A Reflection On Waterfalls - Waterfalls, like those found in Western North Carolina’s DuPont State Recreational Forest, are Nature’s rock stars. They’re so unique, so spectacular you can’t take them for granted. They remind us that we are not as much in control as we think we are. When we abuse Nature and play to roll of exploiter rather than steward we do so at our peril. Waterfalls have much to teach us about our relationship with the earth. Getting to see a waterfall often requires a hike, something like taking a pilgrimage to a holy place. Next time you visit a waterfall, take a moment to reflect on what they are trying to say to you.
