  • Here are all the medications that I take for my Parkinson's treatment. Seems like a lot to keep track of, doesn't? But keep track of them I do. Share this journey with me as I review what a possible Parkinson's treatment plan could look like.

    Thanks for sharing. I was Dx in 2019 at 57 .I first started taking sertraline for depression. I believe depression was one of my first symptoms of Parkinson's. This also helped with my sleeping at night time. I had issues with staying asleep, I would wake up almost every hour
    Next as my motor functions got a little worse, I started taking slegeline a MBO inhibitor that slows down something in my brain that attacks my dopamine. Next came the C/L. ½ a pill three times a day and six months later moved of to one pill six three times a day.

      Hi Rick, thanks for sharing that. It's interesting how quickly our med count can go up sometimes based on symptom progression. Hopefully you're at a stage now where things stabilize a bit and you can have some peace. Thanks for the breakdown on your meds.😀😁

    Hi David, thanks for your explanation and insight into the many medications that you take on a daily basis. As you mentioned, there is no specific test to confirm a Parkinson's diagnosis. My neurologist did a panel of blood and urine tests, plus an MRI of my brain, in order to ELIMINATE any other possible causes of my Parkinson's symptoms. I, too, take antidepressants as part of my treatment--Zoloft/sertraline for depression and Cymbalta/duloxatine for nerve pain caused by diabetic neuropathy. It's such a blessing to find drug combinations that actually work and don't cause terrible side effects!

    • @LifewithParkinsons
      @LifewithParkinsons  Год назад +1

      Hi Jeannine. I went through a huge amount of blood tests, two MRI's and and bunch of other stuff to rule out other problems until they settled on PD, which is obvious now. I agree, once you find your pill combo gotta stick with it.😀😁😀

    Another awesome video ❤ lots of good info. I am at the max with my leva dopa. My dosage: 2.5 sinimet 1 entacopone @5:40am, then basically every 2-2.5hrs x7 per day. Every other dose I take 3 sinimet. Then at bedtime, 2cr, and 2 mirtazapine. Dbs in the future I think.

    Wow completely taking away one of your meds that works . Sorry to hear that .
    Got a question about the garden . How did it do on stomach acid ? Was it a bad year for the garden ? Haha
    You already heard my 1st week story of meds . Noticed worse shakes a few times and worse leg pains at night . Nothing positive so far . Have a great weekend

      Hi Jerry sorry to hear about your first week on meds. Was hoping for more positive results. Yeah the distributor is discontinuing the movapo pen. Hoping the replacement is good. The garden was ok. It was just stomach acid but it was worth it in the end. Just got a lot of strange looks.

      Yeah I sent him a message about meds , and also questioning where things stand , and me researching stuff that has parkinson symptoms ( parkinsonism ) . Seen a few I worry about the PSP was the 1st one , Wilson disease ( dealt with alot of copper with hvac ) . MSA ( dr I seen when I was paralyzed 23 years ago , that was his legacy MSA . He was the Jerry Lewis of MSA apparently ) those are a few I wonder about from what I read and did for a living.
