Hey mate, don't know if you still read comments here but I wanted to say thank you so much for this guide. I've come back to this game after many years playing it as a kid and it's the first time I got my hands on a megamorph after a-teching pegasus only 8 times!
@@stevenbohlen347 I got 4 MBD in 170 duels with Meadow Mage, but can't for the life of me pull a single Megamorph from Pegasus or a single THTD from Heishin in 150+ duels. This game is wonderful but the RNG is just cruel, hahaha.

It's actually extremely easy to get a trap without ATECing, easier in fact. BCD against Pegasus gives you a 64/2048 chance for Acid Trap Hole. BCD against Kaiba gives you an 80/2048 chance for Acid Trap Hole. Not to mention Bear Trap from Rex and Weevil, Invisible Wire from Mai, Keith, and Bakura, and Widespread Ruin from Isis. All of this without ATEC, just on normal ranks. Those drop rates on Pegasus and Kaiba are extremely high in the grand scheme of things, especially the 80 on Kaiba. Normally when we do runs, we make sure to BCD everyone in World Tournament on our way to Pegasus, and I'd say 75% of the time we have a trap before we even reach him. And if we don't, we almost always have one before the end of World Tournament. And even if we don't then, it never takes more than a few free duels to grab one. I'd recommend Pegasus BCD, because not only is a 64 chance at a trap very high, but he can also drop Dragon Treasure on BCD. Kaiba has a higher chance for the trap alone, but no good equips drop, so we tend to look to Pegasus BCD for traps since it's killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Look can you get A tec without traps? cus i got an A tec one time with my same deck, with goblin fan. But now i can only get Bs. same deck. all other requirements fulfilled. i dont understand. only 1 a tec and 9 b tecs. this is frusturating/
7 traps is another method but is generally slower than the 3 methods I mentioned in this video, mainly because it takes a very long time to actually ACTIVATE seven traps.
For effective attracts you can sacrifice a low def point card in defense position. Some opponents can't resist temptation to blow that card, in next turn you will have that oponente card in attack position. You just have to Make sure you have a card with at least 2200 atk points or More. But the more atk power the faster your oponent life points will last
So I just wanted to point out that my deck actually can’t fulfill all the requirements however i was still getting a tecs (just looked up to see exactly how i was getting them now im confused) So im not sure you need all the requirements listed Mostly i was doing a lot of fusing and equiping and a couple magics like raigeki but no trap cards and definitely having more then 3 cards
There are other ways to get atecs other than the 3 methods I listed, the 3 methods I listed are just the fastest and easiest. If you check the neoseeker link and do the math on your duel rank points, and compare against whatever you did in the duels, I'm sure you'll see you were meant to get the atec

What would be a ideal deck? I can’t balance fusions. I’m going for the power up and magic plays so I have to only do 10 fusions etc. also how do you spell lock Pegasus, keeps raigekiing me to hell
Just trying to A-tec Pegasus for that Megamorph, and I got every requirement down before he just feather dustered my one trap card away. I hate this game so much lmao. At least with deck-outs I don't have to keep track of anything. edit: On my second try, my one trap card was the last card in the deck, so there's no way for it to get triggered without decking out. The game hates me more than I hate it.
He won't feather duster you if you continue to keep his field cleared. Make sure you destroy the monster he plays every single turn. If Pegasus has 0 monsters on the field when it's his turn, he must play a monster, thus you avoid getting feather dustered.
Pegasus ALMOST never fuses. He uses Feather Duster on your traps. Acid Trap Hole CANNOT stop Meteor B Dragon,his STRONGEST card. If you completely wipe the opponents side of the field of monsters, and you have face up monsters on your side of the field, the AI will be forced to play a monster without fusing. This means, under these circumstances, they can't play magics, they can't play traps, and they can't fuse. They can only play a monster from their hand. This is why during ATECs we always kill whatever monster the AI plays on their turn. It prevents them from doing some bullshit that fucks up the atec, like playing raigeki or feather duster or fusing. 2.) For the feather duster part, see number 1. Can't play it as long as you keep his field clear and you have face up monsters on your side of the field. Speedrunner do thousands and thousands of ATECs, this is why you'll never see feather duster played against any of them. 3.} Peggy playing MBD is exceedingly rare. Acid trap works under the vast majority of duels, and if it's all you have it's absolutely more than fine. Of course widespread or fake trap is safer/better, but they're harder to get. Even if you only have Bear Trap, it's still worth trying, because ATEC drops against him are just that good 4.) I mean, the method of overcoming MBD certainly works, there are just easier ways to go about it. But regardless, MBD is not that huge of a problem here. It's rare to be played against you, so on the off chance it happens, either use your raigeki if you draw it, or just kill yourself and try again. If this was happening often then yeah that would suck and be super inconvenient and inconsistent. But it's rare enough that it shouldn't be a consistent issue. So yeah, I'd honestly recommend hanging out in some FM speedrun streams and asking some questions, I think you'll be pretty surprised at the level of knowledge that exists for this game these days. The entirety of the games code has basically been studied and is well understood, so directly from the games code we understand exactly how everything works, and hundreds of people have spent thousands and thousands of hours developing the best strategies using this intimate knowledge of the games code.

You can use, for example, Invisible Wire or Acid Trap Hole. You can win invisible wire on normal BCD ranks against Mai, Keith, and Bakura. Acid Trap Hole, which is the better option, you can win from Pegasus on normal B, C, or D ranks, at quite a high chance as well. You can also win it from Kaiba BCD at an even higher chance. You can also win Widespread Ruin from Isis on normal BCD ranks, but the odds are lower.
If you play Dragon Capture Jar and there are no dragons on the field does it still count as playing a magic card? I always wondered because I just threw all the magics and traps I had into the deck to get a higher chance of playing them. Also if Umi is already activated and I play Umi again will it still count as a magic being played?
Yes, it still counts as a magic use even if the magic doesn't actually do anything. This means you can use DCJ even if there's no dragons, or use Umi when the field is already Umi. You can also do things such as using Crush Card or Raigeki even if the enemy has no monsters out. When it comes to magics, just playing them counts as using them, regardless of effect. Traps, on the other hand, have to actually have their effect activated in order to count.
@@GFC_FM I think just one more. I prefer using the deck out method for Pegasus, I guess with my simple mind there's less variables to deal with. I heard using magic and trap cards against pegasus raises your chances of getting a magic card if you deck him out. Is that true? And what's an ideal number of spells I should use in a duel against him?
Because the AI cannot play traps as long as you keep their field clear. If you just destroy all monsters on the AI field, they are literally incapable of playing feather duster, so there is no risk. This is also why, if you are at the very beginning of an atec (like the first turn or 2), and you can't wipe the opponents field yet, you shouldn't play any of your magics/traps/etc face down until you can wipe their field.
This video doesn't explain exactly how the AI works during duels and sort of assumes a loose understanding of common mechanics the AI has. But I can definitely see people making this mistake if they aren't aware of how the AI works in relation to when they will use magics and when they won't. You'll notice during my atecs that I always destroy the monster being played each turn by the opponent, even though it wastes time. I do this for that exact reason: As long as your opponent has no monsters on the field when it's their turn, they are FORCED to play a monster. There are some situations where this isn't true (like if you ALSO don't have any monsters on your field, then they can play magics, or if they already have a magic face down then they can flip it at any time, so you have to be very careful if you let the AI get a magic face down).
@@GFC_FM thank you for responding. After many failed attempts and frustration i finally found the method needed. I did the 10 magic card method. I just use them each turn so they dont get sweeped off. i get 4 effective attacks. But its really tough becausde u need to figure out how AI works with the rageki and effective attacks. SO it took me a long time and was frusturating. Also i think its just under an A rank with the method without trap that just does 5 magic and 4 effective attack. i checked screen and it all added up but still B rank. i can now do a tecs.
@@GFC_FM yea but the biggest problem is manipulating the enemy into attack position to get super effective attack. Cus then you need to worry about rageki and how much damage you take. since he only or 97% of time only use rageki after a round passes in attack mode for him.

This video explains 3 methods, which are the most commonly used 3 methods for atecs in the Forbidden Memories community: Method 1 - 4 effective attacks (this method will use 4 effective attacks, 1 magic, 1 equip, and 1 trap, along with all of the other requirements that apply to all 3 methods such as 15 fusions, 3 or less cards remaining, 1 face down, etc) Method 2 - 4 magics (this method will use 4 magics, 0 effective attacks, 1 equip, and 1 trap, along with all other requirements) Method 3 - 5 equips (this method will use 1 magic, 0 effective attacks, 5 equips, and 1 trap, along with all other requirements) So all 3 methods I've described in this video will always have the following requirements: - 1 trap - 15 fusions - 3 cards remaining or less - 9 turns or more - Less than 7000 LP remaining - 1 facedown Those requirements apply to ALL 3 methods, and then each method uses a different combination of effective attacks, magics and equips (as those 3 requirements are somewhat interchangeable). So I am not sure where you got 5 magics and 4 effective attacks and 0 traps from, but you're correct that that method will not work. You COULD do 4 magics and 4 effective attacks, and then you can get rid of either the equip use (0 equips used), or you can lower the amount of fusions done to just 10 (with 1 equip used), but a trap is required for all of it. Using 1 trap is basically the "key" of doing fast ATECs, as it lowers your rank significantly (much more so than most other things do). I hope my comments have helped clear things up for you, good luck!
I can't ever get past B Tec with these strategies. Perhaps I'm missing something. But I have every single requirement post game. I've wasted more time on these methods than drawing out the opponents cards lol
Make sure you check the duel stats screen and check every single requirement one by one. Including 9 turns passing. If you want, tell me exactly what stats the duel stats screens say and I can tell you what's wrong
It doesn't? I never knew that, but I'm pretty sure it does if you actually get the effect to activate. But I'm not sure who you're atecing that can actually get goblin fan to activate, Pegasus doesn't have any direct LP damage magics, nor do the people you would commonly atec. Goblin Fan is basically never used, so yeah, if it truly doesn't count as a trap when it's actually activated, then that's interesting and I didn't know that. Although I am not sure I believe that it doesn't count. I'll do some testing and see
When you finish a duel, check the Duel Stats screen (pressing left or right on the dpad when it shows you your drop). That screen will list everything you did during the duel, compare that list to the list I provided. If they match, you got an atec. If they don't, you won't. I guarantee if you're not getting an atec, those lists won't match. But by checking you can see what you're missing
lol this game is really bad. i beat Jono 2nd like 200 times but still no Red Eyes B. Dragon and Meteor B. Dragon drops. the rng is so bad dude, and i hate S/A-tec ing lol

One crucial thing I've learned today is *NEVER* throw away Raigeki when a MBD gets summoned on the field during an A-tech farming...
In my casual playthrough I didn't even have Raigeki. I lost many A-Tecs to top deck MBDs.

I have a question. I've been able to stumble upon an A tec without activating my own trap(dont have any.) No clue how.
Do you deck them out?

You can use, for example, Invisible Wire or Acid Trap Hole. You can win invisible wire on normal BCD ranks against Mai, Keith, and Bakura.
Acid Trap Hole, which is the better option, you can win from Pegasus on normal B, C, or D ranks, at quite a high chance as well. You can also win it from Kaiba BCD at an even higher chance.
You can also win Widespread Ruin from Isis on normal BCD ranks, but the odds are lower.

If you play Dragon Capture Jar and there are no dragons on the field does it still count as playing a magic card? I always wondered because I just threw all the magics and traps I had into the deck to get a higher chance of playing them. Also if Umi is already activated and I play Umi again will it still count as a magic being played?
Yes, it still counts as a magic use even if the magic doesn't actually do anything. This means you can use DCJ even if there's no dragons, or use Umi when the field is already Umi. You can also do things such as using Crush Card or Raigeki even if the enemy has no monsters out.
When it comes to magics, just playing them counts as using them, regardless of effect.
Traps, on the other hand, have to actually have their effect activated in order to count.

I heard using magic and trap cards against pegasus raises your chances of getting a magic card if you deck him out. Is that true? And what's an ideal number of spells I should use in a duel against him?

why would you keep all of your traps on field when pegasus uses harpies feather duster? i just blew my a tec trying to imitate you
Because the AI cannot play traps as long as you keep their field clear. If you just destroy all monsters on the AI field, they are literally incapable of playing feather duster, so there is no risk. This is also why, if you are at the very beginning of an atec (like the first turn or 2), and you can't wipe the opponents field yet, you shouldn't play any of your magics/traps/etc face down until you can wipe their field.
This video doesn't explain exactly how the AI works during duels and sort of assumes a loose understanding of common mechanics the AI has. But I can definitely see people making this mistake if they aren't aware of how the AI works in relation to when they will use magics and when they won't.
You'll notice during my atecs that I always destroy the monster being played each turn by the opponent, even though it wastes time. I do this for that exact reason:
As long as your opponent has no monsters on the field when it's their turn, they are FORCED to play a monster. There are some situations where this isn't true (like if you ALSO don't have any monsters on your field, then they can play magics, or if they already have a magic face down then they can flip it at any time, so you have to be very careful if you let the AI get a magic face down).
@@GFC_FM thank you for responding. After many failed attempts and frustration i finally found the method needed. I did the 10 magic card method. I just use them each turn so they dont get sweeped off. i get 4 effective attacks. But its really tough becausde u need to figure out how AI works with the rageki and effective attacks. SO it took me a long time and was frusturating.
Also i think its just under an A rank with the method without trap that just does 5 magic and 4 effective attack. i checked screen and it all added up but still B rank.
i can now do a tecs.
@@GFC_FM yea but the biggest problem is manipulating the enemy into attack position to get super effective attack. Cus then you need to worry about rageki and how much damage you take. since he only or 97% of time only use rageki after a round passes in attack mode for him.

This video explains 3 methods, which are the most commonly used 3 methods for atecs in the Forbidden Memories community:
Method 1 - 4 effective attacks (this method will use 4 effective attacks, 1 magic, 1 equip, and 1 trap, along with all of the other requirements that apply to all 3 methods such as 15 fusions, 3 or less cards remaining, 1 face down, etc)
Method 2 - 4 magics (this method will use 4 magics, 0 effective attacks, 1 equip, and 1 trap, along with all other requirements)
Method 3 - 5 equips (this method will use 1 magic, 0 effective attacks, 5 equips, and 1 trap, along with all other requirements)
So all 3 methods I've described in this video will always have the following requirements:
- 1 trap
- 15 fusions
- 3 cards remaining or less
- 9 turns or more
- Less than 7000 LP remaining
- 1 facedown
Those requirements apply to ALL 3 methods, and then each method uses a different combination of effective attacks, magics and equips (as those 3 requirements are somewhat interchangeable). So I am not sure where you got 5 magics and 4 effective attacks and 0 traps from, but you're correct that that method will not work.
You COULD do 4 magics and 4 effective attacks, and then you can get rid of either the equip use (0 equips used), or you can lower the amount of fusions done to just 10 (with 1 equip used), but a trap is required for all of it. Using 1 trap is basically the "key" of doing fast ATECs, as it lowers your rank significantly (much more so than most other things do).

I can't ever get past B Tec with these strategies. Perhaps I'm missing something. But I have every single requirement post game. I've wasted more time on these methods than drawing out the opponents cards lol
Make sure you check the duel stats screen and check every single requirement one by one. Including 9 turns passing. If you want, tell me exactly what stats the duel stats screens say and I can tell you what's wrong

It doesn't? I never knew that, but I'm pretty sure it does if you actually get the effect to activate. But I'm not sure who you're atecing that can actually get goblin fan to activate, Pegasus doesn't have any direct LP damage magics, nor do the people you would commonly atec.
Goblin Fan is basically never used, so yeah, if it truly doesn't count as a trap when it's actually activated, then that's interesting and I didn't know that. Although I am not sure I believe that it doesn't count. I'll do some testing and see
I've been following everything for the 4 effective attack A-Tec and yet I've been constantly getting B-Tecs
When you finish a duel, check the Duel Stats screen (pressing left or right on the dpad when it shows you your drop).
That screen will list everything you did during the duel, compare that list to the list I provided.
If they match, you got an atec. If they don't, you won't.
I guarantee if you're not getting an atec, those lists won't match. But by checking you can see what you're missing
