!
*A H H H H H H H H H H H H!*
I re-watched that a dozen times
@@darkdemigod I think I'm at 25 or so right now. That scream is the best.
I’m not saying a thing about Petster even though there’s so much to say. Wow.
hahahaha
It made some lonely housewife very happy!
Interesting how many of the MOTU villain figures ended up being the bad guys on She-Ra.
Sadly,Filmation had stopped producing He-Man by that time,so they used the villains on She-Ra.
Wish I had Nerf golf.
