It’s been 4 months since my last Ashes of Creation update video so today, I’m gonna recap the past 4 development livestreams for the people who casually follow the project and don’t have time to tune in to the hour+ long livestreams each month.
In this video we’ll cover the Alpha 2 Village Nodes Update, The Event Update, The Caravan System Preview, and the Alpha 2 Artisanship System Preview.

-Ashes Of Creation MMO Description-
Ashes Of Creation is a colossal MMORPG attempting to provide fans of PVP, PVE and Roleplay an everchanging world and the ultimate MMO experience, the game will have the following:
9 different playable races both with male and female options.
1200 square kilometer world size at launch, 85 Nodes in the world, EVERY Resource you see is gatherable just like in New World.
Fully open world game where you can go from one size of the map to the other no loading screens.
Dungeons, Raids, World Bosses, Open World PVP with a criminal system, Caravan PVP, castle sieges, node sieges, arenas, duels, guild wars, crafting and artisan system, monster coin events, political system, citizenship, player run shops, taverns with parlor games, top tier character customization, transmog cosmetic collection, 64 different class combinations, 3 different forms of player housing both open world and instanced, achievements, leaderboards, gathering, questing, hybrid combat system, player driven economy with localized storage, pets, massive guild system with guild halls, both land and water mounts and 18 different biomes in the world.
Ashes started development back in 2016 in Unreal Engine 4 however at the end of 2021 upgraded its engine to Unreal 5 to make use of the latest advancements in gaming tech such as nanite, lumen and a more efficient development pipeline, In terms of funding the game was successfully kickstarted in 2017 however the vast majority of the games funding comes from creative director Steven Sharif, a successful entrepreneur who like most of us has been a lifelong MMO fan that was unhappy with the current state of the MMORPG genre, Ashes Of Creation is fully funded to completion and despite offering paid access to Alpha and Beta tests is not reliant on these funds to finish development.
This game will have zero pay to win, a cosmetic only cash shop with no convenience items and a $15 per month subscription fee business model with no box cost.
A sand park MMO is basically a hybrid of theme park and sandbox, there’s a lot of player driven content however there’s also developer curated scripted encounters such as raids and dungeons…This is the category of MMO that Ashes Of Creation falls into and personally It’s my favorite type of MMORPG.

Hello, will you review throne and liberty?
Watching this and a lot looks good, not amazing but looks like a solid place to start which is better than most MMOs. My concern is the at the UI/UX looks absolutely ugly, tiny, and cumbersome. I hope that gets a huge rework or they leave it open and allow UI-mod/addons.

Heh... that moon looks cool because it is either a) extremely large or b) extremely close to the planet. You can actually see the 3d nature of the heavenly body, unlike our moon which basically just looks like a flat white disc. Them tidal forces are gonna be wicked!
The only time I have time for them is at work bc we can use earbuds if they don't interfere with our work. But even then it's only sound so not full experience.
I'm so excited to play this game once it comes out in 2030.
It will be worth the wait.
Too much hype for this game no way it can deliver with how much ppl are hyping it. It's gonna be a boomer mmo and I doubt it will last, but hey I would love to be wrong. But the state of the MMO market has made me very cynical

@@heroblake6572 They honestly set strange price, I believe they would get more profit if they set it to 1000$. Only whales will spend 250$ or 1000$ anyways but more than 1000$ might be a bit too much for some whales already.
Wont be buying into this game until a open beta or official release but always good to see the updates. Still has a long way to go.
Jumping in earlier to any game is always a big commitment. Especially with all the projects either being scams or just failing. But all it takes it keeping up to date with them and getting in when you can financially. This is my favorite genre of game, the medieval era. Love the old timey style and slowish nature of the world.
I mean this game isnt releasing any time soon. They havent even completed their alpha testing yet

Making an entire system (caravans) based on one of the most loathed quest types (escort quests) is a ballsy move. They do seem a little more engaging than the standard escort quest though.
I would agree escort type quests SUCK, but I can say with this so far, it isn't required and mainly the people who will be doing caravan quests are going to be larger guilds and owners of the node to get mats for their town or allies. And January they are showing the PVP side of Caravan quests since they auto flag you.
Imagine believing that this scammy team is capable of implementing such systems, big skem the CEO is a literal serial MLM scammer

can't wait to hire myself out as a mercenary to help people deliver their caravans to their desired places. Such an awesome immersion, would be cool to have like a merc variety of jobs like even a bounty hunter system for pvp. Even if we could have shops and a hireable system for players to be apart of a ingame business.
Or, remove the cancer that is open world pvp and make a good game
there actually is a bounty hunting system where you hunt griefers that can be identified by their red names

@@Tilley53 agreed! I like this risk and reward style gameplay. There really isn't any game atm where you can hire yourself out to protect others for important things, like caravans so i say it's an exciting option to the game.

Games gonna be ran by Mega Guilds. Nodes, Caravan, Government. Caravan alone how does a solo or duo defend a bandit gank let alone a random world boss.
The solo and duos will quit like they did in Wildstar. Then the game will die because it won't have a big enough hard-core playerbase for the systems to function.

Anyway for clarity purposes for people who read this nonsense. First off this is being designed as a social MMORPG Themebox/Sandpark, not a single player game. 2nd, if are you trying to solo run a caravan from one node to another, you can hire NPC guards to help you, if you dont have any friends. Also, the only Node system that has democratic voting system for mega guilds to maintain as mayorship is scientific nodes. Economic, Militaristic, and Divine nodes arent by votes. If other guilds dont like the way that nodes is being run or controlled then seige it down or just dont trade with them.

@@shadowven9565 Sadly i didnt get notification about your comment, this game is created to be impossible to played solo and have skilled players to do more than someone who only started playing games like this, not about socialisation like in older games, there will be packs that wouldnt interact with anyone and just farm, players in gulds that wouldnt interact with anyone outside guild, and just playing with guildmates, like in bdo
The caravan system remind me of the trader/ hunter/ thief system in silkroad online (RIP), but of course way more polished.
So far I've been on an off watching news about the game, but this made me interested way more.
Silkroad system was one of the best I ever saw. Optional yet very engaging. Perfect idea for PVP feature, unlike freekin Faction system in New World...

Looking forward to jumping into the 2 betas. I’m sure beta won’t drop until 2026(at the earliest). But until then I’ll watch the monthly streams and Alpha 2 next year, from the sidelines!!

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it, there's been too many MMOs in recent years that have promised the world and massively underdelivered once they released how epic of a task it is to release such a game packed with so many complicated systems. Not only that but I can see so many of this game's features being dominated by a few massive guilds who will just run and own everything, players who just want to chill and play solo/duo or in small groups will be pushed to the side and leave the game.
I mean its an mmo, not solo duo. So of course it's not going to cater to small groups of people. That has never been the goal of any MMO.

@@Snoozy96 That is not the definition of an MMO though. It just means a huge persistent (open) world with a "massive" amount of players playing at the same time. AoC should not forget that there are a lot of players that enjoy relaxing solo or small scale group content (Why Classic WoW is so popular, it incentivices players to engage in small group content regularly and the large scale groups like raids are less frequent)
You are wrong because this system already existed in Archage, worked, and was extremely fun. But you are entitled to your opinion. Yes larger guild caravans will be more successful but solo runs were more common and were doable. Castle Sieges were dominated by small guilds of 20 geared players and the rest mercs. Successful runs usually only had 4-5 players who were not idiots, and any large guild were easily stopped by 2-3 people on any world boss. Tanking requirements were absolutely insane and very very few players could tank them without swapping multiple tanks. This game is heavily influenced by Archage so I expect it to have similar server conflicts. The bigger problems were the solo or duo players camping just outside zones and harassing the individual players, caravans were almost always the most fun PvP I have experienced in an MMO.

I wonder why they wanted to go with items taking up space in the form of multiple spaces instead of going with weight. Maybe designing weights for everything in the game is harder than size.

One thing I have noticed with a lot of modern MMO is that they are either entirely aimed at solo/small group gameplay or the other way around, entirely aimed at the big zergs, and this game appears to be in the second category.
High end crafting being tied to homesteads(limited availability per server) and cities which are even more limited availability per server AND requires whoever owns the city to prioritize YOUR crafting specialization. Want to craft something off-meta? well good luck with that, either join a big guild with some homesteads and lick some boots or join a even larger guild with a city and bend over.
Caravan system is also pretty much a "be big or don't bother" feature.
