OK, got some. Hooked up two 7 foot cables. I hated them right away. I played my test songs for an hour. Then two, three. If someone says the cables need to burn in, I'm gonna grab them by the thro..... they do sound better. Shielded cables, suddenly it's clear, very clear. I'm missing something, maybe it's bad cables. These may very well be worth the money. Interesting, transparent is the only way I can describe them. 9 out of 10, they are getting better, the longer I listen.
Since I based my decision to buy this cable mostly on this video (and other forum threads), I thought i'll warn people who listen to classical music. I have to total different high quality systems (chord qutest, dynnaudio and van medevoorts Mit interlinks). On both systems the sound was clear and detailed. BUT, violins and flutes were impossible to listen to: harsh, not a natural sound. my previous MIT Shotgun speaker cable sounded much better. however, rock and sounded quite good: quick solid bass, bodied tone's from guitars etc this explains why people are enthusiastic about this cable, but they just don't happen to listen to handel:) So I'd warn those who listen to classical music, really, don't buy this cable.
Hi Tharbamar, much obliged if you do a video explaining the nuanced sonic differences you hear between your DIY Mogami W3084 and Canare 4S11 speaker cables.
Hi, I did in comment in one of my cable video but don't remember which video, so W3804 is slightly more transparent, 4S11 is a bit better midrange in my system, the rest is pretty much comparable, thanks
Thanks for the video! I noticed that in an older video you preferred Canare (4s11) over Mogami (W3104). In this more recent video, Mogami (W3082) is your preferred option. I'm trying to learn a bit about these cables. Could you explain why your preference changed? I imagine these Mogami models (W3104 x W3082) have some differences and now you find the latter even better than the Canare (4s11)?
Hi, I use them all in the different systems and also change the cables depending on what I’m paring then with, it’s all about synergy for me, so I have like 8 different pairs of cables, thanks
@@Tharbamari would like to follow up on what Felipencl asked you. I would like to build one pair on my own. Money in the price range doesn't matter that much, they are all ok. I have the Wharfedale Evo 4.4 speaker and indeal would be a bi-wiring cable.
Thank you for great videos. Which amplifiers speakers switch box (2 amps into 2 sets of speakers) can support A /B testing without deteriorating or changing the sound?
Hi Tharbamar, Big fan here. I really like your work. I made several pairs of speaker cables with CANARE 4S11, after watching your video last year. I really like them. In your opinion would Mogami W3082 be a step up from C4S11?
Thank you for the great video. I am kind of confused about which cable to choose the one in this video or the Mogami W3104 that you made in the previous one. Which one do you recommend most from your experience?
I'll try again. In the video, to connect you use 1 cable divided into 2 pins "+" and "-" (central and screen). I want to use 2 separate cables (1 pair of a whole cable) for each acoustic unit when connecting. Therefore, I asked for advice if I put together the central core and the screen (by increasing the cross-section) in each separate cable, will it be normal for sound?!
That won’t be great idea if you want most clear sound, according to Mogami having coaxial conductors is main benefit of it but if you’re worried about the size, this cable is highly capable of handling high current bridge monoblocks driving to maximum load without any problems, I’ve seen it many times.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I was thinking of building a AQ Rocket 44 as I had some AQ 500 Bananas. Would your opinion be that Mogami 3082 is better than Rocket 44? Does soldering them make a difference? Also have you tried the Mogami 2804 speaker cable? I found these very transparent and revealing.
Can you use one W3082 wire for Red and another for Black with the same results? I understand you would be using twice as much speaker wire. Would this work and if so, would the shielding float on both ends or would you combine with the center strand to make a larger gauge wire? Thank you! and GO GIANTS!!
I very like my sound of my system with Mogami W3104 cables especially the bass is perfect. How is the bass of your system with the W3082 compared to the W3104? Thanks!
Hi Tharbamar. I have FocalAria 906 . I was thinking to use mogami 3103 or canare 4s11 before this video. Do you think 3082 would be better for Aria ? Wich one has better bass and calm highs?
I’m using Canare 4s11 with my 906’s and they sound amazing! I was using Amazon 12 gauge stuff before.. I will be trying the Mogami 3082 for fun but very happy with my Canare wires. It’s more for fun at this point. In my area both Canare and mogami are a few dollars per foot so why not try both!
Hi, here's a question from those of us that lack the time or skill to build the cable. Recently, I purchased a set of the World's Best Cables made with Mogami 3082 Wire & Eminence Gold Plated Banana Plugs. They come in equal-length pairs, but for my use, equal-length worked for my need. If you've tried them, do you think their sound quality approximates what you've built?
I add a question, I read and see renowned reviewers recommending cable thickness tables which, to avoid the blanket or thick veil phenomenon, the cable sections are quite small and instead if I look at the section of the most expensive and noble cables they are always important sections. The question is which is the right section? clear that it also depends on the length but are the tables that are always equivalent to all the professionals in the sector who recommend cables with a smaller section or those important sections of the Top cables reliable? many thanks to anyone who can help me. good continuation
Thickness is nothing to do open sound, thickness and veil sound is more to do with geometry of cables, resistance and capacitance. This cable is open and realistic than anything, I think I clearly commented on that regard. There is no right or wrong you have to try to see if that is suitable for your setup.
Hello Tharbarmar, can you recommend decent XLR cables for the price? You mentioned that XLR sounds better than RCAs and I am in search of good XLR cables. Thank you!
1) The 3 "probably" references in the final half minute of the video may (or may not) have impacted on viewer perception. 2) If the cable links the amp at location "A" and speakers at locations "B" and "C", are the environments between A⇉B and A⇉C relevant? For example, room lighting, modem, television, PC, HVAC, refrigerator behind adjacent wall? If so, is speaker cable construction capable of mitigating issues? 3) If in a non-scientific, subjective listening test, a listener identifies a enormous difference in performance between cheap and expensive cables, is that perception capable of justifying the additiinal expenditure? Cheers.
Hi, thanks for the video. Searhing for this Mogami cable, I came across Mogami 2804 - almost 10 times more expensive, claiming to use PCOCC coper! Do you have any experience with this cable? Is it worth of price?
Did you also try to make jumpers using 3082 with shield as negative conductor? Using just the core conductor negates the effect of draining noise but maybe it doesn’t matter with such a short cable. Thanks
Thanks for this video but I fail to see how you've utilized the "shield" for its intended purpose. You've simply made a pair of two different gauge wires with no shield. If it were a proper shielded cable, there would be a twin core in the middle and metal wrap around them. The outer metal wrap would be connected to an earth (so that any noise induced into the cable is grounded). If you ran this cable next to any noisy power supplies you would have a noisy cable.
Seems like you don’t know how coaxial speaker cables cable works, first and foremost signal and shield is same gauge and It can go through most noisy environments without getting any interference, Shield and return is the same while shielding signal cable from noises. AND this is the most quiet speaker cable you’ll ever get.
Thicker cables are pointless unless you are using drawing massive amounts of current, which in the case of a speaker you aren't, the voice coil in your biggest speaker is about the thickness of cable you can get away with, unless you are running the system flat out for hours on end. Please don't reply with filters on speakers, caps etc requiring more current as the amount they use is small.. Look at the mains cable on the back of your amp, it's designed to be able to handle a hell of a lot more current than it can draw. Amps are about 50% efficient so they use twice what they put out. So that's half the thickness of the mains cable, but 2 channels a quarter the thickness cable for each side. That's way more than enough for running 24/7 full blast without getting warm
When finding to your excellent site I built speaker cable using Mogadishu 3104. Are these new cable better, with all the subjective included. Thx in advance.
Thank you for your videos! I built a Mogami a 5 foot 3103 cable from your 3104 video. Now I'd love to make W3082 cables. What is the maximum run you'd recommend for the W3082 since they're only 14 gauge? Or is that not something to worry about?
I have 15 foot W3082 cables in my rig, no issues that I can hear or tell. I'm running both Magnepan and Zu's, so both spectrums in regards to sensitivity.
How good is this cable in EMI rejection compared to Star-quad cables? Consider Mogami W3082 or 2972 star-quad. My speakers are near the TV and wifi router so it's important for me...Thank you
What wire did you use to make those jumpers on your speakers? And how does it(w3082) compare to the Mogami W3104 cable? By the way , I finished making both pairs of Mogami w3104 with Viborg copper Banana connectors and Canare 4S11 with CMC SWISS Pure Copper Bananas that are more of the style of the Audioquest's and Parts Express type of banana. I haven't listened to the Canare's yet but the Mogami surprised me, really surprised me as I replaced my Kimber 8tc with WBT expanding bananas($55.00 * 8 of them). The sound transformed my ATC's, I was shocked. Now I want to redo the ends of the Kimber's; I'm wondering if I screwed up the connections. But they're a pain in the ass to strip all those ends so I purchased a German made Knipex automatic stripper to hopefully simplify the job. At this point I might go ahead and pick up some w3082.
Wait till you try RCA interconnects made with Mogami 2549 microphone cable. One wire hot, one wire return, with the shield connected only at the source. Superb neutrality and transparency. Total cost for a 1-meter pair, including Rean Neutric connectors is less than $15. They smoke my $375 Tara Labs RSC Prime interconnects.
@@ChicagoRob2 Now those Neutrik connectors are brass. Have you thought of using something with copper contacts like WBT WBT 0144 Gold Plated Locking RCA Plug? They're inexpensive enough but my concern is all the additional mass of the metal.
@@mortlach186All of my Neutrics are copper-based, as I stock-piled them years ago. I’ve built 2549 interconnects with WBT, Audioquest, Nakamichi, and Switchcraft connectors. All sound great and I would say the copper-base, gold-plated Switchcraft are probably the best bang for the buck.
How do you compare your Mogomi w3104 cable to this Mogomi w3082 cable? I followed both of your videos and made both of them, and I’m now sure I can tell the difference. What do you heard differently in them? Which do you now think is the best one?
Another great video. Thanks. Quick question, I'm undecided which speaker cables to go with w3104, w3802 and carnare 4s11. Do you have any recommendations. Thanks
I’m guessing you cant make a jumper out of this cable right? I see WBC only sells the canare 4S11 jumper and not the Mogami 3802. So if make the mogami cable using it as a speaker cable and the Canare jumper would it pose any issue getting the best out of the Mogami speaker cable? I’m looking for the highest resolution which I know Mogami has and not Canare
It should not have any problem but W3082 is best jumper I’ve ever used, I replaced all my OCC jumpers with it because nothing is better than shielded cable jumpers.
Do you think could also make RCA interconnect with this 3802 cable or only recommend for speaker use? Maybe you recommend different cable for RCA interconnects? Thank you for this video and all of your other ones 😁👍
Anyone in here read the article about an older asain guy that builds his own cabling/wiring & builds his own crossovers to reveal the sound the studios actually recorded & is meant to be heard????
and when you pull apart a loudspeaker--- even a very expensive one they use normal size, ordinary old speaker wire from connection point to speaker terminals--- see how silly this overkill of speaker cables is
Absolutely the best and most sensible comment here. Manufacturers are looking to cut costs, so wire caps and such are picked as long as they do the job. No cable has sound its a piece of copper wire. That's it the rest is audio jewellery.
Resolution has got to be one the silliest marketing terms i have ever heard for stranded copper conductors. Are you gaining "ear pixels" by spending more money? Theres snr and attentuation for sure, but what the hell does resolution even mean if not referring to bitrate or sampling frequency?
Hello, thank you for this video... I know that it is 2 conductor but can you bi-wire with Mogami 3082? I was planning on assembling a set of bi-wire speaker cables with Mogami 2972 (4 conductors). Thanks in advance for responding.

@@Tharbamar no sir, I'm asking about the entire Grey-colored PET expandable sheath you put on the 3082. Guess they come covered with stock black PVC covering.
Why i never see people soldering the banana plug with the cable ? Like with silver soldering or something. Is this wrong ? Hifi guys take great care to make all the cable correctly but at the very end, the connector (maybe the more important piece of the cable) is just screwed to the cable. As an electronic engineer, i don't understand...
that was the first thing I noticed here too. I soldered my cable in the copper bananaplug. There is no better connection. The contact between the screw and cable must be worse.
Soldering is bad when cables need to rebuild it, as I review many speakers and audio components all cables break doesn’t matter who made them, if I need to solder I do cold solder. No solder is better silver or not.
This know-nothing audiohead has made and used pure stranded copper wire since the vinyl bug bit some 50 years ago...SFSG. I'm still using them, the only thing I've done is make them shorter and replace the connectors, twice. Spend all that $$$ bragging rights only. DYI it.
What do you know shows in your comment. Sincerely no disrespect to you if you're elderly person but I can see in your comment is 50 years of brain fog.
These will not work for building a tonearm cable. The capacitance is 4.5 times greater (77pf/ft) per foot (or meter) than Belden RF wire (RG-59). Probably fine for interconnects and maybe MC carts. Definitely not for MM or carts.
And you missed the part where the cable 'sounds', coz I guarantee you'd not be able to discern a coat hanger from a silver monocrystal in a properly controlled test. It can be best anything, but 'sounding' is not in that list.
Frequency response tests were ran between this cable and cheap amazon equivalent per-metre stock and there was zero difference in frequency response between the two. However, people will continue to buy this because of the name brand association and claim that they can hear the difference. I laugh every time.
Frequency response of cable is nothing to do with sound quality you have to measure Capacitance and Resistance to know how good the cable is, rather surprise by the people who can’t hear the difference.
@@Tharbamar capacitance quite literally changes the frequency response of the cable by rolling off the high-end. The frequency response is what will determine if two things sound different as it's just a measurement of the relative gain of each frequency over the human hearing domain. I'm starting to get the idea you don't fully know what you're talking about, and that has me questioning why you're making RUclips videos telling people what to buy... Do you have any industry experience? Any actual training in live sound or studio engineering?
@@basspuppy133 It is easy to hear the difference in my setup, even my mother heard the difference, Mica OFC vs W3082. The OFC sounded very veiled, and it was not subtle. The Mogami's, when put back in the chain lit the room up. Again, not a subtle difference. You need to get out more, maybe listen to some music, put the oscilloscope away.
Love your informational videos, can't wait to build me a home theater setup. But I have a question I hope you could give me your opinion on, do you think these cables along with the likes of the 4S11 or W3102 would work well for car audio as well? I also recently got a house so now I can start piecing a home setup in time as well. Hope to get some input, keep up the informative videos.👍

@@Tharbamarcan you please share your observed sound difference/s between canare 4s11 vs mogami?
Thank you for great videos.
Which amplifiers speakers switch box (2 amps into 2 sets of speakers) can support A /B testing without deteriorating or changing the sound?
Douk Audio VU3 will be very useful for your needs.
Hi Tharbamar, are the AudioQuest banana plugs you used made of pure copper or brass? Do brass banana plugs affect sound?
Hi, AQ plugs are made of beryllium copper alloy, yes brass can make quite different in my system.
Hi Tharbamar,
Big fan here. I really like your work. I made several pairs of speaker cables with CANARE 4S11, after watching your video last year. I really like them. In your opinion would Mogami W3082 be a step up from C4S11?
Hi Aleks, W3082 will brings out a bit more clarity and micro details, thank you
Thank you
Thank you for the great video.
Hi, wanted to know your opinion on attaching ferrite rings on speaker cables.
Hi, it should help to reduce interference if that is you’re experiencing but you have to attach it at one side only either - or + side by the speaker.
@@Tharbamar Thanks!
Hi Tharmabar, do you recommend doing the speakers jumpers with the same w3082 wire? do you have any video on how to make speaker jumpers? thank you
Yes W3082 is what I use, I do not have how to video for it thou, thanks

W3082 for me, thanks
I very like my sound of my system with Mogami W3104 cables especially the bass is perfect. How is the bass of your system with the W3082 compared to the W3104?
Thanks!
I'll give it a try. I ordered the w3082 cable.
I've finished the cable. First impression: I agree with you it's very good cable. Thanks for the recommendation.
Hi Tharbamar.
I have FocalAria 906 . I was thinking to use mogami 3103 or canare 4s11 before this video.
Do you think 3082 would be better for Aria ? Wich one has better bass and calm highs?
Which one you choose? I have focal aria 906 too
I’m using Canare 4s11 with my 906’s and they sound amazing! I was using Amazon 12 gauge stuff before.. I will be trying the Mogami 3082 for fun but very happy with my Canare wires. It’s more for fun at this point. In my area both Canare and mogami are a few dollars per foot so why not try both!
Hi. If use rhodium coated Banana plug will it sound good? Or gold coated?
Hi, here's a question from those of us that lack the time or skill to build the cable. Recently, I purchased a set of the World's Best Cables made with Mogami 3082 Wire & Eminence Gold Plated Banana Plugs. They come in equal-length pairs, but for my use, equal-length worked for my need. If you've tried them, do you think their sound quality approximates what you've built?
Hi, It should be the same sound quality.
Very interesting comments... How does the W3082 compare to the Belden 9497?
More open and better bass quality in my system.
Thank you!
Try Mogami W2549 or Canare L-E6S based XLR cables are great buy for the price and quality.
@@Tharbamar just purchased Mogami @2539 to connect the DAC and I'm loving it. Thank you Tharbamar!
Yes, it is very good cable but don’t let the price fool you, W3082 is better cable in performance.
If you are a live performer , tone characteristics take a backseat to RELIABLY !
Did you also try to make jumpers using 3082 with shield as negative conductor? Using just the core conductor negates the effect of draining noise but maybe it doesn’t matter with such a short cable.
Thanks
Yes I’m using 3082 as shielded jumper wires for my speakers, it’s great improvement over any other type of cable including OCC cables.
Quick question on the joint protection, I see them on eBay thx. Does the blue casing screw away from the chrome part or do you break it off some how?
You can twist it to remove the chrome part.
I think I asked you this question before. Do you make the cables for sale? If yes, how can I purchase them?
I do not sell them, thanks
Hi Tharbamar what do you think if I use these w3082 as a double barrel shoutgun speaker cable, will it sound better?
I have not tried it yet to give you the right information.
Thanks for the tutoriel. I bought the same Mogami cable and will try to make own.
What is the reason using the teflon tape over electrical tape ?
Just to have more insulation.
Hi Tharbamar, Thank you for the instructional video. Do you recall which speaker cable that you preferred, in your system, with the Knight 1s?
I’m currently using very same W3082 cable, thanks
Yes it is better in resolution and quietness but some might find it very revealing, thanks

Hello Thar, evidently the W3082 is out of stock on that link. Do you have any other source?
Hi, performance audio is also great place to get them, thanks
Hi, all my jumpers are made of W3082 using just core conductors connected.
I like W3082 more than W3104 personally.
What do you heard differently in them?

and when you pull apart a loudspeaker--- even a very expensive one they use normal size, ordinary old speaker wire from connection point to speaker terminals--- see how silly this overkill of speaker cables is
Absolutely the best and most sensible comment here. Manufacturers are looking to cut costs, so wire caps and such are picked as long as they do the job. No cable has sound its a piece of copper wire. That's it the rest is audio jewellery.
Nevertheless heavier gauge wires DO unquestionably make a difference if you use ears to decide.
would you be interested to make set of cables and put them up for sale on any platform that you chose, I personally would need (2 )-8' cables
I do not make them for sale.
Resolution has got to be one the silliest marketing terms i have ever heard for stranded copper conductors. Are you gaining "ear pixels" by spending more money? Theres snr and attentuation for sure, but what the hell does resolution even mean if not referring to bitrate or sampling frequency?

Why i never see people soldering the banana plug with the cable ? Like with silver soldering or something. Is this wrong ? Hifi guys take great care to make all the cable correctly but at the very end, the connector (maybe the more important piece of the cable) is just screwed to the cable.
As an electronic engineer, i don't understand...
that was the first thing I noticed here too. I soldered my cable in the copper bananaplug. There is no better connection. The contact between the screw and cable must be worse.
@@thepuma2012 Yes, it was a real question. Even World best cable are soldered with silver.
Soldering is bad when cables need to rebuild it, as I review many speakers and audio components all cables break doesn’t matter who made them, if I need to solder I do cold solder. No solder is better silver or not.

Frequency response tests were ran between this cable and cheap amazon equivalent per-metre stock and there was zero difference in frequency response between the two. However, people will continue to buy this because of the name brand association and claim that they can hear the difference. I laugh every time.
Mogami make good quality cables, but to claim that you can hear the difference is just plain silly.
