lol...let me tell you something bro....when you get some experience and out from under a mega carrier..you'll understand the significance of a reefer.
you can pick up dry, refrigerated or frozen...3 load options so you never get stuck in a dead zone
a trailer washout only if shipper requires it...you still should sweep it out, no different from a dry van
I'm 25 years out here...give it time, you'll get it

I myself like reefer cause the miles are longer per trip dry van you get a lot of short miles sometimes you may get stuck doing one junk load after another and as far washout I dont do them often I carry a leaf blower and 98% time I only have to blow the trailer out weather its a dry or reefer you still have to have clean trailer sure they both have up and down but I make better money on reefer also if you pull reefer make sure your carrier pays detention time

Dot requires all loads to be secured dry or refrigerated.

When I worked for them I was always getting screwed on the dry van loads. Like getting rushed by dispatch to get to the shipper and them being closed and having to sit for a long time to get loaded and then those loads were only like 1000 miles. All the reefer loads were 1500 or more miles and you never were really screwing around with waiting. Yeah you'd always have to go to that crappy blue beacon in LA but that was the only downside. It's better then dealing with ward Transport lol.

How long ago was this? I’ve been running dryvan with them and it always 1500+ miles

@@HeavyDutyHustle left them last month. Kept getting sent to PA to ward trucking terminals. Then getting sent to junction city Kansas or somewhere in Texas. The returns to the east coast were good. But yeah the dispatchers would constantly rush us to go somewhere and wait for hours or send us to get empties that weren't even where they thought they were.

I used to run with covenant last year. The PITA reimbursement scenario was just too much. Threw in the towel and I've recovered my sanity by going solo. A majority of my loads are live but you get more exposure to the ins and outs of loading and unloading.
Plus I can actually sleep in a non- moving truck at night! Peace of mind!😁

Can you or did explain that it wasn't worth the extra 2 cents to pull reefer to your supervisor?

Do you get paid when you're running trailers around to get them washed out and stuff?

Reefer pays two cents more but I don’t think the extra labor is worth it
