I forgot to mention, there were two music videos shown in this broadcast that I would have liked to include, but decided not to due to concerns over copyright. These are already on youtube so I will link to them. The first one is "Eat It" (Japanese Version): ruclips.net/video/hnUOu1dtBuk/видео.html The second is: 1-800 by Dog Police: ruclips.net/video/v4zjHCbHVA0/видео.html (Which is all about 1-800 advertisements!)
man I forgot about ALTv, lol! gotta love those classic movie trailers, though. Also I definitely remember the civil war chess set ads they were on all the time back then!
As a kid we only got MusiquePlus in Quebec, but Weird Al still went there and did his own segments and bumpers for them for AlTV too, all in a fun mix of English and French. Such a rad guy, always there to put the work in.
1986 was a great year. I miss these AL TV segments that were always really funny. I think Al could have carried his own network, but at least now he does have a channel on RUclips.
I could always remember the bald lady from that PSA saying "they're loaded with cholesterol!", but I could not remember where I saw it. Over 30 years later, I finally see it again. Thank you!
Blueberry Newtons were a thing? Dang! Between them, all the legendary movies and the most 80s piece of furniture you will ever see in The Stackables, '85 was a great year!
- I still feel that Weird Al with long hair, no mustache, no glasses > Weird Al with short hair, mustache, and glasses. - Dang, those Shine Free models were cute.
Fruit Chewy Newton-sounds like that could be the name of a character on Al TV Take A Bite Out Of Crime-nowadays that lady would be a internet meme-named"Bike Betty" or something Sun Country Cooler-i personally preferred California Cooler over both this and Bartles & James
Andie MacDowell was basically an unknown actress in 1985 with only one screen credit prior to this. She wouldn’t be credited in trailers. She also only has a small supporting part in “St Elmo’s Fire”.
There are no two movies that say “1985” more than Back to the Future and St. Elmo’s Fire. Also, the Civil War Chess Set: $17.50 for each piece???? They were made out of pewter not solid gold!
Yeah I was just doing the math and $560 ($1,327.52 in 2019 dollars) plus 2 years and 8 months to get the whole set! For that price and time they should have been gold pieces.

"He who is sick of Weird Al Yankovic is sick of life". - Homer Simpson
11. Still, decades later. One of the best trilogy movies of all time!
7.Great movie!
13. All star cast movie ! Pretty cool!

I was watching these Al TV episodes on RUclips couple weeks back.
I've wanted those Blueberry Newton's for over 3 decades now
Yes...more MTV commercials
Weird Al is the greatest!
This is pure gold
Weird Al, Back to the Future and Goonies...85 had it going for entertainment.
Weird Al satirizing MTV’s ads and bumpers with his ALTV failed rocket launch intro cracked me up.
"the civil war chess set enhances your life" somehow i feel that may be an exaggeration
People need to learn some history
4:10 was seen in the "Dare to be Stupid" music video when Al sings "You can be a coffee achiever...".
That bumper segment is perfectly Weird Al. The ad
campaign itself is just odd and weird.
Back to the Future is important to me, because that's the movie that was currently highest grossing at the box office the week I was born.
I could always remember the bald lady from that PSA saying "they're loaded with cholesterol!", but I could not remember where I saw it. Over 30 years later, I finally see it again. Thank you!

DanZero77 the Newtons were actually pretty delicious. I guess maybe they had to eventually shorten the line of flavors due to lack of sales.
i want more mtv!
The Goonies, now playing at a theater near you !
Weird Al even had ALTV in 1997!
Rockville Maryland for McGruff the Crime Dog? It was Scruff McGruff Chicago, Illinois 60652 for as long as I can remember.
Deborah Foreman from Valley Girl @8:59
Six days before LIve Aid
- I still feel that
Weird Al with long hair, no mustache, no glasses > Weird Al with short hair, mustache, and glasses.
- Dang, those Shine Free models were cute.
I kinda still want those Stackables
Someone needs to report on that old lady for stealing Zack Morris’s portable phone!
🎶Zack Morris is trrrraaash🎶
It seems like that old lady isn’t so much preventing crime than reporting a crime in progress. That’s why there’s a Tattle-Tale Unit.
Fruit Chewy Newton-sounds like that could be the name of a character on Al TV
Take A Bite Out Of Crime-nowadays that lady would be a internet meme-named"Bike Betty" or something
Sun Country Cooler-i personally preferred California Cooler over both this and Bartles & James
Wtf I've never seen st elmos fire, Andy McDowell is uncredited in the clip but bow I wanna see it.
Imagine if rdj was.there instead of rob lowe lol
