Born in 1980, I’m 44yrs young, last of Gen X, Norwegian descendant, born in Bemidji MN. When i was a kid I could go to almost any lake in the area and catch huge slabs of Sunny’s, Crappies & Bluegills. You can still get on some nice ones in several public lakes but it’s not the same and you better be able to keep a secret or you’ll regret it. The “olds” told me stories of giant Pike, Walleye and panfish dying of old age. Deer and grouse hunting are also not the same in many places for several different reasons. They reeled in and speared some monsters over the years. I am concerned for the “land of 21,871 lakes”. I do own and use them but sonar technology has completely changed the game! Underwater cameras, fish finders, easily drilling multiple holes, ATV’s etc. It’s like using a drone to shoot the 30 point buck. I believe the DNR, with all due respect has improperly managed some lakes/fisheries and as a cattle farmer I have witnessed several mismanaged plots of land by them. Many people use to over-fish also. Unfortunately there is a large number of people who need to be educated in basic fishing ethics & conservation. Other factors also play a part. I have thought hard about this…I love my sideXside, ice castle, Vexilar, etc. but imagine if no motorized vehicles were allowed on any MN lake. I think the people who truly loved and respected fishing would put in the effort/work to fish the “way of the olds” and ultimately catch more fish, have a better understanding of their elders, environment, habitat & appreciation for our fisheries. Unfortunately I don’t believe that will happen in my lifetime. Thanks for the video guys and until then I’ll be staring at my fish finder and into my spearing hole. Thankfully we’re making good ice this year! Merry Christmas, let’s hope it’s a good one.
I appreciate how u handle all the fish u catch TB! U are quick in getting them unhooked and get them back in the water quickly and with low stress. Thank you!
Not sure what video you are watching or maybe just not paying attention but the very first fish he caught there was a break in the recording which means he had it out of the water long enough to edit out all the wasted time it took him to find his measuring spoon.
He needs to tell the story after he releases. Too many talk too much while holding the fish. I'm not even listening to what they are saying. I'm timing the release.
Thanks for putting this together. Soldiers on Sleds Inc a 501c3 non profit will be showing it to all of our Soldier Participants next February. Lots of good information here.
Gotta love getting into them like you have. Nice when you catch them that large. I know, I love catching them on small jerkbaits in late fall. When they hit, hard to tell difference from a 4lb. bass, just crush the jerkbait. Keep up the tremendous content in our videos. Thank you.
Crappies are my favorite fish to chase! Tom you should dedicate a week or two this year and really chase them hard to get a true Wisconsin giant 16+! Open water or ice, river or lake, don’t matter where just getter done!
I saw Ty Sennet guiding a fishing show from a few years back on the same lake Tom was on but over basin and he was catching 16" and 17" and that was before live imaging (a lot of holes were drilled!)! I too would love to see a little more content other than the walleye for just a bit. It's nice to have a little change up in content, at least i think most of us appreciate it. Man, it must be just a relentless grind being out on the road that much. Glad to see some content from the hayward area too, even with the added issues of snow and slush.
Why would you flop your hand on an exposed auger blade? Or am I just seeing things. I notice in other videos your blades are next to you by your fish hole as well. Cover or put those blades pointing away from you. You are on ice. People slip, dogs bump into things. I've seen people cut their day short of fishing because they have to run to the ER to get some serious stitches. Be safe, be smart. PS, is this the same spot your wife found those slabs the other day for you? 😁 Nice fish Tom.
I know a lake that has giant crappies i have a npanoptix but i have not been able to find the pack just one here one there. Maybe this lake the crappies dont hang in packs i dont know.
You should turn that birghtight against the tent to diffuse the light more. It's bright enough, but almost too intense. Shining it against the tent should help dull the intensity.
I was thinking same while watching video , if I took a drink of beer every time he said "dude". 😅 After a 20min video I would have a serious buzzon.. 😆 🤣
I have LiveScope, but also still use my vexilar a bunch. LVS definitely better for finding structure and fish. Time saver for sure, but you still need the right presentation! I have less than $1600 in my whole setup. LiveScope is pretty durable and you can find some good deals on used LVS32’s. Which is what I did.
Yeah let’s see you try catching some fish without electronics or maybe just a budget level set up. Not everyone has that much money to drop on a setup. If you have one of those you really don’t need no tips or anything damn thing tell ya exactly where they are.
Just another tom boley fraud. See folks he has acreage with multiple ponds with gigantic fish of different species as pets and he just mixes the edits. So you cant tell. There is no other explanation for being that much better than everyone else. 😂❤
YES, please bring in more content on chasing BIGs crappies

Great job Tom…… totally awesome video.
How about a video on how to find crappies on weed lines for those who don’t have mega live or live scope and just a flasher?!
Pre-hard water searching

I'm just wondering I have a 10 inch auger blade I can a drill what size drill to use with out burning the drill
What’s your opinion of the odyssey 40 vs the evolution 42 noodle? How does the tip and rod action differ?
You need to go back to ND. Road trip for more walleye

What lake were u on in northern Wisconsin
We went to 3 lakes in Hayward yesterday all slush. Wasn't great, but still got 6 bluegills.
Very nice crappies you getting
This I can relate to in 🕸 westvirginia I catch dozens of 13in and better during Lake fishing.
Thanks, great info👍🏻
What lake you fishing on?
Making me anxious in the intro.holding onto your auger blade lol
Tom would love to hear how you find them and what to look at. I did send a message on Facebook asking a few questions.
Is this northern Wisconsin?
why do you always release? Do you ever keep your catches?
Nice! I'd have my fry pan all fired up.
Nice fish great video
is that a 24v or 40v strikemaster?
What lake is this on? Crappie that size up north are hard to find up here!
What lake is that
Sweet slabs!
Crappie sammiches for supper tonight. Mmm
How can you find fish without a live scope I don't have 5000 to spend
Don't have to use livescope at all. Just drill more holes to find weed pockets.
Lake gogeibic Michigan my suggestion
What Go Pro model do you use in your videos??

I follow a youtuber who ice. Fishes he. Made what he. Calls the ultimate hole 🕳 hopper
What a slab
White crappies?
These are all Black Crappies
How to find fish: buy a $5,000 live scope.
Since when is LiveScope $5k?
hahaha yup can’t argue with the technology. my livescope is crazy fun!
Worth every penny! I catch fish 5-1 against guys with vexilar only.
