I'll never understand why this band isn't so much bigger and more renowned than they are. It boggles the mind.

The fact that this song never hit Billboard top makes me lose faith in humanity.

Billboard and stuff is just for money. Opeth and other Rock bands deserve way more than hitting Billboard top. Its all just coorporate crap.

Just one of those songs which has everything perfect. The voice, the lyrics, the ambience, the bass, the drums, the acoustic guitar, the electric guitar, the keyboard, the phrasings, the arrangements, the overall emotion.....i mean, its an absolute masterpiece!

When you mentioned King`s X I jumped in my chair. Been in love with them for 20 years or so.
Started listening to Opeth by chance about a year or two back. First I fell in love with Faith in others and after a while the growls grew on me. Now a love almost every song Opeth have done. Cannot get enough of them.

What an epic rock song His vocals, his guitar style and expertise and a kick ass organ solo!! Prog metal artists are still using the same chords, but all of the different tunings provide such a different tapestry for vocals and solos to breathe. I could listen to this dude sing the phonebook, and it would be amazing.

For me this may be an Opeth masterpiece ... without a doubt one of my favorite songs, it has many incredible guitar solos, even keyboards, which even give themselves the luxury of disharmonizing the final arpeggio on acoustic guitar, and still , it still sounds beautiful hahahahaha

@@sonicallydisruptive Oh, Still Life, the one Godhead's Lament is from, is a concept album. Also, if you feel like branching out a little, could you try Ne Obliviscaris at some point? They are a bit similar to Opeth, but have two singers, one that does clean vocals(and plays violin) and one that growls. I would suggest Eyrie, or Painters of the Tempest pt 2, Triptych Lux as a starting point.

But, watershed deals with grief, loss, depression and anxiety and even suicide
I read someone else's comment on the laugh and the detuning of the guitars being a metaphor to going insane after carrying all the burden and sorrow for too long

The solo coming out of your right speaker is Mikael åkerfeldt, vocalist and Rythm guitar, he is a fantastic solo guitarist though. The other guy is Fredrik Åkesson on lead guitar. Welcome to the world of Opeth. :D If you like the the slower stuff aswell i can recommend "Face in the snow" Bonus track from the Heritage album. ruclips.net/video/j0TsSfSdpSQ/видео.html
