I see bass jumping out of the water for dragonflies at all the little ponds I fish at where I am at. It happens regularly. This lure would probably crush the bass where I am, if it actually worked worth a damn.
Pretty sure you'd still get better results with a dry fly.
When I was little I was fishing I pulled my bait out of the water, and then there was a giant splash, being a scared kid I look away, and look back just in time to see a 5 lbs pickerel bend out my snap swivel and fall back in the water.

You should try something called the crazy crawler. They are weird but they do work.
I put sausages on a grill and season them with garlic, and then cook them until they are charred black.
Put it on a big circle hook, give it a cast, wait a few seconds, and boom big cat fish!

That thing is hilarious! I was around for most of the other strange TV lures and gear (pocket fisherman, helicopter lure, banjo minnow, etc) but cannot recall ever seeing this one. oh my goodness!
Ok, I watched half of the video so far. I'm going to watch the rest after this comment. I think this is an amazing idea. Love that you are making a video about this lure! It is gimmicky, however you must acknowledge the flash that the wings produced in the light. It was pretty crazy! Very eye catching. The "float" thing looked pretty dumb until you explained that it's supposed to look like a leaf. That got me thinking that it may actually look like a leaf to a fish. Me, not being a fish, thought "oh! I can see how it looks like a leaf!". But, as you said in a previous video, qouting your father (iirc) "Some lures are designed to catch fish, and some are designed to catch fishermen." Still, half way through the video, I am hooked. So this lure works in some ways. Thank you for this video and all your amazing work! Back to the second half I go!
10 seconds into the second half and the hooked side of me is saying (out loud, while my family is sleeping) no leaf walks through the water that fast! Sorry, I want to believe in this lure so much.

Very interesting lure design, and awesome video talking about it and trying it out! It's clearly a very poor design. Its actually more common than you think that bass will actually feed on dragonflies flying just above the surface of the water. I film a fly fishing television show and this happens more often then you would think!

I feel like you’re not even suppose to reel in with that lure. Just let if float near weeds or something because why would a dragonfly land and stay on a aggressively moving object? I feel like that would also prevent the bass from hitting the body. Maybe try to use it like a bait rod, cast and forget though you still need to set the hook so it’s definitely flawed but I just feel like trying to walk the body to give it action is defeating the purpose of the dragonfly

Honestly this would probably work at my pond, in the summer the bass feed alot on the blue dragon flys and you can see them popping the surface for them I bought the dragonfly top water frog for them and works great so this would probably honestly get bit at my pond

This lure is so interesting search trout eat dragonfly. I was thinking about a similar design. its interesting to see a real company made one!
I Remember The Banjo Minnow,I Never Caught Anything On It.
Hook is pointed the wrong way so even if they did hit that dragonfly probably wouldn't hook up anyway lol
You should have modify that lure, with a live grasshopper, minnow or frog!

Lol maybe try fishing it around lily pads and dragon flies like its modeled for? and why are you fishing it like a frog? you need to fish it like any other passive bait

should have just tried the dragonfly by itself. i think this is a bait that you work super super slow. like maybe not even work it. but use a current to let it move naturally like a real leaf and one shot you did, did look kinda legit though. the way the dragonfly was barely touching the water. the bad thing. those wings and the plastic body i would think would be lost with one fish. or does that hook hold the body in place? its weird though. i think even if those wings were permanently attached they would be trash after one fish. when you were done you should have packed it away for many years. it seems like a spoof in a way where im sure some collector would want it in the future.
I actually see bass and carp jump at low flying dragonflies pretty often. Then again I'm in a different state.
A little sad you burned it before you got a fish. 8 think it would have been a fun series to see how long it would have taken.

I'd like to see you review the "Flying Lure." Billed as the only lure that actually swims away from you! I've seen mixed reviews from great to terrible. Mr. Miller only you can separate the hype from the reality!
You threw the design off by cutting the rubber stem shorter. I'm sure its still trash but probably fished a little better without the cut.

The bait flips over so easily because you trimmed the weight-tube. Yeah... that's why it doesn't catch fish.

Just to be clear, you didn't like it then. Great video though.
While I don't disagree that the lure that you reviewed is laughable to say the least. You said when you were rigging it up that you trimmed the tube you inserted the weight into, correct? That is the reason you saw the pod? pad? flipping over all of the time. Center of gravity and bouncy were the issue. If the lead weight would have been lower in the water, it would have righted the pod/pad, floatation device not work as it should. Again, this is still a horrible idea, but leaving as designed would have helped eliminate the frustration of the bouy not standing up.
