  • The Central Virginia Cricket Association and the Capital Women Cricket League brought teams from Georgia, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland to Henrico County for the area's first all-girls cricket tournament. The Atlanta War Eagles ultimately won the six-team tournament, which was played Oct. 12-14 at Deep Run Park, Dunncroft/Castle Point Park and Wilder Middle School.
"It was nice to see a girl's tournament happening here, instead of being the only girl on a guy's team and feeling left out," said Amrita, who plays for the North New Jersey Youth Cricket Academy.
Players and coaches complimented Henrico's pitches and facilities. "Grounds like this help kids develop their cricket in a proper way," said Manoj Mohan, who traveled from Springfield with his daughter, a member of the D.C. Titans.
